  1. We can see that you are already a PM. You can make your caches PMO using the geocache edit on the cache page.
  2. WE use Etrex 20s and that's the way we do it. The back button is your friend.
  3. Place it and they will come - eventually.
  4. I think quite a few noobs are finding their way to the Getting Started section. Many with only few, or in some cases no finds, are asking questions. They seem to be using the free app, because they are wanting to know if they need a 'proper' GPS device or which is the best device. Many more noobs may be reading and not posting.
  5. Perhaps a question to be answered before submitting for review. i.e. "How did you determine the coordinates for this cache?" I almost always include in the reviewer note how I obtained coordinates. e.g Make of GPS device, Averaging, number of days, and weather conditions.
  6. Would that multi be GC3ENK0, Apex, in Hawker Park?
  7. There will be a couple of events soon in the Perth area that you may want to attend. The first GC64FX with a Back to the Future theme 21/10 Burswood Park 4.29-6.30pm and GC659JD Meet & Greet 31/10 Garrat Bridge Park 10 - 12noon. There's sure to be someone at either of these events that give assistance.
  8. I've been to all three too but pre GC days. Will have to organise another visit to grab some more countries. If we hard started caching less than a year sooner we could have added Russia & Mongolia (Trans Siberia Railway Tour).
  9. Its interesting that Groundspeak have defined Macao and Hong Kong as countries, are they not both part of China? And, Gibraltar is a British territory. Hmmm.
  10. As it was archived by a reviewer it would seem that the CO has no interest in it therefore it is now geotrash. Retrieve it whichever way possible and if you have to break it, so be it. Clear up and mess, send the TBs on their way and log the find.
  11. I feel that the incident should be reported even if a little late. Who knows, this jerk may be in a habit of doing this and could be on the LEOs radar.
  12. You may get a better response by posting on Cruise Critic Roll Call. Also check you ports of call to see if any fellow cruisers have set up Events. Hi Colleda Done the Roll Call already, nobody set up events yet as the 3 month rule still applies , thanks. M Bit soon then. We were lucky to attend an event last August in Anchorage. It was set up by some German cachers and we happened to be in town at the same time after a Celebrity Alaska cruise tour. Very well attebded with Cachers from 3 continents all there at once.

  14. We live and learn. Thanks for the link.
  15. Was that a threat from the affected cacher in the Write Note? Initially I thought the WN should be deleted but on second thought I would leave it as it would show how ill informed they are.
  16. Congrats. I wonder if there is anyone else here that has found caches in more countries than their age. I was just checking and I've been on 5 business related trips this year (and one more scheduled in November to China) but all to places where I've previously found a cache. This may be the first year since I started geocaching (in 2007) that I have not added a new country or state. As is often the case when I travel for business I do a bit of "networking" with people that might lead to other travel. At the meetings last week in Paris I was specifically asked if I could travel to their institution to do some consulting. One was in Versaille, France which wouldn't add a new country. The other was to a University in Cuba but that probably wouldn't happen until Spring 2016. I also had some good conversations with the CEO of a company in Greece where there could be some potential collaboration. Meanwhile three of my colleagues are currently in Africa and have visited Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, and Botswana, all countries in which I have not found a cache. Wow. You've been to some interesting places but what about Canada? Would it not be easy to add that one?
  17. How many Mingos have there been? Is it a throwdown? What has happened to all the log books with 4000+ signatures? Does the CO maintain it? Maybe I'm a cynic but I can't see the devotion to this cache if it's not the original in its original state and maintained continually by the CO.
  18. I use Firefox on W10 to download to Etrex 20 and it works fine.
  19. I want to see all logs for a list of caches so I can see their popularity and proportion of finds. It is too painful to download separatley for each cache- I thought the pocket query would let me have them all - any ideas how to do it? You don't need all the logs to see what you want. All the Found & DNF stats are right there at the top and there is the favorite point score too with % of finders who favorited. Everything else in the logs is history which can be useful for other purposes.
  20. Same here. There have been a couple times when I've seen the cache, but haven't been able to sign the log for some reason. I came back later when I was able to sign the log. Then, after I signed the log, I logged the find online. Found one yesterday but my pen didn't work and I didn't have a spare and nothing else that could be used to mark the log. Logged a "Write note" that I would sign another day and then post my Found It. Could have done a photo log but don't believe in it and it sets an example for lazy cachers who don't carry pens.
  21. +1 on maps. There is not enough memory. Excellent starter GPS and very accurate.
  22. On your main menu click 'Setup' then click 'System' then click 'GPS'. You then select (toggle) and click 'GPS + GLONASS'. When done click the back button (top RHS) to take you back to main screen. This will ensure that you receive all available sattelites for most accurate positioning. Go again to Setup, then scroll down to and select units where you can select imperial or metric measurments etc. Also from Setup scroll down to 'Position Format'click then select 'hddd.mm.mmm' This sets your coordinates format to that used for geocaching. Also in Setup you can scroll down to 'Routing' to set your preferences. Forgot to mention. In Setup select 'System' and scroll to 'Battery Type' and set that for the type of batteries you are using. That's pretty much it. Other stuff you can play with and set for personal preference. Thanks for the info. Got my device ready to go. Gonna take my wife on her first geocache tomorrow for our 3 year anniversary. this one should be good too. from what I hear its set up like a scavenger hunt. Er, um, you have downloaded caches to your etrex?
