  1. If that's the one I'm thinking of he, the CO, is not called Big Matt for nothing.
  2. When I give a FP it's a message from me to the CO that I enjoyed the cache for whatever reason - nothing to do with sending any message to other cachers. The cache itself may be rubbish but it could have been at a nice scenic spot. It may be because it was a tricky/clever hide. It may be because I liked the cache container. It may be because the spot invoked some pleasant memories from the past. I have never ever sought out a cache on the basis of FPs.
  3. I tried that too and it worked. I think it's the first time I've logged out of the app since I installed it x? years ago.
  4. That's what I've been getting for some time now, like yonks.
  5. Well, it happened again today. I replaced a cache after maintenance and, using the app, tried to Enable it but the option was not there again. Had to do it on the desk top at home.
  6. "we aren't talking about the cache owner" Are not cache owners also cachers? Thread title = "Your caching experience" does gives not indication that we are talking about seekers only? You're grasping at straws. "OMG - "If those cachers are like me" - there you go telling others how they have to cache." This is not telling others how to cache but merely making a comparison on caching style. Do you have a comprehension problem, seems so. Sheesh. Back to hypotheticals again. "You're also sure those couple of cachers would have found it, because it's a low D". If the fake found wasn't there, and if I had not checked after the first DNF, there would have been three DNFs in a row (from experienced cachers). Is that not enough indication? What are the odds, eh?
  7. Can't accept any example that does not match your perception, eh? So you're resorting to hypothetical, "if the cache had been there but the seekers had been unable to find it" - irrelevant, the cache wasn't there but since you asked, if the fake found it had not been logged I would have replaced the cache therefore saving the next seekers from logging a DNF (it was a low D). Also, if those cachers are like me, where if I have a DNF I place a watch on it, they would see my OM and may well have been PO'd that some armchair logger had spoiled their experience of possibly grabbing the bonus(63% fav'd) - I would've.
  8. On reading logs on one of my caches I see a DNF. As I'll be in the vicinity in the next day or two I make a mental note to check on it. Next day a "Found It" is logged so I think to myself it's not missing after all and go about my normal business. A couple of days later there are two more DNFs. I think "Hmm, that's odd". I check on cache and it is indeed missing. I check other caches and find the person who logged the "Found It" has also logged other caches as found but has not signed logs - fake logger eh? So if the fake logger had not logged as found the cache I was going to check on, I would have been able to replace the missing cache and prevented the next two cachers from having to log DNFs. As the cache is part of series with a bonus cache they would have had to make a return visit to find the replacement to get the clue for the bonus hence wasted time and expense for them and possible disappointment due to the area being a popular holiday spot and these cachers may not be able to return to complete the series. Result is the fake logger has wasted my time and that of two other cachers. So, yes, a fake logger has affected my, as CO, and others', as seekers, caching experience. Certainly as per thread topic.
  9. Still happening. It's only a little annoying as I use my Garmin mostly. Is there a fix for this yet? I have V 8.52.0
  10. Looks like a couple of my Fernleigh Track caches have been hit. Going out this morning to check.
  11. I think I posted that as an irk some time ago. As a CO I anticipate the pleasure of reading logs, especially FTF, on new caches I put out. What spoils this pleasure is when finders, almost always FTFers, log a Found It "full log to follow" not realising that when they later update the Found It (some never do) the CO is not notified and has to search back through finds to see what happened. IMO it would be better if they logged a WN, which would alert others that the FTF has been had, then log the Found It later, after which they can delete the WN.
  12. I had a quick look and saw a couple of Found It logs mentioning, log only, smashed or only magnet found but no NMs logged. Seems like many locals here are not logging NMs. Are you finding that Lee?
  13. How can I check what version I have?
  14. I little while back I disable a cache that had gone missing. Today I replaced it but when I went to log Enable on my Motorola G4 it was not there as an option. All that was showing was OM, WN and Disable. I logged an OM, which was fine, but still no Enable option. When I got home I checked the cache on my desktop and the Enable was there along with the others. Odd eh? GC4R3TD
  15. I'm getting the same thing on my Motorola G4 including clicking Navigate again to get back to where it should be.
  16. I always go back to the map after a find as the next nearest may be on a loop where there are others to do, possibly, in order or there could be a river/gorge/ravine/highway in the way.
  17. Try asking here, more likely to get a response. There is also discussion re Montana 700. Cheers https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/forum/11-gps/
  18. Here's one of mine. Hint. Janis, Jimi and Jo were there. A tree on Yasgur's farm was their base.
  19. These days swag has become "treasure" for the taking. I'll put some in new caches but after that I will rarely top up.
