  1. I DID edit the cache page. I see now that it DID update the cache page/log as well. I still have people going to the OLD coords- but most are going to the NEW ones. So I was confused. I think it's ok...
  2. Sounds like an advertisement for a Cruise company. This would violate the guidelines in more ways than one (Commercial cache, and a Moving cache. ) Nope, no advertisment- just going on one and thought it'd be cool to hide a cache. Oh well- I'll hide them at the ports instead.
  3. Why does the GC site not allow us to update the original coordinates of a cache? I have placed a couple caches on a cloudy day. It turns out that the coords were off a bit- so I had to update them for accuracy (people couldn't find them at the original coords). I updated them, but now the updated coords get buried in the logs and people have a hard time finding it again. It seems like it would be MUCH better if we could just update the original coords. Why don't they let us do that? What's the point of it?
  4. Hey guys- Would it be possible to hide a cache on a Cruise Ship? Obviously, the problem would be the coordinates would change as the ship traveled. How could I go about doing this?
  5. Awesome- that SEEMS to have done the trick. HOWEVER- for some reason I'm not seeing the actual caches show up- just the circles. Yes, I used the GoogleEarth Macro first. Kinda odd...
  6. Nope- that didn't do a thing to it- same results...
  7. Hey guys- I just installed Google Earth, threw in the GSAK plugin for mapping circles at .1mi radius (for placing caches) and am finding out that Earth SUCKS. The caches move around the map randomly- making it IMPOSSIBLE for any degree of accuracy. What other options are there for drawing circles on maps that actually WORKS?
  8. You would think that it's a coordinate- a hard, fast, numerical location- it wouldn't move AT ALL. This is VERY odd to me. Is there any other way of drawing ACCURATE circles around caches?
  9. Well- if you're using a plugin to draw .10mi radius circles around each cache, to assist in the placement of new caches) this makes it a BIG problem as well.
  10. Hey guys- I'm using Google Earth and the GC Plugin for it. When I right click on a cache (any of them, they all seem to do it) the cache MOVES to random spots! It doesn't stick to the coordinates given. This is a clean install. Any ideas as to what's going on here?
  11. Reading my post, remember that he did not give us the correct coordinates. Using the coordinates on his cache page, you get this: Coordinate Calculator Using Coordinates From the Active Cache Page. Distances from N 33 15.461 W 111 45.556: N 33 15.531 W 111 45.519 464 feet NE (23°) There is nothing wrong with the web site. Read my post above again. There is no reviewer note to that effect on your unpublished cache. I'm not Kreskin, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express about a month ago. I didn't give him the updated coords via posting to the cache page- I gave them to him via email conversation. I think we got the details ironed out here... I'll post back with more later. Thanks for the help guys!
  12. Oh yeah- those are updated coords- haven't posted the new updated coords until I figure all this jazz out. If it's 528' as the guidelines, then I'll have to move it either way. But, I guess I don't understand how he/the GC site is saying it's 45' closer than all the other sources are telling me? What am I missing there? Easy. You haven't update the coordinates. All he sees is the current information. There is nothing on either cache page to indicate that the cache is not where the coordinates at the top of the active cache page say it is. N 33° 15.461 W 111° 45.556 -- Current coordinates for GC1M0E9. N 33° 15.457 W 111° 45.566 -- What you put in the first post in this topic. That's different. If you don't have the coordinates updated and no notes regarding an update, the reviewer can only go from the information that is on the cache pages. The distance indicated by the reviewer is correct. So what you're saying is the reviewer's crystal ball is on the fritz again? jeez LOL- no, FYI, I gave him the new coords and he still told me it was too close- which spurred this whole discussion. I'm going to go back, re-triangulate the coords and see if I can get them more accurate. It seems everytime I go out, it's cloudy out, and makes the coords slightly off a few feet.
  13. ok- I see how to find how far away the other caches are now. I still believe there's accuracy problems with the site- but let me go update all my coords, then I'll post back. Again, either way if it's a 528' limit, I have to move it anyways. My main concern was the conflicting info between the GC site and all other sources.
  14. ok, let me re-phrase... how does the GC site calculate the distance between coords? All the other sources are telling me different- it's just a big difference and I'm shocked that the GC site would be that far off?
  15. Oh yeah- those are updated coords- haven't posted the new updated coords until I figure all this jazz out. If it's 528' as the guidelines, then I'll have to move it either way. 16. Hey guys- I am trying to publish a new cache. The first time it was rejected because it was too close to another one of mine. I was told it had to be 500' away. So, I moved it. According to my GPS unit, I placed it 510' away from the other one. It was rejected again, stating it's still too close. My 60csx as well as all the online calculators all state the same things- that it's 509' apart. However, the moderator is telling me it's only 465' away, according to the geocaching.com site. This makes ZERO sense to me. That's a 45' difference, and I don't see how it can be that big of a discrepancy between what he's telling me, and all the other sources are telling me. If it were that easy, I'd just move the cache (again). However, this location, and the nature of the cache design, it really can't go anywhere else. The moderator is telling me to move it 700' away just to play it safe. However, that's just not possible. I'm frustrated because I don't understand how all my sources are telling me it's 510' away, but he's telling me it's only 465' away. I don't see how to look on the cache page and have it tell me how far away the other caches are. I also don't think I should have to move it to over 700' away, when all sources are telling me its 510' away, and is within GC Guidelines. What am I missing here? I wanted to post and see what you guys think- see if your sources are telling you it's over 500' away, or what I'm missing on this one. I appreciate all the help. 17. No, the tracks were automatically turned on. I can see the little dashed lines on the screen everywhere I walked...
  18. No, didn't know I wanted to see how far I was going to walk until after the trip was over- so I didn't turn it on. I DO have MapSource and Trip Manager- just haven't installed it yet. I got a new laptop- but it has Vista on it. Will these run with Vista? Thanks for the help guys!
  19. huh. That didn't work. It's saying I walked 132 miles today. I know that's not right (although, I wish!) Here's what I got- I have a 'confined' track on the screen that I walked today. I don't see any other tracks on there, and deleted all waypoints before I went caching today- not sure if that deletes all existing tracks or not. So I deleted all waypoints, loaded new caches (via GSAK), turned off the unit. Turned ON the unit when I arrived on location to start caching. I did my caches, then turned off the unit again. Can you maybe walk me through step by step to figure out the distance I walked today? I really appreciate it!
  20. Hey guys- Is there a way with my 60CSx to figure out how far I've traveled based off my tracks? Thanks!
  21. That's true. Maybe I should clear out my DB, then download a clean file...
  22. Hey guys- I went out 2 days ago, logged 5 different caches. My profile shows the caches as found on this site. However- I just created a PQ for new caches, and input them into GSAK. Even tho I have the PQ setting as 'only caches I have NOT found', they still show up in GSAK. The other odd thing is- I used GSAK to log the finds 2 days ago. However, since they're in there (as explained above), I created a filter to give me only the ones I HAVE NOT found. Nope- that didn't work either! They're showing up in GSAK, even tho I have it set to filter them out. Again- the gc.com site shows them as found and logged. What am I missing here?
  23. ahhh ok- but it doesn't allow me to narrow the search results down to 'new caches' or DNF's and whatnot- it just gives me all of them.
  24. Hey guys- I'm using GSAK and would like to know some tips for using it more effectively. Is there a way to create a master Google Map with all the points on it at one time? If so- is there a way to color code/change symbols for caches you've either found, DNF, new caches, virtual, etc? Also- how do you guys use GSAK? Do you get a new pocket query every day- and then just open that query each day? Or is there a way to use a 'master list', and then MERGE the new query in with the pre-existing list? How would you find the newest ones out of that master list? Any tips on using this more efficiently is appreciated!
  25. Hey guys- Is there a way to take all the NEW Caches within a radius of my house and throw ALL of them on one Google Map? Same thing with all the DNFs. How do I do that? I DO have GSAK and am using that too. Any tips?
