  1. I'm not necessarily looking to upgrade, as I think my 20 is absolutely perfect!
  2. The biggest advantages to using a GPS device are: -You do not need a cellphone signal to load maps, and it will not use up any data to use -Better accuracy, and faster at getting a signal and updating -The GPS is more rugged, if you drop it into a mud puddle, just wash it off, and it will be fine (try doing that to a cellphone! ) I use both, my cellphone in the city, and my gps elsewhere. I own the eTrex 20. I love it. The only thing is that it doens't have a touch screen, but I like it better thay way. Might I recommend the Garmin Oregon series?
  3. I use mainly the Garmin eTrex 20. I absolutely love it for geocaching and hiking. Good battery life, excellent accuracy, speedy, and lots of features. Sometimes I'll use my phone, its convenient, a good backup, and quite handy in the city. It doesn't really work in the woods though, and the accuracy isn't as good as my GPS. I'd choose to use my Garmin any day. I used to use the eTrex Legend. Although not as good as the "20" the Legend was an accurate reliable GPS that I wouldn't mind using again.
  4. I am curious as to what GPS units are popular around here. What do you use? What have you used? How do you like it for geocacheing? How do you like it for other things?
  5. Alright, I'm basically getting the idea that the update just isn't worth it.
  6. I had no problems at all with version 3.0 but keep in mind that version 3.10 has just been released. I've yet to use my device since updating to the latest version. Go back on the forum to read what people had to say regarding version 3.0, to see if it's right for you. I may be just bad at using these forums (I don't use them too often), but I can't seem to find any other discussions on this topic. If you, or anyone, could give me a link, that would be great!
  7. I am currently running 2.80 on my etrex 20, it has been fine so far. Should I be upgrading to version 3.0? I use my GPS for Geocaching (obviously) and creating trails. Is the update worth it? Will it improve anything that I use it for? Thanks.
  8. Oh! Try the saranac lakes campground. It's kind of far from the border, but it has geocaches, campfires, and nearby hiking!
