  1. To manually enter waypoints: Use the upper right button to page thru until you find the page marked "Menu". The first one on that page should be "Mark". Click the lower left button and "Mark Waypoint" page will appear wtih a little guy holding a flag. Use either of the 2 upper left buttons to page down to the coordinates on the bottom of that page and then click the lower left button one time. That will pull up a screen where you can enter the coords you want. Using the middle left button will take you to each number in the coords. When you get to a number you need to change then click the lower left button. That will pull up a small box in the middle of the screen. Using the 2 upper left buttons move thru until the number you need is highlighted. Once your number is highlighted then click the lower left button which will move you to the next number in the coords. Continue that until you have your coords entered that you want. When you are finished changing the coords then using either of the 2 upper left buttons click down until "OK" is highlighted. Click the lower left button and that will take you back to the little guy holding the flag. The coords at the bottom of the page will be highlighted. If those coords are correct then using either of the 2 upper left buttons click until "OK" is highlighted. Click the lower left button and the new waypoint is entered. If you want to find your waypoint you just entered then click the upper right button until you return to the "Menu" page. Using either of the 2 upper left buttons page down until "Waypoints" is highlighted. Click the lower left button. That will take you to the "Waypoints" screen. You will need to remember what you called that waypoint that you entered. If you didn't name it then it will be a sequential number. The left side of that screen has the waypoints broken down into sections "0-9"; "A-D"; E-H"; etc. One of those should be highlighted in that column. Using the 2 upper left buttons click down until you reach the section where your waypoint is located. So if you named your waypoint "Home", click down until you highlight the "E-H" and then click the lower left button. That will highlight the right side of the column where "Home" should be listed. Highlight "Home" and click the lower left button. That will take you to the "Review Waypoint" page. There you can delete, go to the map, GOTO, and project. At the bottom will be the coordinates you entered. If you want to GOTO, then highlight and using the bottom left click once. That will then have that waypoint as your GOTO. I hope the above are clear enough. It's easier to do than explain. If you need more info just ask away.
  2. Think about what you just wrote. Makes no sense. There's nothing to prevent a "noobs" from being a premium member. Anyone can be a premium member before they ever start looking for caches thereby tossing your "theory" into the wind.
  3. The St Louis are throwdown twins strike again. This time even more flagrant abuse. They claim to have left a throwdown "based on the previous finders logs". Except every one of the previous logs for past 7 months were logged as Finds. Several commented in their logs about this cache being a difficult find and taking a bit of time to find it. The cache has been out there since July 2010. 19 Finds and 1 DNF which was on 05/19/11. But not the St Louis Throwdown Twins. If they can't find it then it just means they're so good that the cache has to be gone so they throwdown another one. Now at this cache location there are probably 2 caches hidden somewhere close to each other.
  4. How about helping us out and telling us what usb to serial cable you have?
  5. They're infamous around these parts. Doesn't take long to know they've been around if you have caches on your watch list. Their throwdown logs start showing up. And they're infamous in their own area too. One of their group members said their group gave them an award for finding so many caches. That's when other members of the local group complained that about 10% of their finds were throwdowns.
  6. I have seen your posts about these notorious throw-down cachers. Well hey, at least their honest, and admit to throwing down caches, and somehow think they're "helping out". Today, I find a throw-down left by the local 15,000+ find couple. They have separate accounts, and always copy and paste their logs. I did not know this was a throw-down in the field, only discovered upon logging my find. Their copy and paste find logs from July 2011 don't even mention throwing down a micro. They can't even freaking remember which caches they've thrown down a micro at. Pretty sad, if you ask me. "Honest"? That's not hardly an accurate word to describe what they do. If they were honest then they'd post a Needs Maintenance or Needs Archived. Or how about just a DNF since they didn't find the cache? Trying to help? Or just trying to pad their numbers? One of their acquaintances in that area once sent me a PM stating they had done a check of this crews' finds and a bit over 10% of their finds are throwdowns. Just because they can't find the cache doesn't mean it's missing. After they leave is there now 2 caches at the same site? Who knows. Twice I've found 2 caches at locations where they've thrown down a cache. And his crew copy and pastes their finds from their runs too.
  7. Only find 2 stages of a 4 stage multi. Can't find the 3rd stage. What to do? Claim it anyway as a find. If you're going to come back later to find the final 2 then claim the find - after you find the final.
  8. The St Louis Throwdown Twins were in the Christian Co area again on 11/12/2011 throwing down caches and claiming finds. Their typical MO when they can't find a cache:
  9. The St Louis/St Charles throwdown crew continue to throwdown more and their numbers keep climbing.
  10. Would you explain the steps you took to convert the .wav to .mp3? Was it to the macro or to POILoader? If macro where do you find the macro filed? When I use GSAK macro it asks for the folder where POI Loader is located. I identify the location but I get a popup that says it can't find POILoader. I'm not real computer saavy so use small words in English-speak. Thanks much!
  11. The good guys win. Low lifes charged. These aren't kids. They also don't have money to pay for the repairs. May the judge make their miserable lives even more miserable. http://www.sj-r.com/breaking/x1303844991/2-accused-of-vandalizing-cemetery-statue 2 accused of vandalizing cemetery statue. CARLINVILLE — Two men are jailed on charges that accuse them of destroying a statue of a World War I soldier in a southwestern Illinois cemetery. The (Alton) Telegraph reports that 20-year-old Douglas Cordray of Girard and 19-year-old Joshua Brown of Virden are charged with unlawful vandalizing of a gravestone. Macoupin County Sheriff Don Albrecht says charges are pending against a juvenile in the May 1 damage at the Sulphur Springs Cemetery, northeast of Carlinville. The statue is of Everett Burton, who was killed during a 1918 battle in France. A monument company is donating most of the repairs. A woman who identified herself as Cordray's grandmother says she doesn't know any details about the charges. Brown doesn't have a listed home telephone number.
  12. Cache owner has been MIA since Nov 28, 2010. Since that time there has been 4 posts of Need Maintenance, no response from CO. Others have posted there was a controlled burn in the area and they only found a glob of melted plastic which they didn't know if that was the cache. And then..
  13. I just saw your posting. I saw in the paper some vandals had broken up the soldier. Appropriate words to describe the miscreants would get me banned. I hope who ever knows who did this will come forward and those responsible get a double dose of what's due them. I'm only 20 miles from Sulpher Springs cache. I can't make it there on Tuesday but can on Wednesday. I'll be happy to take care of it for you.
  14. 3 of the worst locally. 1) A micro hidden in an old cemetery. On the cache page the CO states the cache isn't at the posted coordinates. The hint is it's not along the border. It's hidden at the base of one of the many trees in the cemetery about 150 ft from the posted coords. This isn't a noobee CO either. She has several hundred caches hidden around the area. 2) Different CO. It was in the fall when the CO took a sycamore leaf, taped a buffalo tube to one side and she tossed it on the ground in a wooded area near a creek. As with all wooded areas in the fall the ground is covered with fallen leaves. No hints. After several DNFs and comments from unsuccessful hunters the CO posted a snippy note saying it should have been an obvious find since it was a sycamore leaf and there are no sycamore trees in the area. 3) Same CO as #2. She hid a cache at a municipal airport next to the airport's main power control box, main radar antenna, and less than 100 yds from the main gate of the Air National Guard HQ. His CO isn't some kid. She's a retired Army Colonel.
  15. The cache owner can delete the log entry.
  16. A "find" posted on one of my caches. I sent her a note to either change her "find" to a note or delete her entry. To retrieve the cache requires some method of getting up to the container. It's clearly visible, it's just about 12 feet off the ground. Got in a bit of a snit.
  17. 127 on mostly a power trail near NOLA on 12/29/09. 2nd most finds in a day was 88 on 07/31/09. Those weren't on a power trail.
  18. Cache is obviously missing yet no one sees the need to post a needs archived or needs maintenance. They just keep logging a find the velcro. The only one who posted a needs maintenance only did so after claiming a find.
  19. How exactly were you "tried on"? Details! Pictures! Didn't you fit?
  20. I just read your words. Call him acquaintance, friend, or whatever, you're the guy who met the guy struck up the conversation and proposed bringing people into his business. Sounds like a new friend you've just met. Call it whatever you want but you're asking Geocaching.Com to send customers to your new found friend's business. Commerical cache. Which is exactly my point. You knew from the beginning when you posted your plea for help that the commerical aspect was part of the cache but you "neglected" to mention it until disagreeing with everyone just how "great" your cache is and everyone still said "no go". Then you decided to post another missive and let the commercial aspect slip out. So you still are skirting the commercial aspect. What you are proposing is to bring people into the guy's business, he gives them a free sandwich which usually results in someone buying additional items to complete a meal. Your proposal to the business owner was to promote his business. You're promoting someone's business. Not only can't you accept the guidelines of your cache being too close to another cache but you also want to ignore the commercial ban on caching. Aren't you just special? Devious? No. You just don't want to follow the guidelines and fail to accept your cache for what it really is. The rules don't apply to you, right? If you don't like the rules, the find a way to circumvent them. What an example you set for your grandkids.
  21. BBDawg didn't mention his real intent for placing the cache at that specific location until late in the discussion. His buddy who runs the sandwich place wants people to come into his business where he will give them a free sandwich. What about a free drink, chips, dessert, etc? Or does his generosity extend to free meals for everyone? If I find the cache today and get my free sandwich can I come in again tomorrow to log an additional find and get another free sandwich? And the next day can I stop by to drop off a TB and get another free sandwich? How many free sandwiches can I get stopping by to find this cache? This sounds like not only a violation for being too close to another cache but more a violation of a commercial cache. The purpose is to drum up business for a commercial interprise. Oh wow! What a "special" cache that can't be placed anywhere else.
  22. Can't be GC17Y6A which is the premium cache you refer to. Several reasons: The log dates are before CG17Y6A ever existed. It was hidden 12/14/2007. The cache I believe you found (GCMB7X) was hidden 12/26/2004. The premium cache you linked to (GC17Y6A) wasn't hidden until 12/14/2007 therefore it couldn't be the cache you located given the log dates you have on the log sheet. The logs pre-date the date the GC17Y6A was hidden. Geobabes couldn't sign the log 2 years prior to a log existing. Additionally, GC17Y6A was hidden by Goblin Girl. Cache owners rarely sign their own logs as a find and there is nothing in the log listing on that cache page indicating that Goblin Girl "found" her own cache. Another reason it's not likely that GC17Y6A is the cache you located. There is no log entry showing LostBoy found GC17Y6A. It's not unusual for log dates to be a few days later than the date signed on the log. People often don't make their log entries until days after making the find and they fail to correct the computer date when the make their entry. Or they log the wrong date when they make their computer entry.
  23. There appears to have been 5 caches hidden in the general vicinity. One hasn't been found since Aug 19 and shows several DNF (did not find). It's also listed as a micro which usually means it's something the size of a 35 mm film can or smaller. 2 others in the area are also micros. 1 is listed as being a small in a container with a screw top. That leaves GCMB7X. GCMB7X is listed as a small and was hidden about 500 ft SE of where the map indicates you found the items. From the topo map it appears GCMB7X would have been uphill from where you found the remains which would be likely to have washed down to where you found the items. This cache was last found on Nov 27. At the time the finder indicated the contents were in a zip lock bag. Sounds like and from your pictures that GCMB7X is the cache you found. Thanks for reporting your find. The cache owner appears to be rather active so I'm sure they will be glad to know someone found their cache.
  24. Have you tried using one of the macros at GSAK? It puts the file in as a POI.
