Not having cached in several years I find it exciting to have people out and about regardless of what it is that motivates them. Yesterday I ran into a few pokemoners and we chatted. One of the things I find interesting about it is the ease. The few times I tried hide a cache I was so bombarded with questions from the 'approvers' that I would finally give up and forget about the hide. I WANTED to hide but holy crap. They did their jobs to fullest extent of the law and then some. Finds were turning into film canisters on lampposts. Ok for those who like that but not for me. My preference (and I realize the world doesn't revolve around me) was a nice walk in the woods with a cache of cool stuff. Difficult enough to do a little thinking and searching but not so difficult it took an hour. I actually like being able to find it. The final straw for me was at an event. A cacher had 'hidden' a nano somewhere on the restaurant property. I'm sure it was with the best of intent but it was quite difficult to find. I'm not sure I ever did. But what was appalling was the length fellow cachers would go to looking. Including TROMPING through this establishments shrubbery and landscaping with no concern of someones investment. To the point of destruction. We may be good in the woods but we aren't so good not in the woods. At that point it became sort of a perfect storm for me and I just disappeared. Often I think I'd like to start again. Maybe come fall. So there's my $.02 worth.

I was just sitting here watching some remodel show on HGTV and this guy in Key West (remember I'm in FL) had two cisterns in his back yard that he ended up using as the basis of a pool. Their was only one fast flash of a picture but they were almost exactly as the part of that think I think is a tank. That's why I liked it so much. The description said water tank and with that in my head I was looking for a tower but I was looking for the wrong (preconceived) thing. It said tank and it meant tank and I was like, DUH! It's pretty cool and has been around since 1935. I found this tank last week and not having done a lot of benchmarking it is my favorite find so far. While aerial photography can tell you what to expect when you visit a site, it cannot give you the "ground" viewpoint. Nor does it allow you to take a picture with your own camera, which is strongly encouraged on GEOCACHING.COM, and which is a requirement for Waymarking.COM (where a lot of water tanks are logged).

We are heading from Florida to Tennessee to do Sledgehammer and are planning to then spend a day in/about Nashville. Any recommendations of a couple of cool caches? Preferably not into micros since I'll have a couple of beginners. Thanks.

THANK YOU!! This is great. My friend has only cached a time or two with me and was so impressed with this place she ran to Target and bought a GPS. She is going to try to hide there. And will most likely do the two finds you recommended.

Anyone know if there is a cache in this park? I'm not there but a friend is and I'm trying to find something for her to find. Using a zip doesn't narrow it down much? Or can someone shoot me co-ordinates for the park? Thanks...

I have a query set for zip code 33813 but each time I scan to download I get a virus that cannot be cleaned error. Other zips are working fine so it must be a cache in the area. How do I find out which one it is so it can be fixed? Help! I really want to cache that area at the end of the week...thanks. floridaflamingo

"the only thing that is a little bit tricky with the eTrex is the method for entering coordinates" I bought one of the cables that goes from the unit to my computer, installed EasyGPS and now even that little complication is a breeze. IMHO - go for it.

Updating the firmware on my ETrex helped considerably. And my dear sister taught me to use the co-ordinates instead of the arrow and messages when I'm getting close. That helped a lot too.
