  8. The question is.. If some one takes the time to set a cache.. do we owe it to them to write a worthy log? So often you see on cache logs 2 or 3 words then TNLN TFTC!! I personally try and write something at least decent be it dire or silly and I never use TFTC or TNLN. I am not on about the logs in the caches but on the web page logs. Coments please an don't get into a flame war.. or I'll ban the lot of yer Moss T the infamous!!
  9. It now seems that posting in two seperate forums is spamming.. Oooooooooo I'm up with those that send spam to millions.. Duh! get real peeps.. You closed that thread as it was detrimental to how you would be concived.. And if you think threatening me that I will be monitored is going to scare me off.. yer wrong.. Just shows what we are actually on about.. Big Brother and killing off a way of improving the lot of some who aint as fortunate as others. And isn't it a bit hypocritical to condem those who try and raise funds for the needy and then promote corporate events.. Jeep and Ape Moss T again
  10. This could happen to you..!!!!!!!!! I posted this in the UK forum Now.. what can I say.. Oh aye.. The Lackeis.. paid and unpaid. What has gone wrong here.. Big Brother.. George Orwell Circa 1984 aka Big Brother. I was in at the early stages as was Jeremy.. reviewer, moderator.. did I always make the right call.. OOOO I wish life was so simple. Sooooooo the question really is .. does the UK moderate itself and all the little ecentricities that occur. Can the US based lackies confirm 100% that all the other none speaking forums are being forced.. as we are to conform to the Non-commercial - Non-charitable. Can you confirm that you have in the Ivory tower folks who can speak and read all the languages that are used in these forums and that they are all adhearing to the guide lines. Or is it we are fingered as we speak PROPER English.. You have done more damage to your income in a few posts than you can ever imagine. Let those in the know control what they know.. Reet peeps.. I'll wind me neck in.. Been there, done that.. An I can still play without paying for it.. Moss Trooper Ex everything.. Night Night and thanks for the fish

Just hope those (if any ) who take your place are up to the level of you an that wasp person [] Sprry to see both of you go.. but you have both served the UK geocacheing fraternity with a well informed an even hand. 14. Hi Peeps, As this subject keeps popping up I decided to do a search on when I designed and bought my stamp, seems it was about mid April 2001 When I find the artwork I will post it as my Avitar has changed since then. Trouble is I keep finding it then loosing it.. Tend to walk around with stickers in my pocket these days. Moss T
  15. I just had the single whammy.. snot gobblin bog rats got my TT 910 whilst I visited a company in Manchester this lunch time. I took TT and mount off the windscreen and put it in the door pocket. Seems they hang about the area and if some one parks up in a company car park they do the car.. just in case you didnt put it in your pocket. At best bust window.. at worst window and sat nav. Next one gets a slight mod.. I belive the military call them an IED.. Moss T

Nuff said.. more to life.. think of our guys in Afgahnistan and bring it in perspective. Yes I peeeeeee'd of with such a pathetic thread
  17. Hi Folks The question is have we topped out on quality? When I started this game I would place a cache.. JasonW would place a cache and we would both go searching and enjoy. I have learnt so much about my local area, give or take 50 mile. Finding post holes in a river bed, from a bridge built by the Romans a while ago. And then realising I walked the same trail long before GPS was even a twinkle!!! There seems now to be a culture of placing caches for the sake of it. Do folks think that we should accept that we have topped out, and ther should now be no pressure on new cachers, or any one for that matter to plant a cache. Shouldn’t we just let the new comers go out and find quality caches, appreciate what is about and absorb it. This thing on Motorway Mayhem and the others, plus the comments that were VERY tongue in cheek seem to be nothing more than picking up numbers. We are a small country and I am glad I was in on the start. But I can now see that we should now try an focus on quality and not it meets the guide lines. As an ex reviewer.. I would not want to be in the shoes of our intrepid trio these days.. Toooooooooo much pressure.. and I’m probably more of a cause than most. Please.. No flame wars just good solid discussion on how to maintain geocacheing in the UK.. Moss T
  18. How about a t-shirt or coin asking the Scotch to leave Berwick-Upon-Tweed alone! careful, they'll be telling you scotch is a drink and they are scottish Well they would be correct of course.. but then I'm a true sasanach an I do me own tee shirts as well

  21. I'm still using the same basic yellow etrex as I did on day one and it cost me £99 on the high street, about what it is now. What has changed is the number of caches. I think the number of UK caches were in the hundreds rather than the thousands and you could probably have fitted all the active cachers on a single decker bus! Caches in the hundreds in 2001!!!!!! When I started I would hide one and another cacher would hide one and we would both do a 30 odd mile round trip to find each others!!! As for the house brick.. Not quite but pretty close. My first GPS was a Garmin GPS 12 I still have it and I belive there is a cacher still activly using one. My usual one is now a Garmin GPSMap 60CSx. Moss T
  22. I spotted this remark from The Mountain Rescue on the beeb web page, 'The organisation says there is a rising problem with people without the correct equipment or who cannot read a map.' This imediatley brought to mind my quad trip on 29th Dec 2007. I was out bagging a couple of caches, one of which I turned back on as I didn't have the kit or a companion. I was heading back along what used to be a drove road. At a location I often use for a brew up I was flagged down by a group of, dare I say 'Hill Walkers'! This place is about 1km from the nearest farm and 4 Km from the nearest village. These hills are nasty while riled but they did have some gear, rucksacks, poles, maps and compass. The conversation was on the lines of Them "Hello" Me "Hi, how goes it? Nice day for a walk." Them " Yes it is, could you do us a favour and tell us where we are!" Me " Wholehope Cottage " (Not that it has any walls LOL LOL ) Them " No, I mean show us on the map" Me taking map " Your right there just by that little square" Them " Ah! Thanks, can you tell us how to get back to Alwinton?" Me " Turn around and follow the track" Them " No I mean a different way " So me being the kind gent I are showed them two different routes back. I could not belive they were lost even just following a track in good visability and loads of reference points. As we used to say .. All the gear No Idea!!! Just makes you wonder what goes through some folks minds! 6 people and not one could map read. And this was going to get worse as the weather was failing and so was the light!!! Ah well I made it back safe
  23. Hi Mr WG Have you thought about using a serial to USB converter. You should then be able to connect your trusty 12 to your laptop. Moss T
