  1. Several years ago my brother created a new e-mail address. Within a few hours, and having not given the address to anyone, the first e-mail he received was spam. It can happen through a program that guesses at possible e-mail addresses and sends out en masse.
  2. Yes, but future cache seekers shouldn't have to hunt through the previous logs in order to find better coords.
  3. What does divin3's post have to do with anything in this thread?
  4. Usually the reviewers will keep a watch on caches that have been disabled for several months. They will then post a note on the cache page that the listing will be archived if the problems with the cache are not corrected within a specified period of time. If the cache remains disabled with no action taken by the reviewer, then you could post a 'needs archived' log which will alert the reviewer.
  5. There's no sure-fire way to know. The last time I met another cacher while out caching was when I noticed him trying to find the same nano stuck in a sign that I had found but couldn't reach.
  6. I fail to see how any of this makes you think the reviewer has a personal issue with you, especially since you only have 5 finds. I'm befuddled...
  7. Here's a throwdown comment I've never seen before. There are 3 caches in the middle of a series of caches on a trail that were all archived because the owner has apparently quit caching. Since this one was archived, **** checked with (local geocaching group) and verified that we would be okay per agreement with (cache owner) to drop a replacement cache. Hopefully that will get this one unarchived soon. Do what now?!?!?
  8. But the placement is a perfect reason for the cache to not have even been published to begin with.
  9. I agree with wimseyguy. As long as you are upfront about the distance then I don't see an issue.
  10. I've got a feeling that this is just the latest in a log line of threads in which the OP will never respond to any of the replies.
  11. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything even remotely like that before!
  12. I don't believe that it will support gpx files.
  13. My biggest peeve is people who don't close containers properly! It's also aggravating when people just sign wherever they want on the log and/or the just wad the log up instead of folding/rolling it back up neatly.
  14. I have found my Garmin to be much more accurate than my HTC Thunderbolt. At times the Garmin has said ground zero is 5 feet away while the phone says 50 or 60 or more.
  15. So since you have 28 cache finds you are now the "gripes about caching in the city" complaint representative?
  16. Cache was missing. I didn't have any magnetic containers so I replaced with an "unconventional" container with some duct tape. May want to check on soon as I don't know how long the tape will hold. Thanks for the smilie! <bangs head against the wall>
  17. I found that the STL Throwdown duo replaced an archived cache on 12/3. It had been disabled since 9/29. They replaced on 12/3 (the day it was archived).
  18. Why don't you enlighten us as to what YOU think the appropriate steps would have been had you been in their shoes?
  19. Stamp-connection.com has excellent customer service and products. I highly recommend them.
  20. I found four, all by the same user, that have been disabled (but not archived) for more than a year. OP is definitely confused about disabled vs archived. GC1HKD6 GC1HKD2 GC1HKDX GC1HKBT
  21. Fixed that for ya. Yes the owner could have been more responsive, but the reviewer sent/posted a message to the CO to check on their cache and less then a month later archived it. So is there a specific number of days to respond to a review? And if there was a container there and I wanted to adopt it why couldn't it be unarchived? The review told me they didn't want to unarchive it because it was had been "too long" since it was active, what is too long? I can't speak for everywhere, but I do know that here in Illinois after a reviewer disables a cache he posts that the owner needs to contact him within 2 weeks or the cache will be archived. If the owner informs the reviewer that he/she is working on the problem then I doubt the cache would be archived. As for the second part, I'm not sure what length of time they use.
  22. His parents need to stop enabling him. It sounds like they are trying to be his buddies by taking him out time and time again and letting him do something that he likes but that they know is not right. His parents could nip this habit in the bud very quickly.
  23. I thought U.N.C.L.E. was the one being stalked and that's why he quit and why you placed a tribute cache in his name. Who knows what is going on here. In that other thread U.N.C.L.E IS a group account that just had 1 member leave because the hobby results in security/privacy issues and damages the environment. Maybe it's a geocaching soap opera!
