If you're using the Palm for caching, and you plan on using it for anything other than city-bound, daytime caching, the Zire might not be the best choice. Of the many things they've done to cut costs on the unit, they've removed the backlight. If you're in high-contrast daytime shade or caching near dawn or dusk, you might just have trouble seeing the screen.
I'd go for the m105 if I needed something low-cost. It's got enough memory for the long run, even if you decide you want more software on it than what it comes with. For something smaller/nicer-looking/more feature-rich, try the m505, which is for sale on Half.com for $169 refurbished, eBay for possibly less.
