How good is the GPS in Samsung Smart Phones?
geopuce replied to StopTheWorld's topic in GPS technology and devices
I have a S3 and it work as good as my eXplorist GC in open area. In wood it sometime take a bit of time to zero in. -
I don't use VP so can't help with it. But the way i always updated my Magellan GPS is download the file of the update and execute it on the computer. When you have downloaded the file just run it with you GPS not connected to the PC. It will tell you when connect it. The 2.15 update if not as it contain a new basemap. Let my know if you have problem.

What software version are you using now? My rechargeable last at least 5-6 hours. -
Magellan eXplorist GC drains battery?
geopuce replied to Carson2704's topic in GPS technology and devices
I wonder what the batteries (non rechargables) BEFORE alkaline would last. 3 Seconds? Also, batteries don't last forever. Period. I used to get hours of battery time on my Explorist; then I did a service update and all of a sudden, I'm not getting even an hours use of of my batteries (not rechargables) -

geopuce replied to KiriAnne's topic in GPS technology and devices
I know there is a way from David on the other forum. I am not a computer geek so always careful playing with it. With my GC I waited for the new one. Ask David he will help you, he saved me when I deleted the map in my 310. -
Magellan eXplorist 310 update issue =(
geopuce replied to KiriAnne's topic in GPS technology and devices
The GC 2.13 issue is hapening again...will wait until many good comments from who will try the new one. The second try with the GC was good so will wait before messing my 310. -
Just move the round button down, it will move the cache list. You can also go on the map and move around again with the same button, it is a 4 directions controle. Let me know if it work.

I am a Magellan fan. My pick will be an eXplorist GC as now you can change map. For me the basemap is ok. If you want put 20 $ more you can get a 310. I have both and love them.

Recomendations for Galaxy S3
geopuce replied to paullewis382's topic in Authorized Developer applications (API)
I have tried many but always come back to the the official one, never used without data conection as I only use my phone for city caching. When planning a trip I only download PQ in one of my eXplorist, 10000 caches is a lot and always work fine. -
Mine do the same but only used that process 2 or 3 times. I normally only use my eXplorist and google map from GC website prior going. If you get a GPS ensure to select one with paperless caching, with this the only other item required will be a pen. Keep caching and have fun!!!

I have a Magellan eXplorist 310 and also a GC love both and both are less then $200 and do paperless caching. Color display and easy to used. Just my little input in you thinking.

I use a Magellan eXplorist 310 that has a good basemap with all street in my area, Ontario Canada. It don't do street navigation but work fine to navigate in town or on back roads. If ever I go for cache area I don't know I just put on in my nuvi and go. I also have an explorist GC that is dedicated to geocaching. I prefered use the extra money to do other thing then a 500 $ gps

I have an Explorist GC and a Explorist 310 and your unit is the same only software are different. There in a forum called Magellaninsider you can go there and ask how get more caches in your 110 sure one of those guys will help. I found there how increase the # of waypoints in my GC ss the new software only allow only 500.

Had the same problem and if unit is still on warranty Magellan will replace the unit.
