  1. We saw one at MWGB. What a fun coin. Glad to see the joy that was spread around at the event this year!
  2. I was sitting with TMA & Clamm on Saturday night watching them trade with others and sneaking a look at some really cool trader coins at the same time. The table was really busy with people coming & going & wanting to trade. At one point Tank Hounds (I think it was Sue - I was pretty tired by that point) walked over to tell me something & then pointed down to the table. There was the most adorable little blue MWGB Mystery parrot sitting next to my bag of coins on the table. And then a little while later another blue one showed up on the other side of my bag as I was talking to Sarah - Crowsfeat30. I was glad to hand that one to her. Pretty darn cool! Thank you MWGB Mystery Parrot for bringing some more fun to such an awesome event! We are honored & thrilled to have received your coin.
  3. Really nice Mark. I know my dad would like this.
  4. Well we missed winning the poker game but I think I would have rather found what you did. It was nice to meet you. Congrats!
  5. LOL. Now that is just great. I still like the Jeep though. We have the bronze pin but no sticker so it must be something new. Geoaware, how do we, who already have the pin, get the sticker? Would love to display one!
  6. Nice stash there! Very, very nice indeed.
  7. LOL! I hope it isn't as hot up there as it is down here. I think we've been over a hundred degrees everyday. That Walmart parking lot would be miserable! But the company will more then make up for the location!
  8. I partially agree with you, but for me it makes a big difference. The old version was fine. The new version is close to unusable for me as printing of cache descriptions is regarded. I cannot recognize any improvement for me that came along with the update, only things that became worse. I am using Firefox (2.0.0.16 on Linux), but I encounter big troubles with printing since the update. It is not only the large font and the completely useless head line which justs wastes paper that disturb me. Before the update the second map (the one which shows the target location more closely) printed out fine, now there is just an empty box. I am caching in a region where there exist many caches with long descriptions (3 and more pages before the update ). After the update the number of required pages has more than doubled. I am very unhappy with this situation. The simple print option does not provide a workaround for me as I want to include a few logs and the detailed map. The pdf-options only produce garbage and the fonts are even larger than in the printouts generated by the direct approach. Cezanne Sorry. Let me rephrase that. It does make a huge difference to me. What I should have said was much as I would like to see them return to the old pages & printing method my complaint would make no difference to them in the great scheme of things. I can't see them going back to the former layout. A cache that was placed just this month took 5 pages to print. That's crazy. And while I advocate paperless we just can't get that method working for us right now. Especially as we cache when we travel and we need the maps. So we still have to print something. I've been having the lost map issue for a few weeks now. In both IE and FF. There is another topic about this and that issue has not been addressed at all. I did use the simple print option to capture the map (thanks to the person who suggested that) however out in the field the lack of logs and not being able to find some needed info - some items fell outside the printing margins apparently - makes the simple print page almost useless except for the map.
  9. No we haven't. There was talk. One idea on a napkin. And nasty-grams. But no work.
  10. The reality is that FireFox printing is better....but far from perfect. By the way, It would be nice, from time to time, to have a list of confirmed bugs that are currently being worked on. That should reduce the reduntant replies about the same issue. Yep only Firefox works. IE cuts off everything on the left. The large font size is a waste of paper as well. Now I have more pages to print just to capture the logs. Although it makes no diff, I prefer the old style of printing much better. And we still don't have maps printing!!! Why? This is an ongoing bug and was not fixed with this new release. Can we please have the map issue fixed so we can get them to print. Pretty please? half the fun of caching is getting to new areas and those maps sure do help!
  11. Having the same problem using IE and in FF it prints only sometimes. Generally the maps are falling towards the bottom of the page and getting cut off despite adjusting margins. You see either a blank space where the map should be using IE and in FF sometimes you see part of the map, sometimes none of it. Also, is there a way to revert back to the original map screen after clicking the i button? Any news on this? Now I can't even see it on Firefox. We need the maps for areas we travel to that we are unfamiliar with, especially areas with only gravel road access. Thanks for any help. Was hoping the new release would bring a change on the maps but nope, still can't print the maps. Is this how it is going to remain? Does anyone care?
  12. Could you tell me what the coin is to the right under the bisonwomans buffalo, it looks like a backpack, it looks so cool like someone quilted it. That looks like one of summerandnana's hand made sig items.
  13. Woo-hoo! My girl won. She is so excited. We're happy one of our 3 made it. Thank you Dan for everything on this race. It was super fun. And thank you to all who made the great effort to get our racers to GW VI! We had fun following along! w00t!!! Congrats to all the winners!! Kudos to Dan!!
  14. Sounds like a wonderful trip!! We'll be right behind you at GNP at the end of next month. I so cannot wait. That park has been on our radar for the longest time and somehow we found a way to make it work this year. You are going to have so much fun and see so many amazing things. Keep a small notebook with you so you can jot down the day's activities. It will help with sorting your pictures later and keep your memories clear. And of course caching helps with that too. LOL. Have a blast!
  15. I'm sure this one is on your agenda if you are going the way I think you are. Another not oft mentioned or visited park but one of amazing beauty. We found it on the map one year and were curious so we visited. We've been back several times over the years and every visit shows us something new, including a really great hike along the rocks that you can only reach by a wooden ladder nailed into the formation. Badlands National Park located in SD. Lots of history both of man & geology and its located right on the way to Mt. Rushmore. Not a park to be missed. Best times for pictures is early morning or late evening. It gets hot so bring plenty of water. And then visit Interior, SD for the best fry bread around. Yeah the place looks like a hole-in-the-wall but that is part of the charm. And don't miss the prairie dog town on the way in. And you absolutely cannot miss the town of Wall & Wall Drug. Some great history there, crazy fun shopping and actually really good food. I think coffee is still a nickel a cup. Its a place you have to experience and its all part of the Badlands. Couple caches for ya including another Earthcache. Badlands Cache Buffalo Pie - Badlands National Park Mr Green II Heck Table II
  16. Oh Tsun - I'm drooling at those pictures. I so cannot wait to get there! Ok for the real post - Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado is off the beaten path and a NP that not many know about. When we travel by car (which we do alot) we scour each state's map to see what might be different & interesting. Sand Dunes was one of those places. It's a fantastic park you can experience fully in just one day, and its a place you will never forget! We went there last year on our return trip from Sequoia & King's Canyon NPs. Sand Dunes is worth the trip! You can climb the tallest sand dunes in North America that are nestled at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Its a very user friendly park. Bring a bathing suit & good water shoes & hiking shoes as well. Here's a Virtual cache and an Earthcache, that could help you earn an Earthcache Pin. A Day at the Beach Got Your Buggy? We climbed fairly high but the lightening in these clouds - while awesome - was too much of a risk for us with the kids to keep going. But we had a blast!
  17. Activated coins should not be sold by anyone other than the person who activated it unless permission has been given by the person who activated it - aka the owner of said coin. I think CCC you should lock that coin and put the reason it is locked on the coin's page. MissJenn's recent comments regarding the lackey sum it up very nicely: The 2007 Groundspeak Lackey Geocoin is a gift from Groundspeak to certain lucky geocachers. As you may have noticed, they are already activated and owned by Signal The Frog. We asked Signal, and he said that he'd prefer to keep ownership of this set of coins. It is up to you, however, if you would like to send this coin travelling from geocache to geocache, or if you'd like to keep it in your personal collection. and Trading the coin amongst geocachers seems OK to me; you can grab it so that it shows as being in your hands. Selling the coin is not what Groundspeak intended at all. And anyway, if someone is selling one, will they be mailing that money to the owner of the coin?.
  18. Yup, he hit the nail on the head. And because the bulk of us don't mint coins and don't know the pricing on metals or potentially intricate designs, most just bought into it when we were told that this coin has a higher price because it has a fancy title/metal/color/design. It got way out of control in this last year with the multiple editions & high prices. I found that to be a serious turn-off for collecting these pretty bits of metal. I'm not against a vendor making a smaller run run in one metal or color and calling it the LE. The fewer number minted is going to make it a hot property just by that alone. Nothing wrong with the vendor capitalizing on that from the start. It is our choice if we want to buy into the name & price. Just don't price-gouge us and tell us how super special the coin is and that it can only be sold for the much higher price because it cost so much more to make. We aren't stupid. And for what its worth tsun, your method works perfect for us. But you need to find what works best for you.
  19. I can't imagine why not. Probably copper as well. People could pick the one that matches their Tag best. Love the Sherpa coin! Your new thoughts are intriguing especially since Pathtags can now be had in gold, black nickel and copper in addition to the original silver. So different metal choices with your fabulous designs Chris would be very cool. Of course I would have to have them all. Like the new avatar.
  20. Didn't geocoins start out as signature items as well? And look where we are now. I think Pathtags have been a trade item for a long time as well as a fantastic signature item, an expression of who we are, just as geocoins have been. Why do we trade geocoins? I'm sure the reasons are as varied and myriad as to why we trade Pathtags. With Pathtags you get a very inexpensive very high quality trade/swag/signature item. And everyone pays the same price so the value is in the friendships we form and the gifts we leave behind. The low price point invites you to create more then one, leave them in caches or just gift them to friends & cachers you meet along the way. I plan to continue trading them, gifting them & leaving them in caches and hope whoever finds or receives ours gets some joy from them like we do.
  21. Well, not so much "trackable" as "logable" Yep, they get found in caches (or traded) and logged at the website. Its just for the tag owner to see who found their tag. The tag owner has a map that keeps track of where their tags are. There is no tracking and moving of it like a geocoin. But you can log it and trade it again for other swag if you want. And not required to log but the tag owners sure like to see who has found their tag and where they end up. We found one this past weekend in ND and the owner lives in MI. Pretty neat stuff. They are true signature items and a lot of fun. Once you decide to log it you can check out the community over there. Great bunch of people.
  22. As stated above & repeatedly this is being handled off the forums in a group and we are all kept up to date and often.
