  1. Oops! My bad. The time should've been 1 PM. This has now been changed.
  2. I'm currently organizing an event, and I want to create an event T or Geocoin. Does anybody know a good place where I can do this for something other than a' bajillion bucks?
  3. Hello. As you can see, my name is jazz_man. As you can also see, the event is being held in Texas. Specifically: the Bob Jones Nature Center in SouthLake; it's around the DFW area. That's the preliminaries. Here's the actual event info: The event is titled [a href=http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=ebbef689-edb8-464f-85c6-1f71ab5ca95d]Georace!!![/a] That's also the link to the listing. It's essential a race to the finish concerning a 10 part multi-cache in the BJNC. The FTF gets a prize, the rest of y'all get an event T or Geocoin or something... In case y'all are too lazy to go to the listing itself, here's a copy of the cache page: The contest will consist of a multi-cache style contest with varying difficulties of caches, such as puzzle caches. The contest will take place within the grounds of the Bob Jones Nature Center. There will be an FTF prize, as well as something (yet to be determined) for everyone else to take home (most likely an event T-shirt or geocoin). Georace!!! Date: This race will be held on September 30th, 2006 A.D. Place: The contest will take place within the grounds of the Bob Jones Nature Center. Time: The actual contest will commence at 1 PM. It will be beneficial to arrive approximately 10 minutes early, so as to hear the mission briefing. I currently am unsure of how long this contest shall take. Contest Description: The contest will essentially be a large multi-cache that we will see who gets FTF on. The contest will be comprised of 10 stages, with the 10th being the final. The coordinates to a particular stage will be handed out to each person or team, with the contestants as spread out as possible. The staggering is just to avoid everybody going after a particular stage at once. The caches will be "circularly" connected, so that all can be found by starting on any one. Once all 9 preliminary caches have been found, the puzzle can be completed and the final can be found. Once the final is found, the contestant (or team) will report directly to the starting point. After verifying that they found the final, the finder(s) shall be declared the winner(s). This does not, however, mean that the contest shall end. The other contestants shall be given a reasonable amount of time to finish the contest before the its end is signaled, and the awards ceremony is conducted. The types of caches will be anything from micros to (maybe) a few larges. There will be a puzzle or two also (it can't be too simple). For the most part, the caches won't be too hard. They will (hopefully) require some searching, but nothing more than a 3 star. If the stages don't interfere with one of the local multi-caches, this event will be posted as a cache afterwards, so keep a look out for that. I would also appreciate feedback on how well this was organized (I don't mind criticism: I need it!) Other Info: Part of the reason this event if being held at the BJNC is because they are currently renovating the old park and they would like some publicity. I have personally checked it out, and they do have some nice hiking and equestarian trails there, so it is also a good place for an event. A nice bonus is that this park, as well as the city of Southlake, are both very interested in and supportive of Geocaching. Calling for help!!! I would be very appreciative of anyone who could design a logo for this event. Also, any container ideas, puzzle ideas, or simply idea ideas that you would like to be in this contest, please submit as a note to the cache page. I will be getting all of them in e-mail. I can do this on my own, but it will be more interesting with a broader knowledge base.

  8. Hi. I was thinking about ordering a custom made batch of geocoins from a coin producer. Since it's not through Texas Geocaching or any group with pre-made ones, how do I got about getting them to be trackable? Thanks.

  17. "the hermit crabs" has got it right. 2 weeks is an acceptable time to hold on to tbs. Some people don't go geocaching that often, so they might be stuck for longer periods tahtn that. It's generally the rule to not hold on to any tbs longer than 1 month. you're well within that time limit.
  18. If you want to do what's posted above, you may. If you want a simpler (but less fancy) version, try this: Go to the geocaching main page. (i.e. www.geocaching.com) Go to the box in the top right corner and type in your zip code. (this is the easiest) The next page that loads will show a list of caches. Click on one you like. If you are logged in, the cache coords will be on the page along with a cache description. Print this page out. (if your're not logged, click on the "log in" link at the top right of the page) You're ready to go!!! After you get used to this way, or if you have some free time, just explore around the main geocaching website. Paticularly the "HIDE & SEEK A CACHE" link button on the middle left side of the page. Good luck, and welcome to geocaching!
  19. I'm qutie sure that anybody looking at this forum will, by now, be pretty certain of all of the issues and points of view involved here. In my (professional...or not...) opinion: 1) If you own any CD or other liscensed object, you can give it away. This is allowed by transferring the liscensing of the product (I'm just gonna' call it "ownership" of the object) to another person. As long as you DO NOT CONSTATNLY transfer the object back and forth between two people so that two people effectivly are using something with just one liscense, it is okay. It's just like transferring ownership of an object. It's jsut not a big enough object (such as a car) to have a llot (or any) documentation. 2)#1 only applies if you only have one copy of that object. Otherwise, the person who gets the copy (or the original if you keep the copy) has obtained an object that requires liscensing without paying for the liscensing. This=illegal. 3)Simply put, you can give away CD's as long as you no longer the exact same material. i.e. It was not from the exact paticular same CD that was purchased.
  20. C'mon people! This hasn't been posted on for days!!! If y'all don't like this topic anymore, I'll delete it. But I know y'all have more unique signatures thatn what's been said so far!!!
