  1. I'm barefoot right now and I'm reading the forums, does that count?
  2. Thanks for the reply, I didn't know I had to transfer the files from the card to the GPSr. Do they need to be waypoint files or the same files I use for my Magellan Explorist?
  3. My buddy just bought a used meridian gold and we need to know what type of files to download for geocaches. Will GPX files work in the gold or is it some other format?
  4. You got a linky to the tape? I can't find the site I bought the roll from (I originally got it to mark my mailbox five years ago.) But I found This marking kit by doing a search for "black reflective tape" on google. AK Cool, thank you AK.
  5. When the poles switch, will we be able to have Cristmas in June?
  6. This cache included a hundred yard wade up a creek. I had stripped off my boots and socks, waded to the cache, waded back, dried my feet and tied my bootlaces when I realized my money clip with abot $80 was gone. Off come the boots, socks, wade, find the money clip, wade, dry, reboot. Alls well that ends well.
  7. I'm 59, my grandaughter and cache buddy is 9, average age - 34. I feel younger already.
  8. I know some card and coin tricks and regularly amaze my grandkids with my pretigfd..., prestidrewi..., predtihjk..., magic. My advice: If you want lots of feedback (finders and logs) keep your hides simple and easy.
  9. Blowboaters need that MOB function. Sailboats dont turn quickly and have trouble doubling back on a track due to various wind conditions. One chunk of ocean looks remarkably similar to any other chunk and you can lose visual contact with a persons head bobbing in the water within a couple of hundred feet. It's probably used more often in retrieving someones hat that's been blown overboard. I have also used the MOB for salmon fishing. Salmon school and when you get a hit, it's nice to be able to go back over the same spot.
  10. How about a Hunt of cachers. From wiktionary (kinda): The word applies collectively to a group of hunters practicing a hunt. It may also take the form of a search for a specified target that can, unlike a hunting prey, remain unheard, as in specific compounds such as scavenger hunt or treasure hunt.
  11. Make sure the tail of the cable is running down the back of the GPSr. The unit will charge with the cable in the up position but will not connect to the computer.
  12. You might not be as bad off as you think. Check out this link BEE VENOM THERAPY. Wife and I both got stung multiple times last week while clearing brush. We are both old enough to experience lots of joint pains. After the initial pain, we both felt better for a few days.
  13. Aw; just stick your arm in there up to the shoulder. What's the worst that could happen?
  14. Geo Tracker = 9.31 MP$ Truck pulling 37' 5th Wheel = 2.66 MP$ What's your cost to go to work? = 0.00 I'm retired
  15. Thanks for the replies I'm in the pacific north wet. Map datum? Everything works like a charm except for the occasional miss. I can even see the error when I zoom in. The goto just misses the spot. I've never noticed it when I select a goto from the cache list.
  16. Occasionally when I use the GOTO on my magellan 500, it locks into a point up to 200' off the coordinates of the selected geocache. I've got the newest firmware version and it only happens once in a while. Any suggestions, answers, would be appreciated as this sent me into a blackberry thicket the other day when the cache hider intended me to negotiate a steep bare hillside. Spent 45 min. looking before pulling my GPS out of my pocket and rechecking the coords.
  17. OK, maybe I went a little overboard with a LifeDrive, but I won't run out of space anytime soon. Put all the digital pics and MP3s on it and still have a couple of gigs left. The li-Ion battery seems to last forever. Spinner and Plucker work great for me
  18. I have Saturdays off, which is the best day for geo-caching. Oh, BTW, I'm retired, so every day is a Saturday. We have some real active cachers around here (active cache hiders) and I often wait days to see who is going to get an FTF before grabing it. After about a week the call becomes irresistible, and away I go.
  19. Thanks for the info Stunod, I must be looking in all the wrong places.
