Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I have just started geocaching and love it so far. I left work early yesterday with the nice weather and my wife and I found eight or so caches along the North Shore of Lake Superior and on our way into Duluth last night we saw a wolf prior to finding our last cache.

So is it a "rule" to buy one of these tags? Or can you etch something yourself and register it?

Brooklyn51 Can you look at the GC I spoke about there was supposed to be four of them in there. And I was unable to ID any of them.

Thanks every one I have the 3GS iPhone and my wife has the for better get to work tonight and have her get the app. This should help then. We have kept our searches to stuff we can ID from the description and stuff so far havent ventured deep into the woods yet mainly doing urban stuff right now. I just hate when I am standing still and the distance is changing from 60 feet sometimes to 100 and in a different direction. FRUSTRATING!!!!

How do you make it more accurate? I have only witnessed 55 feet. Granted I only have the app without any GPS type systems installed on my phone

Thank you both for the help. I am learning very quickly the iphone app is not the best option with only being accurate to 55 feet at best. I think the combination of a GPS and the phone will be awesome.

Today I found a cache, the comments on my iphone and on the website said there are four trackables in the cache. How do I identify the trackables (no pictures or a failure to ID the trackable)in the cache. I would love to have moved one of them along but I am struggling to figure out what is something I can take to move or a item someone left to say they have been there or an item to share. If you would like to view the cache I am talking about it is GC5EAB called Joint on the Point. It was a really cool one to find and had a ton of items in it, there for causing the confusion. Is it common to post a picture of what a trackable is? Are the trackable numbers supposed to be located on the item? Or is it left to our imagination if it is the trackable leaving a chance we are moving the wrong item and improperly playing by the rules and misleading the orginator that their item is moving. Thank you for the help and I am having so much fun doing this. Also what is the BEST GPS for the money I know I want the paperless feature for under two hundred dollars?

I just signed up as a normal member on the website and got the app on my Iphone the ten dollar one. I see when I search for caches there is a method to send the information from the website to my Iphone. Why cant I get this feature to work? Do I need to be a premium member? What I noticed is there isnt a format beyond logging in to both accounts with the same username that would link them. So Is this a premium member feature? Is it a communication based of finding eachother issue? Please help I want to be able to send a the information from the website to my Iphone as my device.
