Paperless Caching - Let's Finish This

Change your tags in the cachemate name instead of the cachemate waypoint field. That way it won't affect the CG***** code. Good luck! -
Paperless Caching - Let's Finish This

The arrival of Vista has complicated some issues when trying to run the cm2gpx macro. I get the following error log. Hopefully someone will be able to recognize the problem and post a solution. -
Well I've managed to export via my SD card to my cachemate program. However, now I'm stuck trying to run the cm2gpx macro and GSAK can't find the file (cm2gpx.gpx). Any suggestions???

The link works, I'll have a look at it and possibly try it out. Thanks RenHoek -
I'm not sure that I «installed» it properly but I ran it from within the folder where I ran the USTopo installation. I'm not sure what It's supposed to do so it's hard to know If it worked or not...

Cachemate might be popular because of word of mouth. I agree, it's not the most estetically pleasing or user friendly program but it does the trick. The bonus is that many people are using it therefore there's lots of support in the forums. Personnaly I've never heard of GeoNiche but I'd be willing to try it out. However, when i click on the link provided, I just get a blank page... Hmmm! I've learned one thing by lurking in these forums, If you want help with something you better hope that it's something popular. Otherwise, you could wait a while. -
I think I've got it... It appears that there's missing info on the East set of Maps in the Fargo area. However, the info is all there on the West Map set. Both sets of maps seem to overlap

This time it worked. I had a problem with folders before. Now I simply have to apply the Minnesota patch so that it works in this setup. I'll try installing it from the same folder.

I did the install from Hard drive on my PC and it worked. I going to try again on my Laptop and see what results I get. The details I was losing were on all but the West Map sets. It appears as if my map details is set to lowest and stays at that setting regardless of whether I choose highest or not. I'm not sure What CTRL-G is supposed to do or where I'm supposed to try it. Thanks for the input, hopefully this will clarify my situation. I'll post my new results... Soon

Seeing my post going down on the priority list I figured that nobody has the answer on the tip of their fingers so I decided to do a little experimenting on my own. I figured I'll re-install on my PC using the CD's and see what results I get. (I installed from my Hard drive on my Laptop.) Mapsource works fine and when it asks for the «East» CD, I put it in and all the details are there. Here's the catch... When I do a «Check for update» from the Mapsource Help menu, there's a newer version out but when I try to update my Mapsource I get an error message. I can't post it here because when I do a Print Screen, open it in MSWord, Copy... I'm not able to paste it here.

I did a re install of my US Topo maps so I could use without inserting the CD all the time. When I did so, I lost the ability to see any amount of details on all but the Western part of the US. I mainly use Topo Canada but I'd like to solve this issue before I go to the US.

While searching the Garmin Website for another issue, I found a link that deals with MapSource & Vista compatability issues. They appear to have a fix in the latest update. Here's a link to the Garmin page... Garmin's page on Mapsource & Vista compatability issue Good Luck IG, Hope to see you around this summer

Thanks, I installed the patch but it talks about Minnesota and didn't help my detail problems Anymore suggestions???
-
Wich CD? Only the ones that don't show the details or do I still start with with West?
-
Here's my problem, I installed US Topo from the HD but the only region I can get any amount of details from is the West. Any Ideas?

Mapsource Maps To Hard Drive...?
Coach88 replied to AuntieWeasel's topic in GPS technology and devices
Hopefully someone can help... The Good news is... I can use US Topo without the CD's, The Bad news, on my US TOPO I can't get any details. I switch from Lowest to Highest and there is no change on the Map. Just as I explained in my previous posting. The problem doesn't exist on the Canada TOPO wich is great since I use that one the most. I should add that I did do the most recent update of Mapsource 6.12.3 -
Garmin Etrex Legend CX review...
Coach88 replied to LostMontanan's topic in GPS technology and devices
I was one of them who bought and cursed at the legend CX... untill I did the firmware upgrade. That worked for me. However, it was already too late since I had already gave up and ordered a GPSMap60CX... Wow! Good luck with your new CX -
Great... Thanks IG, I just confirmed that my Vista upgrade has a been validated (after 2months of e-mails and phone calls) now I'm not sure I even want to go there anymore
-
I don't have my 60CX in hand at the moment but you can change the day/nght color. Not quite sure if this would help you...

My GPS noob review of the Garmin 60Cx
Coach88 replied to xer0piggy's topic in GPS technology and devices
Don't get me wrong, I too love the a-la-carte idea but I'm not sure that turning a GPSr to a cell phone is exactly a fresh idea. -
I have no opinions on the foretrex but depending on how basic you want to go, you can probably find a yellow e-trex for dirt cheap on e-bay. If you want some mapping capabilities, get the basic e-trex legend. Good luck!

Mapsource Maps To Hard Drive...?
Coach88 replied to AuntieWeasel's topic in GPS technology and devices
I have Canada Topo installed and I beleived I had US Topo installed already. When I look at the drop down list i don't see it there. I must have did an uninstall at one point and never re-installed it. Is it safe to say that I could simply copy US Topo on the C Drive and install from there without disrupting my Canada Topo. On that same subject... Canada Topo works without the CD. How strange is that? Wich brings me to my next question... Is there a limit on how many installs I can get from my Topo Canada? I installed it at home, then on my laptop but when I try to install at work it looks like an old version and doesn't show the topo details even though in the Help/About menu it shows as the latest version. That's one of the reasons why i'm hesitant about un-installing from my main PC at home.
