Ok...you've inspired me. I've had this idea floating in my head for weeks so I'll get on it and let you know when I've finally made my 'bury'.

I learned about geocaching at a Florida Trail Association (http://www.florida-trail.org/) Board of Directors meeting last May. A member offered the information as a way to develop a new 'type' of hike to get families and children interested in the Florida Trail. I don't think that has happened yet but I'm sure having a good time. Two new ones have appeared in my county. Since my sis and her little sis are coming up next weekend you know what the plans are now

"For my sake I don't always answer it. Bret"
Heck, for my sake I don't always even turn it on!

I have a titanium knee and will soon be getting another. I never did backpack or do great distances but even a 5 mile stroll is easier with a stick. Not to mention it's great poking/lifting/etc capabilities. I'm lost when I head out without it.
For sentimental reasons I currently use a beautiful shaped wooden one my dad made years ago. It has emblems from castles/walks he did while in Germany and I, like a posted way at the top of the list, feel I had a bit of dad with me when I go out. BUT...I'm getting ready to try to ski pole with shock variety. Sounds to me like a fine investment in comfort

Any local/nearby cachers in the area who would like to chat/meet/hunt/etc?

My sisters and I are celebrating the mid-sis's 50th at a cabin near Roan Mountain in September. Have taken mid-sis out on one cache and she loved it. Youngest will have first go while we spend our week in the mountains. I've done some prelim research but wondered if anyone had recommendations of caches/areas they found particularly enjoyable. Thanks.

I've only been to one in the area but it was a beautiful stroll in with a spectular view of the aquamarine gulf. It's hidden in sea oats which are protected (so move gently) at the end of Anna Maria Island on Bean Point. Well worth the trip so a place you'd likely not go to otherwise.

Thanks to everyone who resonded with a special thanks to Bruce. You have helped enormously with my dilema. I've only done a couple of local caches and was feeling overwhelmed with the thought of trying to 'load' what I wanted for a trip to Tennessee. You have given me a lot to go on. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

How do you all organize your hunts? I've read where someone writes that they stumbled across this (being some cache) when they were out. How do you know you stumbled? I end up with a trillion things in my gps and a million pages printed out and everything in my head in a state of confusion. How do you stay organized?

Thanks for the information and the leads. Planning to do Little Cache on the Prairie Friday morning with my sister. Hope to see some of you some day soon.
