  1. I dont print the whole page. just enough info to get me to the cache. I can usually get 10 to 15 caches on a page, the city at the end is just the closest, cache could be 2 to 3 miles from the city. Copy ,paste, and cut can be time consuming, but I don't watch much tv, and work on it an hour or two before and after work. for example, (GC27B1K) N 43° 25.128 W 088° 37.942 Bobs hide by rocky&kids, An old friend of mines bar & restraunt long time ago it was called Woods Bridge. His family owned it , it had other oners since it burnt down.log cabin house there now. You are looking for a samll camo plastic bottle with little goodies in it , bring a pen to sign log sheet . 2. (Rant on) I can understand and appreciate any number of reasons for making a cache preimum. but why would you first make it available to the regular membership and then make it premium?, do you think the regular membership forgets where it is? If you have a reason for doing it this way I would suggest you archive the cache and then move it to a different location. Two reasons I'm miffed about this. 1st, I have a TB hotel I can almost see from my front window. It was regular membership, It's now premium membership. It was convenient to drop bugs off collected from out of town. If I knew I wouldn't be able to place them right away. 2nd, I can no longer read the logs of caches I've logged as found any longer. Some were memorable, and it was interesting to see if other Cachers had as much fun or enjoyment as I did. If I found a cache before it went premium I should still be able to have access to it. I like to spend my free time running around in the woods. Geocaching is a plus. With the economy and the price of fuel, its getting harder and harder.to do this. I'd like to be a preimum member, I realize yearly fees aren't much it's just an issue I can't/don't want to deal with right now.(Rant off) TygerD
  3. I agree with most. Log a smiley, or log a frowny, and leave it at that. Its the Journey that counts for me. Not the number of journeys. TygerD
  4. Here in Wisconsin, we rarely terminate muggles. We capture them and put them in a reeducation center, where we brainwash errrrr..... teach them to wear cheesehead hats, love the Greenbay Packers, and Geocaching. If they can't be brainwashe.. errr trained. We send them to Minneosota. TygerD
  5. Thanks for all youe replies. Depending on how/where/if, the cache is relocated, I may or may not, refind and relog this cache. TygerD
  6. A cache gets muggled, or is found to be on private property, or someother reason. but was already logged as found, and then is moved to correct the problem, be it 5 feet or a 100 feet. and the coord's are changed on the page, is it cool to refind it and log it again? This happened to me today and the cache was immeadiatly archived. They plan on moving the cache to a new location. Depending on where they move it to, I just might go to where they move it to, and log it again. Just looking for thoughts on the subject. TygerD
  7. I'm a golfer, sort of, Lefty too. (don't ask to borrow my clubs, I learned to play with right handed clubs.) I don't get out much anymore gettin to expensive. Caching is cheaper, sort of, (Gas is gettin expensive) Now if they could put a gps tracker in a golf ball, I wouldn't lose so many. Might be an incentive to play more. Both sports get you outside, both offer some relaxation and exersize. In golf if your really, really, really good. A week could net you a Million or so dollars. In geocaching if your really, really, really good. A week could net you a couple a hundred or so caches . I suck at golf. I don't suck at geocaching. What are you good at? TygerD
  8. Just another 2 cents worth but theres another new product out that I've had execellent results with on mosquitoes. You'll have to google it as I don't have the web site handy. It's called Bugband, its deet free, it contains Geraniol
  9. Ever entered the wrong coord's for a cache. And how far did you get before you realized something wasn't right. I'm afraid to admit it happened to me today. It only cost me a 2 mile trip around the block. Later, on another I entered the cord's to a parking area, and spent 5 minutes looking for the cache, before I realized I hadn't entered the coord's for the actual cache. Oh well it was a nice day
  10. In amungst some change I happened to notice a one dollar bill with some writing on it. Where's george.com. Not giving it much thought. I promptly and (now) sadly spent the bill at the next store, but the where's george.com stuck. When I checked out the web site I found a lnik or reference to geocaching, and since I like roaming around in the woods, thought this sounded kinda cool. The rest is history.
  11. Thanks for your replies. I don't look for benchmarks, but I have stumbled across one, When the snow melts here in wisconsin I may just look it up and see if anyone else knows is's there.
  12. Anyone know why is it called a bench mark? It's actually a geodetic survey marker isn't it? Just curious
  13. How do you hunt an underwater cache, obvisouly(sp) you don't take your gps over the side with you.
  14. Hey it says geocacher instead of tadpole under my name, does that make ME an unnewbie now?
  15. I have a compass but don't usually carry it with me unless I'm headed for a large wilderness area. I usually have pretty good sense of direction, but I do get turned around once and a while. once asked of daniel boone if he was ever lost, after scratching his head for a while, he replied, nope, a might bit bewildered for 1 or 2 months at a time, but never lost!
  16. I don't log dnf's because of snow cover. Some are listed as availible in winter but not winter friendly but I look for them Because I'm in the area, and I don't like rooting through the snow. Some are listed as availible in winter and winter friendly but don't say weather they're off the ground or not. I won't mark these as dnf's either, and will try them when the snow is gone. I expect my dnf's will go up this summer when I don't have the snow as an excuse anymore.
  17. dynamite for opening stumps, large bolders, and hollow logs. chainsaw for ones that can't be reached in trees. and a backhoe for those really deep ones. I'm currently in negoations with the navy for a mimi nucular submarine for those underwater caches.
  18. Just a thought. how about a charity cache. two boxes one with slot for the money securely locked to the location and the other with log book to sign. probally have to be in city location.
  19. thanks again for the replies as this answers my question I'll mark this post closed
  20. I read somewhere that your supposed to e-mail the cache owner when you find their cache. Is it really necessary if there is nothing wrong with the cache? And if your not getting any e-mails how often do you check your logs, some people have 100's of caches hidden, must be a lot of work to keep track of everything.
  21. Thanks for the replies. Kinda thought that would be the case but wasn't sure. Still findin my way around the sport, the unit, the web site, the forums TygerD
  22. This is short notice but I just saw the ad a short time ago Channel 6 news in the the milwaukee WI area is going to talk about "high Tech Treasure hunting on the 9:00pm news tonight (02/06/06)
  23. I'm currently entering cache coordinates manually. I usually do this in the house and my unit (exp. 210) tells me this is a 2d fix do I want to continue? My question is, will this affect accuracy in the field. Of the last 2 caches I tried locating, one I found was 64 feet off the mark, and the other that I dnf. was 400 feet off the mark which would of put me in somebody's house or backyard. Or could it have been the weather? the first was in heavy tree cover with no leaves on the trees and the second there were very few trees, both were looked for on the same day, which was heavly overcast threatning to snow.
  24. I've got an idea for a cache, but it's approxmately 20 miles frome my home. How often is it recomended to check up on your cache. Thanks TygerD
