  1. I have a challenge cache (GC59GMH) which, due to the nature of the requirements, was set up as a Premium Member only cache. Lately I've been getting a lot on inane posts on it from a newbie cacher who is only a basic member. How is that? I always understood that basic members could not see, much less post on, premium member only caches.
  2. In fact, almost everything you can do with this 'Advanced' Search can be done using pocket queries. New look, little more functionality (+ limited in distance). I was hoping to list my DNFs with this new feature, but guess I'll have to keep using a bookmark list. Only Groundspeak knows how many geocachers have a bookmark list called 'DNF'... The key word there is "almost" -- you can't search by cache name with pocket queries. It would be nice to be able to do a nationwide search by cache name.
  3. The ability to search by date placed would be helpful. Also why do searches for US caches have to be limited by State? If I want to search for all Webcam caches in the US, I can't do that in one search. Same for being able to search for all caches in the US that were placed in 2000. It would be really nice to be able to do a search that covers all of the US.
  4. Add me to the list. None of my 4 weekly PQs have been generated or received.
  5. GCQ8M9 was published on May 17, 2005 but has not been found yet. It is a 5D, 5T cache that requires scuba gear to reach.
  6. The weekly notification arrived but still waiting for my pocket queries . . . .
  7. I'm having the problem too, so it appears to be widespread, as least among Comcast users (which I am as well). Is anyone have the problem who isn't using Comcast?
  8. I have a Blackberry 7130e. Since it has a web browser, I just call up the web page. No need for a special program.
  9. I admit I've released both coins and copies. I try to release coins instead of copies but I have released copies of some coins I only have one of. As a finder, I understand the disappointment of thinking you're going to get to see a new coin and finding only a copy so I try to include the word "copy" or "replica" in the name of any coin copy I release so that cachers know in advance what they are going to get. I have noticed that the coins get picked up much more quickly than the copies do. There is clearly less interest in the copies. So far I've had pretty good luck with the actual coins. Of the slightly over 20 that I have released, I'm only aware of one that has been taken without being logged, though another was taken (and logged) but has been held for almost 6 months now.
  10. The trade items in most large caches I find these days are not that appealing. Happy meal toys for the most part. So the issue for me is not trading. There is nothing inherently wrong with micros, the real issue for me is the creativity (or lack thereof) in hiding them. Too often micros are placed in very predictable places and there is no fun in the hunt for those caches. Micros placed on a lightpole in the midde of a parking lot are a good example. Every now and then, however, I come across a micro that either takes me someplace interesting that I wouldn't otherwise have gone to or which was hidden with a lot of cleverness and/or creativity. Those make the game worthwhile. Yes, I prefer the large caches up in the mountains, but that is because I like to get up into the mountains, not because those cache are any "better" than other caches. Those caches can suffer from the same lack of creativitiy as the micros. Unfortunately, I'm not able to get up in the mountains all that often, though, and the urban micros allow me to continue to play the game.
