  1. Recently moved from the S10 to the Pixel 8 myself. Very impressed with the photo quality. I thought that the S10's shots were great, but now they look pretty outdated compared to what I've shot with the Pixel. Makes for some great photos for logs haha.
  2. I just upgraded from a Galaxy S10 to a Pixel 8 a few months ago. The Pixel 8 has been great, locking onto GPS very well for a phone, and also gets incredibly bright for easy reading outside. The battery life is average, don't expect this to be an endurance device.I just upgraded from a Galaxy S10 to a Pixel 8 a few months ago. 3. When I set out to "go geocaching", I've become very selective about the caches I find. I look for high favorite point percentages, and almost always exclude micros. Back when I started, I would try to get all the caches in an area just because they were there. Nowadays, I have no problem leaving some green on my map if they don't seem "worth" getting. Now if I'm hiking and there's a 0 FP micro on the trail, I'll stop to quickly grab it, but I never go out of my way to find a micro.
  4. I'll add, I'm seeing this on Safari on two Macbooks (a 2019 16", and a 2021 M1 Max 16" - both running MacOS 13.1), and on Safari and Firefox on my iPad Pro M1 (running iPadOS 16.2) I get it every time I click on the Map layer selector.
  5. Perhaps someday we'll see something similar to the Virtual Rewards, but maybe even smaller and more strict? I do think there's a lot that could be done with modern webcam technology.
  6. I was just wishing that county lines would show up yesterday! Thanks for turning this around so quickly
  7. Here's what the guidelines say: That said, I've definitely seen multis where stages were considered "Virtual" if there was no container you had to find. For example an NFC tag on the back of a signpost. These might have been grandfathered in at some point?
  8. This is 100% because a lot of people think "nano" sized caches are what micro is, then film canister sizes must be small. It's been said a thousand times, but an official nano size would help stop the "size creep" that's been going on.
  9. Hey team, I'm trying to check out in the shop, but whenever I click "Next" on the shipping page, it's throwing this error. This is a new address, and my previous address still works fine. I've double checked it's corrected, and tried adding it again but I'm still seeing the same issue. I've shipped plenty of stuff here from other shops before, so I have no idea what the issue may be. Any idea what's up?
  10. I think it's pretty obvious that the best way to end the size creep is to establish a "nano" size cache. This would be for things like fake bolts, and those little magnetics capsules the size of a fingertip.
  11. <br />I think this was mentioned upthread, but the easier way to do this is right-click (or control-click) to open the "add to list" form in another tab, and then the page that you open that way is the old form where you can add the explanation before submitted the bookmark. Not as easy as it used to be because you have to open the second tab with a special click, and then you have to close two tabs when you're done, but considerably easier than going to the list and tracking down the vacuous entry you just added so you can edit it.<br /><br />This "slick" new way doesn't help me at all for exactly the reason you say: I <i>always</i> want to add a description, so the "quick add" is never useful. Originally I thought I might find the ease of adding outweighed the need for a description, but it turns out that's never the case: there's always additional information I want attached to the list entry.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Oh my god. Thank you! I use a bookmark list for my FTFs, and I always add the FTF # to the name. I wish we could edit the name in the little menu that pops up...
  12. Hi, I have notifications set up to alert me of nearby new caches (published, enabled, disabled, and archived logs). The other day it appears a received a notification from an unpublished cache. I can read the log about the reviewer disabling it because it violated a guideline. I'm assuming this is some sort of bug, as I've never received a notification like this before, and I can't imagine it was intended.

    Google Maps

On the map page, click the big green "Map Preferences" button. You should then be able to select Google Maps.
  14. My first thought when I saw the new design was "did the page not load all the way?" The new look is incredibly boring, the character of the site is gone in my opinion. It looks like one of those cookie cutter websites that you can make online with a WYSIWYG hosting website. Also, there is not SO much wasted space. Before it seemed that all the space was being clearly used, but now it seems awfully empty. Just my $0.02
  15. Awesome guys, thanks! One quick question: what would my power supply be?
  16. Ok guys, I have an idea for a gadget cache. Remember those old Simon games from the '80s? I want to make a gadget cache that opens only once you completed a specified number. The problem is...I'm not quite sure how to do this. I know Java, but that's all I have going for me. Can anybody help me out?
  17. Yeah, I hardly recognize it. I hardly recognize geocaching on it. In fact, I don't recognize geocaching on it at all. Until just now, I didn't understand what all the hubbub was about. I thought it was just the login page that was changed. ...then I tried logging out to see what it looked like... Whoa! They changed the front page! <sigh> If it wasn't clear before that smartphone users are the new primary target audience for Groundspeak, there can no longer be any doubt. Can someone at Groundspeak explain to us why the old home page (ie. the one logged-in users see) was no longer adequate? Or was this just another case of web-development-ADHD where things needed to be changed just for the sake of change? Assuming that most changes are meant to be an improvement, can you explain how this new page will improve the experience of new users and improve the game as a whole? As far as I can tell, new users will be given a completely incorrect and incomplete impression of geocaching, and the rest of us will have to deal with even more inadequately-informed new users going out and finding our caches. It feels kind of strange to think back and realize I defended quite a few of Groundspeak's decisions as recently as a couple of years ago... That page wasn't mobile friendly.
  18. Congratulations! I remember watching the Geocaching Vlogger video when this happened! (And I see him recording it in the picture too!) Anyway, I think a wedding event near this cache would be memorable! As for the date, how about...July 19th, that's a nice day.
  19. Woah! I just visited the website from my phone. On the new settings page, there is a whole mobile site! When did that happen!? For now it only seems to be on the new setting page, no where else. Is the rest of the website on it's way to looking like that? Not that I have anything against that (I've always longed for it), but do you think you could have a separate style? Not to compare you to others but... most other major websites do it this way. Also, I noticed the "Disable Your Account" button. Is that something new, or just something I haven't noticed before? And one more thing! On the membership page, it says "premium member since" and then it tells the date when I first made my account, not when I first got premium membership. Not sure if this is exactly what was intended.
  20. That's correct, you won't be able to find it. They've decided to removed this feature with the latest release.
  21. As other's have said: 1. Please oh please bring back the two separate pictures! That was so nice to have the larger one. The profile page looks empty without it now. 2. The bio box needs to be bigger. I can barely work with the HTML (that I now have to use to get a larger image) in the little area that we're given. 3. Quit making things un-desktop friendly!
  22. Sorry to tell you this SpaceMichigan but the site's Terms of Use say: Minors. Our services are not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 13. If you are under the age of 13, you are not permitted to use our services. If you are under the age of 18 but at least 13, you may only use our services under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by this Agreement. Which means you need your parents' permission and guidance. Ask your parents for help. And have them come to the forums for more help in assisting you. People read that?
  23. Yes, the 31 days of caching most likely refers to August 2013. The 366 day coin...could be either. It most likely refers to filling up the whole calendar (not consecutively), but it might be either. Hope this helps!
