  1. Beware of the trolls. refering to under bridges/boardwalks heh, I just used it on a cache that really isnt meant to be difficult at all. What can I say, after doing a very detailed night cache, I needed to do something simple, and the park just reopened for a new cache.
  2. drool, I leave little mini bootprint stickers exactly like that on my find logs. This coin is a gotta have. I can only dream of a visit to my area.
  3. LOL Thats what I was just going to ask about. With all this hoopla we really have no proof that it even happened. The owner of the cache has only one hide and and no finds but yet he/she registered on July 06, 2006. Somethings not clicking here. sock puppet acct. , I saw that as soon as the original post was made. Mmmm, the rum n cokes are going great with the popcorn tonite.
  4. There is absolutly been a positive reaction from this ideal around here. Now I wont say it changed the world, but the word was spread to everyone through emails and the mini-event, not to mention the cache that was placed will continue to put the thought into future cachers minds. Proof is right here in this log! It all has to start with that seed in the mind that doing good to others will make this world a better place. I applaude what your doing. And please dont listen to any negativity, thats what we are trying to work against!
  5. seems lately theres been a solid stream of angst threads, one after another. Must be cabin fever kicking in? Cant wait for the good weather so maybe the threads will chill out a bit. Until then work on dressing up your profile page for fun (see what Ive done to mine?) and eat popcorn when you feel like visiting the forums.
  6. Look in the knot-hole dude. Cache is no longer in the knothole, but has been removed by a rabid rodent and has fallen on the ground. Because this a totally different hide I am inviting all previous finders to relog the cache. Uh-oh, when I went back to get a travelbug and couldn't find the cache, I left an altoids tin. Oh, I should mention that I urinated on the cache to mark it as well, since that's the way I play the game. Ive gotten two of your caches now as milestones, now I feel a little.......dirty.
  7. 35 if you check the calender, but I stopped doing that at the age of 25. Edit: so out of curiousity (and boredom) I averaged the first page replies. totaly unscientific of course. I think the 1 and 2 yr olds shouldnt have been included but I did anyway. I just cant imagine they are really hunting that much. I could be wrong Im sure Ave: 33 yrs old
  8. no getting rid of the GC.com map! Its so fun showing folks whom I'm explaining geocaching to. Really blows them away to see it every time. And love to see where I've cached visually with the check marks. Helps my planning ALOT for road trips. So far due to google map not showing that feature, I do not use it. Thats just me, but Im sure Im not the only one.
  9. thanks for the reviews, I've been curious about those shakers but figured it was to gimmiky. I did pick up those wind-up ones from Costco as a back up to my battery powered ones. Definately worthy for emergeny kits! With the light/radio combo you cant go wrong IMHO for the money. Gave my sis the other one for her emergeny kit. You wind for a couple minutes and get 10-15 minutes of light roughly depending on how long I actually put forth the winding effort. They have decient light for 3 LEDs. I like to use it to get myself in and out of a cache area to save batteries. Using the super bright battery ones (headlamp and handheld) while actively looking for the cache.
  10. I saw that it was refreshed earlier today, and just wanted to post a hearty thank you to TPTB! I know we are a pain in your butt n all. But its the little things that make us smile and that the map is one of them. So again, Thank You.
  11. Glad to hear she received one! She was the first person I thought of when these came out and I've never even had the pleasure of meeting her! You can just tell she does ALOT for the geocaching community around here!! Yes, I agree. So, now is this cache open for hunting? She took the cache we gave her and did place it here; Pay It Forward, Olympia. But had to pull it down about an hour ago for police activity. I'm quite certain its nothing to do with the cache, so no need to panic folks. edit: just a note to say if I had been able to get it all arranged with lots of lead time, her party would have been a full on GC event. But she was headed to volunteer in Mississippi for Katrina related assistance. So was forced to rush things a bit since it was better to do it before the holidays it was decided. And I'd like to give a huge Thank You to PIF for sending a sample coin to present OhJoy! since in the rush to get this to her pre-holiday, the regular coins were not available yet. The sample was sent back and her regular one came later.
  12. ugg, Ive never been in the stuff in all my years of tramping in the woods (knock on wood) and reading this is starting to make me get nervous. For years I didnt even thing it grew in the NW since I managed to never encounter it. Odds are I wont even know I was in it till way to late Im guessing, since I'm just not use to looking for it at all. does it stay alive all year around or just pops up in the summer like nettles?
  13. Lil Devil has made a working tool for producing a stat bar that functions correctly on Myspace. You just need to visit the GC.com stat bar creator and get your id number. originally posted Here Stats Bar Redirector
  14. confirming you have a working product there. Sweeeet! very cool and impressive one of a kind tool for us. Thanks kindly!
  15. I set up a mini party to present OhJoy! her coin rather than hide it. Got a Thank You card and contacted many local cachers ahead of time to sign it. Made a cache for her and folks pitched in goodies and coins. It made the whole thing more personal and from "all of us" who enjoy what she does for the caching community. So yes, she has her coin
  16. Rub it in? You missed the part where we LOVE this! (though I admit, the single digits we've been having is a bit much). On the very night of caching I mentioned above, Trippy told me he chose a job in Michigan over one in Arizona. When people asked him why, he said (not an exact quote) "When it's cold, you can always put on more clothes. When it's too hot, you can only take off so much." I use to run framing crews and would say that all the time!! I do prefer it cool, rainy, ect over the burning summer heat. Its so true, you can dress to account for cold, but heat theres no escape.
  17. to bad it will be 100+ soon down there. I'd love to be a snowbird though. Winter down there, summer up here.
  18. I'm not really sure. I know so far the info here seems to be as close to working as we've gotten so far. The stats are good, just no working link is all.
  19. no kidding, this one hit the wallet hard. so much for new tires for my quad.
  20. Agree 100% I don't think the quantity that people were ordering was the issue, the problem is the amount of people hitting the site at the same time. aye, but the reason for that is because of no limit sales. If I knew that folks could only buy a couple at a time, I wouldnt worry that a few are going to buy most of of the coins up and resell. As it stands right now, thats the situation. Do or Die...and the Die means going to Eblah and that bites. By limiting purchases, some of that concern would be alieved, thus less traffic at once.
