Boy am I glad I checked this forum. My etrex Vista was doing just that, after aquiring the satellites, after a minute or up to 5 minutes, it would turn off and a vertical line all the way down the screen. I've updated to the new software 3.8 and it seems to work okay now. Thanks again.
