  1. I use both, digital mapping is only as good as your batteries. So if I'm out and about, especially in the wilds I always carry map and compass, but use Mio 550 with Memory map, cachemate and Garmin GPSmap 60csx. There is a difference between knowing where you are on a map and map reading. Moss T
  2. Couldn't have put that better myself. It looks like another bout of stanav bashing by the media. I think that without the satnav even being there she would have done the same thing - maybe it was an incorrectly marked crossing or she was just not paying attention. Said it before and will say it again.. Sat Nav is an AID to navigation, to be used with caution. Othere wise I would have probably gone down many a one way street the wrong way. Moss T
  3. Ruin the game!!! I have done an article for computer active, and a slot on Inside Out NE. I think most areas have had the inside out slot. Its been on Countryfile and loads of other coverage. It won't ruin the game, most come into it because they enjoy a walk and this gives them a reason. Mass influx.. and archived caches.. I think not. Moss T
  4. Sorry to hear about yer misshap, get well soon, and it will take a while. If you wish I can put my walking stick on car boot sale, the one I used after my tumble. And you must write a good yarn about it. An those chellyhopters are smelly Get well soon Moss T
  5. Congratulations to Jess, being the fearless four legged cache finder she is, this weekend she hit 800. Very well done I say. She had a wee bit of help from Graham an MRF (Mandy Running Fast) once they realised that there was caches north of the river Tyne and could get across it Well done folks.. an I am hot on yer trail.. cacheing up PS.. for those not in the know it is for team Us 4 and Jess thought I better point that out.

  9. That's a big Ding to Rutson. it looks defiantly to be reached before the end of the month. Well it certainly kept you all guessing long enough, that will be another 2 PQ's used up So the flattening of all hills in UK to make for all 1 star wheel chair friendly caches is a no goer then.. bugger.. OK I'll get me coat Moss T

I think.. until I am telt otherwise. Much easier to do wot yer telt as it saves mopping me blood up offa the floor

  15. I have logged this cache a couple of times, and the name says it all, Ye Ole Survey Monuments , they are not just trig points. If I remember of the couple I found one was a height datum, another was a stud. If I remember the OS website had the relevant information for the 'Monuments'. Some of those found are quite intriguing and go back to the early days of OS.
  16. Caches should be place in such a way as to not require any form of tool to place them.. i.e. boring tools.. This is no different to burying caches.. natural defiles etc are acceptable.. making them in post etc is against the ethos of Geocaching. Short but sweet.. with you Witchy dear
  17. OK.. never been to a camp event.. so to me this is gossip.. yach!! Say a few words.. Civil Libities.. Up to consenting adults.. as to when and where. (As long as it is within reasonable bounds) They are PUBLIC campsites. Can you be sure that the sleeping bag hopping WAS cachers. ??? Do you know every cacher to be able to ID them If things happen on a camp meet then it is no more the business of anyone else than the parcipitating parties. Will folks boycot a campsite because consulting parties MAY be enjoying some TLC without there kids!!!!
