[Standard Encryption Method?]

Is there a standard method for encrypting the clues for mystery caches? I'm not talking about the "Additional Hints" located on each page, but rather the encrypted coordinates and such from mystery caches. These seem like a challenge, but without knowing where to start, I'm kinda at a loss for decrypting them. I know that the additional hints are in rot13, or ceasar as I know it, the other appear to be some other form of encryption. Any help would be appreciated, but only a starting point. I want to solve them myself.

or you can do like JAPTKD did and convince your wife tht she wants to come along and get her an account so that she gets hooked too! 

Heh, she got an account here sometime last month just to do research to find out what she needed to get me. I don't think she made any posts, though. The other day I was grumping because I had to wait 24hrs to get on the forums and she says "well, you can use my account."

 

I think it will be pretty easy to convince her to come along, especially since she likes hiking anyway.
