  1. I am finding that the surface tablet is a great tablet and meets most of my regular needs. It just doesn't work much for geocaching. I am unable to download pocket queries to the offline list. It is loads of work to download 50 caches one at a time for a trip out where you don't have wifi or cell reception. I find that the android app for an android tablet is a superior app for geocaching. I'm hoping that there will be another geocaching app for the surface as there doesn't seem to be any updates soon from GCexplorer. I had heard that there would be something at the end of April but nothing happened.
  2. Hey, I am trying to slim line my geocaching. I have a tablet which has the official geocaching app. When we are in an area with wifi, we download a quick pocket query with any info on the caches we wish to find. I would like to be able to download the caches via pocket query right via the app from the tablet to the our gps. Is there a way to do this?
  3. Thanks, We found the Acer 510 on sale and did purchase it. I am still trying to figure out the tablet and what app will work best on it. I will try the geocaching app and the geobeagle and see if they will work for us. Will keep you posted.
  4. Kunarion, what app or program did you actually load on to your tablet? As I mentioned.....I'm green at this. I was actually able to create a pocket query on my home computer. Can you load easygps on a tablet and use it offline? I'm sorry for being slow at this. We are looking at tablets and seem to gravitate towards the Acer just because it has the usb port. I'm thinking that once we hit a wifi hot spot, we could download more cache locations on the gps. Am I correct in this? I really appreciate your help. gm
  5. Thanks Kunarion, What app do you use on your tablet? There are so many apps around I'm not sure what works best. Is there a tablet that is a good one to get? As I mentioned, I am very green at this. Thanks
  6. Hi, We are extremely new to geocaching. We use the garmin etrex legend for geocaching but print our a bit of information for all the caches that we plan on doing. Sometimes we need it an sometimes we don't. We are considering buying a 10" tablet and not sure if we are able to download that information on it and if so, what kind of tablet is the best for this application. We don't have the android phones so that we can surf and cache. Can anyone help us with this? Not sure what we are doing yet but really enjoying the outings and finding new places that we never knew existed!
  7. hey. reset my gps and am starting with a clean slate and trying to load caches again. I will let you know how that works.... thanks for your help.
  8. no it does not. I am going to try to delete all the caches on the nuvi and try to start fresh. maybe there is a limit to how many favorites I can have on this gps unit. it is an older one. not sure what else I can try.
  9. when I do a list on what is on the gps (through my computer), the files are there.
  10. We are using the geocaching.com. We plug the nuvi in (just like we would with the etrek) and ask to download on the gps. It shows the nuvi. If you look on the files in the nuvi, it is there but it no longer shows on the map nor does show it if you search on it using the gps.
  11. We have a Nuvi 760 for the vehicle. We have been able to download the cache sites onto the unit. We travel with that GPS to the site and then use the handheld to find the cache. Lately, we have been able to download it, but it does not show up on our unit. We searched the files on the gps unit and they are there but they no longer show up when we are driving. Does anyone know if this is caused because of the new maps or am I doing something wrong. Not sure why it used to work and now it does not.
