Newbie here with a question. Just found my first white jeep today...but see that the 2005 Jeep contest is over. Is it just bad form to keep it, and should I send it on down the line...or since it was placed by Jeep Corp. and the contest is history, are these little guys geocaching collector's items? Any harm in keeping it? My gut tells me to let it go, but if lots of others are keeping theirs, I'd like to snag this one. Will do what is right....

I just bought a Garmin Legend C USB-only unit, and can find nothing out there that will let me download my geocaching waypoints into the unit except MacGPSbabel. I downloaded the file, and it is a folder full of stuff that looks more like PC items than Mac. There is a folder for Mac in there, but still nothing I recognize as an application. I am a professional graphic designer on a Mac, and quite computer savvy, but NOT a computer programmer. Is there anyone on here who can help me make a GUI for this app so I can make it work? All I want to do is load some waypoints into the eTrex. I've tried a number of freeware apps, none have recognized the GPS.

I'm one of those noobs that shows up right after Christmas. My son and I both got Garmins from "Santa", he a Legend and me a Legend C. We investigated geocaching.com, became instantly hooked after finding some caches in Eugene, OR and on the OR coast. I had no freakin' idea this sport existed, but it is the best way I can think of to combine my love of technology and the outdoors. I plan to continue caching, and am already practicing CITO as I always have on hikes. So I sure hope all of you experienced cachers welcome us into your world, 'cause here we are. So stoked I cannot contain my enthusiasm...and yes, it will stick.

My son and I both got Garmin Legend GPS units for Xmas...for geocaching. He got the regular Legend and I got the C. He also got the Mapsource CD and successfully uploaded a few maps onto his Legend. But while I was not around, he tried to also load some maps to my Legend C (without my authorization), and without an unlock code, every time I try and start the unit, I get an error that says "can't unlock maps". I have to hit the rocker a few times to eliminate the error messege, but I now am sure there are some maps on there I do not want. I have been on hold with Garmin a total of 4 hours today without success - very bad service. All I want to do is reset this Legend C tp factory maps and settings. Is there a combination of different buttons to push to do this? Also, I am on Mac and do not have access to a PC, so the disk that comes with the GPS is worthless to me.

I have just discovered geocaching, and am having the time of my life. What a wonderful, healthy way to mix technology with the outdoors! I would like to know if there are any clubs or get togethers of other Geocachers in the Eugene, OR area? Just maybe to hook up, talk about the sport, maybe take group trips, learn more, and broaden my geocaching horizons. Also interested in eventually placing my own cache and TBs, but that is a ways down the road. I am just having fun finding caches around my West Eugene area near the wetlands.
