  1. I bought an unactivated Geocaching Germany geocoin off ebay. It is a great looking coin. Only problem I am having is that I can not for the life of me, find where to get the activation code. The original owner did not even have a clue. Can anyone help? I have the silver one, but could not find a pic of it.

Try here: http://www.geocachingshop.de/ however, usually the activation codes are sent with these coins

  2. I hope the powers that be close this thread. It was just opened to bash someone. I am not trying to defend that person, I just don't this forum should be used for such a thing.

Agreed, nothing good coming from this discussion

  3. I haven't been collecting long enough to have any elusive coins! There are so many that I want -- even limiting myself to collecting regional coins! Actually, that 'limit' isn't holding very well :)

I guess the ones I am seeking the most right now are the ACGA coins in gold and silver (8 coins in total) and the Canadian Forces Geocacher #3. I'd like to get the ACGA coins because I'm a member of the association and have lived in Atlantic Canada for most of my life. I'd like to get the CF coin because my father was in the Navy and even I spent a short stint in the military in my youth. I'd like the #3 coin because several of the names on it are local to me -- I even know a few to say 'hi' to!

Congrats on your surprise, CastleMan! The big question is, what would your next ultimate surprise coin be?

That's it. The Zombie Tribe was the one. There are no others that I want to get. Now's the time to start dropping more. By the way for those who cache in the Seattle and Vancouver areas, the Cheyenne Wyoming area and the Thunder Bay, Ontario area watch your caches because there will be some unactivated drops in those areas too when I come your way. Actually along interstate 80 from California to Des Moine Iowa there will be drops this September. Along interstate 5 from Sacramento California all the way to Seattle Washington there will also be drops in June. Watch those caches.

  4. Congrats on your surprise, CastleMan! The big question is, what would your next ultimate surprise coin be?

No doubt! I would love to hear what other surprise coin you'd would like to get :-) Especially as didn't you just release a ridiculous amount of coins into the wild? You must have an amazing collection, so I imagine whatever coin you'd want would be fairly tricky to get a hold of!

Yes, I released over 700 coins into the wild this year. I'll reach my goal of 1000 released as i still have two trips to Canada coming, one trip to Wyoming and at least two others planned to drop coins.

I remember local NBJPoppa's log when he hit Groundspeak HQ and unexpectedly found a whole bunch of Castle Man coins there... you made icon collectors *very* happy :-)

I'll be visiting Groundspeak Headquarters in June this year and doing the Project A.P.E. Cache "Tunnel of Light" also. I plan on dropping a few more at both places when I arrive.

Hmmm, one trip to Wyoming. Would that trip be upcoming and in the month of July? I would like to meet you if your going to be in the Southeast corner of the state.

Holy Somke!! Yep it's in late July in Cheyenne

    30 different selections....isn't that a bit much?

Hmmm, what agenda does this one have now? Probably the usual as we all know.

    LATER MINTINGS:

Tranquility Geocoin "Antique Bronze" Edition:: details unknown MINT ERROR MOSTLY GIVEN AWAY 25 made...

boy, now i am really confused, because i bought one of these from the castle coins site. it is on its way elsewhere as part of a trade.

    lara

I'm pretty sure that I have seen Jim sell some of his excess coins on the site, so you may have picked it up that way.

Correct, I did a spring cleaning and sold out most of the things I've had sitting in boxes. I even posted a few pictures of all the stuff in another forum so people could see how much stuff was lonely in the boxes.

or are the colors purple(t) / pink(t) / purple(t) / pink(t) - have seen both color schemes listed as "Purple Haze" ANOTHER NEVER HEARD OF IT: DOES NOT EXIST

    --snip--

This is all so confusing, which one doesn't exist? Here's the latter, which I purchased from the Castle Website, described as Purple Haze:

And here's a picture of the Black Forest:

The one that is claiming to have pink must just be a bad pic because non were made with pink and purple is all. The Black Forest was a mint good that was supposed to be Gold plating but I let them go and explained there were only 25 and informed the crowd that got them that they were made by mistake, that's all

  10. He's a horrible tease, isn't he!

    Naomi

he is, especially since he originally said 268!

    ;) rsg

    No teasing.

The day before there were 268

today 250, tomorrow 200 and expecting at least 1000 soon.

I am not going to be taking these to GW6 for sale. Just to show. These ??????'s will all be made public soon.

    No teasing, promise

  12. Yesterday I received a surprise in the mail.

    A Zombie Tribe Coin!!

    zombietribe.jpg

I've been wanting one of these coins for over two years and could never find a trade, couldn't purchase one or anything and then it just showed up in a mailer. Being an old monster movie lover the first time I saw this coin in a picture I thought it was the coolest looking thing I had ever seen in a coin.....and frankly...errrr "Frankensteinly" still feel that way. There was a note with the coin that read something like, "This coin is given just because, please don't send me anything in return, just do something for someone else". OK, here's something for someone out there.

If anyone is interested in sharing please write a short note here in this thread about a trackable coin you have really wanted to get but for one reason or another you have never been able to get it. I'd really like to see the reasons you want the coin and why this particular coin is special to you. Who knows, you just might get a surprise mailer like I did.

Edit to add: I'll buzz through here this evening and hopefully be able to treat someone to something special.

  13. As an interesting side note to this thread. When I was trying to track down a Moun10Bike V1 a number of years ago, the person who had it (that was no longer caching) must have realized that I really wanted. After exchanging a few emails he offered it to me for $25.00.

At the time I responded like most people probably would have at the time: "$25.00 for a geocoin? Thanks, but no thanks"

    ;)

I am most curious. Have the bruises ever healed from kicking yourself?

  14. For some reason, Castleman objects to this post and asked for the list to be removed??

No, no objection, just some of the versions were made for individuals that asked for them and the last time a list was posted they were contacted by multiple people and bombarded with trade requests.

  15.

Ohhhh, I almost forgot. I also received a gift!! A coin I have been searching for for over 2 years. From a really great person who has inspired me to give a gift to someone, just because. Thanks J.

    zombietribe.jpg

    :) WOW, you GOT A Zombie Tribe ;) I AM drooling :D

YES!!! And the gift note that came with this FABULOUS coin inspired me to do something for another coin loving person. Stay Tuned.

  16. just a guess: maybe a darthi v2 coin???

Is there high-demand for this coin? I know it's somewhat rare in the sense that it was made in limited numbers, but is there really a demand for it?

It's a cute design first and second he only trades them in person. Since he's a German cacher, for US people that means Geowoodstock trades only, and only if you have something he wants. I got mine from someone who was selling off their collection.

The V2 Darthi Dark is very highly sought after. The last one (V2) I saw on ebay went for more than $80 with 1/2 an hour to go so I know it went for more....that's when I decided to go back and finish watching the soccer game instead of getting depressed because I just can't bring myself to bid that high.

As stated earlier a 2007 Compass Rose LE went for over $250 recently and I think I remember the Copper XLE one of a kind went for much more.

The GSA #3 was charity auctioned for $297.00.

  17. 268 (Something Special)

Inquiring minds would like to know what the something special is? LOL ;)

    sweetlife

Why YES, yes I would!! lol

It's a curious number, I see there will be 9 Dala Horses. But multiples of 9 do not add up to 268 - tell us more !!!

I was thinking the numbers were the mint number of the coin...is it a mystery coin??

I'm betting that it is 250 of the coins and 18 artist editions of whatever coin he wants us to get very very curious over! LMAO

    Hmmmm, None of the above.

Is it a mystery ?............well, not now it isn't.

Since GW6 is so close I had better just keep a lid on this one and the other things that are bouncing around at the Castle. I'll be hanging out with the Landsharkz at GW6 trying to keep cool in the warm sun. If ya find me ya may get a peek.

Ohhhh, I almost forgot. I also received a gift!! A coin I have been searching for for over 2 years. From a really great person who has inspired me to give a gift to someone, just because. Thanks J.
