  1. I hadn't gotten a chance to look for rooms yet either, so I'm curious too. I have already designed several tags and coins for it though!
  2. You just say you'd like to be added and presto your on the list! (I got ya on there now!) For others curious, please reply to this thread and say you'd like to be added and please put how you'd like your name to appear on the coin in the reply post as well!
  3. Yep I have you! I changed the format a bit, and was able to fit 106 names on the front. I may still have to re-work it though, the names may be too small. I still have plenty of room though so we'll see!
  4. -UPDATE- I have re-edited the first side of the coin. PLEASE look it over and check that your name is correct! I am in need of MORE names for the opposite side! I will take 40 names for right now until I can figure out how they will fit. The same rules apply as from the very beginning, IF YOU HAVE BEEN ON ONE OF THESE COINS BEFORE YOU CANNOT GET ON THIS ONE. Some things to think about, the shorter your names, the more that will fit on the coin. Think about abbreviations, if they will work for you. With any luck, and enough new names this will be turned in VERY soon! Sorry about the wait.
  5. I have run out of items to restock this cache with. If anyone would be interested in having their signature items go into this cache please let me know. It has been a lot of fun seeing the different signatures people come up with over the years, and even more fun getting email from those finding them! If you also have a signature item cache let me know and I will be happy to send you some of mine!
  6. I have a feeling that that may not be a real listing. First of all it says it's in the smallest town in Tennessee. A Search of the area find a whopping 3 caches. While it is a beautiful location I don't see the pre-requisites for a GW. Hotels, camping, caches!!! The listing owner also only owns this cache. I think that only GS can make an event a Mega Event, so that is some sort of proof. I'm just glad it is within driving distance for us. I guess I stand corrected, it just looked a little off to me. I do hope it is there or at least close by since it's not to far from us! And I love Tenn!!!

Even though we do not know who is behind each and every one of them, we know that the spirit is good and kind and that means more to us than any thing else. To ALL the Mystery Coiners we do appreciate your thoughtfulness and wish you nothing but the best!
  9. Congratulations on finding those lovely peace coins! What a great message indeed and at a such an appropriate time. I took Bella to our little hometown Memorial Day parade yesterday, and was shocked to find myself shedding tears as all the vets passed me by. Something I've never given much thought about before suddenly had a HUGE impact on me.
  10. Well, sorta. Last I heard the fans had been ordered. That was last week. Since Christian is likely at GW6, I don't expect any news again for at least a week on these. The Pinwheels are delayed, I don't know how long. When I designed them, even though I knew they were going to spin I didn't think about how they would spin, so they didn't spin symmetrically, which was fine, but better if fixed, so that's what's going on with that one. (And also why I do not take money before I have the coins!) The pre-sales for my Roses coins ended and I placed my order for my version of those coins a couple days ago. As of right now, there will only be 19 Roses available for sale in this way. I have no idea when the Lizards will be in, haven't talked to Steve in awhile. Several other designs are in the works, and I'll update that on my site when I know more! I am of course anxiously awaiting all my coins and as soon as they are in my hands I will notify those who requested to have them reserved! Thanks for your patience and continued interest in my designs!!!
  11. Hey Jolene!!! I miss you girl! Congrats on the great coin find! I sure wish we were there.
  12. We have a cache in our backyard, not activated yet, I'm testing it for weather proofing, well I keep saying that but it's been out there for 8 months now. Anyway a couple months ago our neighbors started taking down trees. We got a knock on our door from one of the guys pulling down the trees and he handed me a nest of baby squirrels. After a couple phone calls I knew how to take care of them and did until after the workers left. As soon as the workers left I put my new babies out in the open for Mama to find them, and within about 30 minutes she did. Bella loved the babies and asked about them for weeks. She still asks every now and then. I was surprised to learn that I could touch them and that it was ok. I was also very happy to learn this because they were just so darned adorable. So, my lesson for you is, if you find a nest of baby squirrels... 1. Try to gather their nesting material. 2. Touch them to see if they are warm. 3. Fill a sock with rice and microwave it for 2-4 minutes, check it after each minute segment so that it does not get too hot. 4. If needed add an old towel, something you don't mind getting soiled to a shoebox or other small container. Put the rice sock in there then add the baby squirrels. 5. If the area is noisy (human noisy) or if there is danger in the area wait until it has passed (I'm going with the assumption of yard work, trees being cut, etc.) 6. Once it's quiet and as long as it is not too cold, put the box with babies next to or as close to the tree you think they came out of. 7. Step back, get the camera ready sit back and wait! Mama will most likely come back looking for them soon. The woman I spoke with told me that mother squirrels will look for their babies for up to 3 days after they go missing. Also that they (the moms) generally have more than 1 nest that they can bring the babies to. Don't worry about picking them up, Mom will still want them, but don't over handle them either. In total I had 2 nests given to me, one had 3 babies, the other was just 1. The single one I had to keep inside over night, in which case I put his box on top of a heating pad set on med-low temp. Unfortunately his mom never came back so he went to a shelter for squirrels. Another important note, NEVER try and feed the baby squirrels, if they are dehydrated they need to be taken to someone who can care for them.
  13. My Great Grandmother moved to America from Russia in the early 1890's. She had to pass through the gates at Ellis Island, which to me seems like a fairytale. She never spoke much English. One of my most cherished gifts from her is my matryoshka set. I was her first great grandchild so her set was given to me. It remains with my Grandmother for now. When I saw the other coin about a year ago I wanted one badly (still do), I'd also LOVE to have this set. (Maybe we can trade, one of my puzzle sets for yours!). Last Christmas while shopping for my daughter, I went way overboard, I was at a craft show and a man was selling handpainted matryoshka sets. My eyes lit up from acorss the room and he called me over to him. He was a kind man, older than I, and somehow I felt akin to him. He asked me how I knew matryoshka. I told him about my set. I looked around and said I didn't see it among his. HE smiled, with a sort of wink and from below his table pulled out a well played with set. The smile on my face told him it was the same as the one I knew as a child. He told me that the style of the one I had known for a long time was the only one that was allowed to be made. I wish I could remember his whole explanation. He said that set was the one he would never sell. I bought a beautiful set form him for my own daughter, for when she is old enough. I think it's important to pass down pieces of your herritage, even if it's just a toy. I like this coin avroair, thanks for making it!
  14. My original artwork is based on McEscher for sure! Whether or not that will be mentioned I have no idea. As a child I was fascinated with his work, introduced to it by my father who tried his hand at similar designs. When the thought occurred to me that it could make a cool coin, I had no idea just how much work it would take. It took me over 20 attempts to design them just right to fit within each other. I'm VERY excited that they will be available soon!
  15. While I've done cointests and given away a good amount here in the forums, I think I tend to leave more in caches, as well as donate them to local events. I've found a keeper coin a couple times, usually FTF gifts. I've been contacted numerous times by those finding coins I've left behind, telling me I hadn't activated it, or logged it in the cache. It always makes me feel good when I tell them that it's theirs to keep! I used to enjoy giving them away in cointests, but have received negative comments, and experiences from it. I once gave away one of our Gold UOTrackers coins. There are only 20 of them, we still have 13 of those 20 that were minted in April 06. It was immediately put on ebay. Kinda sucked. I leave them in caches a lot more than cointests these days. (And give a couple away to friends too! )
  16. I'm sorry you don't like them. This is my first time working with translucent colors in such a large amount. They are indeed butterflies on the back side. Maybe the art does it better justice? I haven't yet seen them in person either. The orange one was actually supposed to be pink, but again I"m not all that familiar with translucents and I was never shown a sample coin. This is my first time working with Coins and Pins too. Anyway, here's my original art... Whoops, my bad, I was solely focusing on them as flowers and didn't realize they were butterflies on the back! Now it makes a heck of a lot more sense, and does look like a cool coin, just my first knee-jerk reaction was "ack using wild color just for the sake of more colors!", which turned out to be waaay off base. Sorry for the unwarranted negative comments on my part. It's ok, no need to appologize. Actually it makes the coin a little cooler because if you stop to smell the roses you might just realize it has butterflies on it! Well it sounded good anyway. I'm glad you like it now!
  17. Congratulations Naomi and Fireboy! Such well deserving recipients. It's a beautiful coin too! Bella just recently learned about wishing wells, there's a koi pond at the Chinese Restaurant we visit and she now wants to drop pennies in it. They are not very big koi, but the park we take her to has Koi that are at least 2-3 feet long, they are HUGE!
  18. A couple of years ago when the movie (LOTR) was being filmed my closest friends and I made a pact. We'd always be together for the opening show, the midnight one, in Jacksonville FL. No matter where we lived at that time we would get back together in Jax for the show. We did this for each show! We didn't always get to sit together, the theater had something against us reserving a whole row, go figure. It started with the 5 of us, then we all brought extra friends to share in the camaraderie! Now with the Hobbit coming out in 2010 the pact is back on! I picked up 5 coins to give to each of them, my own fellowship so to speak! Thank you for such a beautiful coin! Also for the opportunity to finish my Christmas shopping for this year!

  20. Yep, my AE's (if enough sell) will be $15.00.
  21. How often are you out after the find and forget to take pleasure in the location? I know I've done this, it's easy with a cranky toddler to just want to get it and get out, but there are just too many lovely places to overlook! I was thinking about this one day last year while we were out caching, without Bella. I had my camera so I took a LOT of pictures. When I got home the old saying planted itself in my head and wouldn't let go...and this is what I did with it! From what I understand the pre-sales of these coins will start either on May 9th or 10th. There are other pictures of them here. I haven't seen them in person yet, but the pictures look fantastic! I hope you like them!
  22. I don't know the reasons at to why these coins are being sold, but since mine is in there I will be contacting the seller to try and get it back. One thing to note, to anyone who was looking to buy it, Our coins have ONLY ever been sold for the March of Dimes, and to date only 2 maybe 3 have fallen into that category. As for never to be made again, I've never said that wasn't a possibility. If you've been after one of our signature coins, please do contact me. EDIT: I spoke with the seller and mentioned changes needing to be made. I also now condone the sale of this coin and hope that it helps in this particular case.
