  1. I just upgraded to the 76csx from the GPSMaps 60 and I am totally impressed with the product. Fast lock, accurate, readable. No experience with the Lowrance.
  2. I can relate, I just upgraded to the 76csx from a gpsmaps 60 and I can't believe how much faster it locks and how well it locks inside my house (although I don't really need a GPS in my house, I already know where everything is).
  3. I have been uploading my tracks to Google earth plus with my gpsmaps 60, I recently upgraded to a 76csx and when I try to upload from it, it hangs at the screen that says "Uploading data from usb". Does anyone have any clue what might be the problem and a possible solution? Terry
  4. I bought a gpsmap 60 last month as was confused as to the best map set so I contacted garmin. They told me that while navigator would work, I would be much happyer with city select v 7. So whether or not you can buy it on their site, the are still recommending it for the 60 series. BTW, I bought it at Megagps and love it.
  5. DCnTX, don't know if this helps. I use the same gpsr and I haven't really found the the geocaching mode that helpful. I simply push the find button, choose which waypoint, choose "off road" and follow the map page. I use the software that came with it to upload the appropriate waypoints, before hunting so I haven't done any manual entry. Terry
  6. Sounds like you broke the screen, but, you haven't given many details. I know that Garmin has a single repair price for their units that looked quite reasonable. What are the particulars about yours.
  7. Well now, this looks like the place to ask a question. I lead a teen youth group at Church, and I have introduced them to the joys of caching, complete with the idea of planting their own on Church property (Large wooded lot). In stead of tracts, I am urging them to find objects with religious significance, and that would be actractive to families with children since this will be an easy cache. Two of the items are stuffed bears holding an bible, and a Jesus loves you bouncing ball. There is a two fold purpose in this exercise: 1. Team building 2. Thinking outside the box about their faith and ways to share it with others. May I have your opinions and suggestions since I am a neophyte myself? Terry
  8. Swag GPS Camera Extra Batteries Water .38 Revolver
  9. I've lost 45 pounds doing Weight Watchers, and part of that is earning Activity Points, since I have started caching, I have really been racking those up. Terry
  10. Ok, the FAQ has extensive instructions for Palm, is there anywhere to look for Pocket PC instructions? I can download the individual .pdf files on the site, but I can't find a way to download all the ones for the results of a pocket query. Terry
  11. I haven't used the legend so I can't speak to the difference, but after a lot of research I chose the GPSMAP 60. I have had it for a week now, it has lead me straight to 5 caches, has quick aquitition, and seems solid as a whole. Terry
  12. On a related topic, I have a Map 60, are there any other Mapping programs that will work for it besides the Garmin products? I am interested in both street and topo. Terry
  13. Just presented it to a Church group of teenagers (Awana), about 15 of them. They are excited, and will start working with them on our property before we go looking for a real cache. Terry
  14. I experienced this today, but the reason was a little bit different. The cache was located about 100 feet from the perimiter fence of a detention center. Now this was entirely legitimate, since there is a public park right next to it as well. Just hoping no guards were looking.
  15. I am new to the sport (4 finds as of today) and I ran into an issue today that I need to know what the norm is. A group approached the same cache that I was looking for just a little behind me, now when I got within about 20 feet of the cache, they disappeared. I realized that I didn't now the proper behavior in this instance, do you just join up with the other group at the site? Head off and give the other group their space until they are done? None of the above? All of the above? Terry
