  1. If we take your logic several steps further then Australia was until recently a State of the USA with its involvement as an international partner in the development of the F-35 fighter, plus all the other military equipment we purchase from The States. Now however we are a province of France with the single largest military contract awarded to a French submarine firm. At one stage we were a small town in Germany with the purchase of Leopard tanks.
  2. That's all well and good, but if the page comes from server 2, how does one get the same page from server 1? While we're here, I noticed a while ago that checking "Exclude My Waymarks" in a category search has no effect and today neither does checking "My Waymarks". In each case the search returns the same number of waymarks. Interesting - this has ceased to be a Chrome only problem. Just tried the same search with Edge with the same results. This is NOT good!!! I use Chrome & just did the searches Exclude My Waymarks & My Waymarks & the results were as expected. I updated my profile yesterday & that worked as well.
  3. Another Geocaching Australia Locationless cache GA1438 - Sunrise. I took this photo from 7 Mile Beach south of Shoalhaven Heads. I was walking to a Geocaching Australia traditional cache I'd hidden on Comerong Island, a return distance of 12 kilometres. The cache is now listed with Groundspeak as Comerong GC3Q5H9.
  4. A Geocaching Australia Locationless cache GA 1278 - Wind Power. The photo is of a wind farm overlooking Lake George near Canberra on a misty day.
  5. I found this which changed my settings & eliminated that pesky offer of an upgrade: Never10.
  6. I could bet that someone would give this argument and surprise, the winner is Manville Possum I kept the result pages, Pages A quick count, Approve : 37, Deny : 10 and Abstained : 9 We can imagine Tuena is right and fresh waymarkers are not able to vote and Dragon ball is abstained. The result is : Approve : 32, Deny : 10 and Abstained : 10 But we should take in consideration that 3 people did not vote for the idea but just for the 4 waymarkers with profile at 0 One more time, where is the massive vote of "invited" and does it change the issue. But may be i do not know all subtleties of Peer review... Your missing the point. The vote was rigged. Finis.
  7. We have only problems with 4 profiles with 0 waymark and 0 visit, we succeed to contact 3 of them and they changed their vote. Nobody knows Voltarene, and the worth is a profile with 0 geocache it's a fake profile we sent to him messages but he does not reply. We developped a lot Waymarking in Loire Valley and especially in Tours area, we have the best numbers of Waymarks in France with Paris and we try to convert a lot of geocachers to waymarks, so if there i as rule to say, if you have less than x visits and less than y waymarks you are not able to vote ok we will ask them to convert their vote but i do not want to destroy all the good job we made for Waymarking. Dragon Ball is one of the most active waymarkers in our area and he wanted to convert more geocachers to Waymarking using the vote, it was an error but with good intentions. Can you give me the name of others voters with 0 waymark and 0 visit, and i will ask them "immediately" to change their vote ? Cristok, Laurette37, Yvabien. Moustic41 has one waymark. Dragon Ball should abstain as well just on principle.
  8. There are 7 with zero waymarks who voted for the proposal (3 since abstained). Another who has 1 waymark. Two others you could probably add to the list. Your proposal should be withdrawn if the remaining 5 don't abstain immediately as the voting has been stacked.
  9. Perhaps someone in authority could explain what the problem is & if a solution might be forthcoming.
  10. I agree. I use my el cheapo camera rather than my super zoom as the latter's file size would see me waiting 7 minutes for an upload. This morning an upload took 3.5 minutes so an improvement of sorts. For awhile there the site recognised that the Earth wasn't flat & but back to N & W for an extra delay.
  11. Is anybody else experiencing exceptionally slow uploading times for photographs? It takes 4' 30" to upload a file of less than 4 megs in size. I uploaded a file of the same size to the Geocaching Australia website (run by volunteers & a server to suite) & uploaded in less than a minute. Then uploaded a photo for one of my Groundspeak caches & it took over 4 minutes to complete. To rub salt into the wound at times when 100% of the upload is complete & its waiting for a response from Waymarking, it will throw the operation out the door, lose the uploaded data & present me with the Preview & Submit button, so the whole process has to start again.
  12. Well I have been enlightened again. I have never put anything more than the name of the town in the search field "Near" I put the town, distance, select Australia & the state & search. Why would I even think of adding the state to the Near field when there are such options built in? Silly me. Pays making observations in the forum. Thanks for that one.
  13. Until I read this had never used decimal degrees or any degrees in searches. It has solved a small problem for me. If I search for certain towns in Australia I get results for towns elsewhere in the world. As an example if I search for Forbes, Australia, NSW I get Forbes, USA, Minnesota so I had been searching from nearby towns. I selected a cache in Forbes (TP6529), converted the co-ords to decimal degrees using the provided tool, searched & got waymarks in & around Forbes NSW. Thank you.
  14. Since there is a running commentary in Peer Review directed at those who consider the proposal doesn't meet the Global criterion I think it best that I address them as they appear. yosam …….... Interesting the Europeans disapprove because it is not "Global" yet demand small pockets of their county only categories be approved. Up until this point there had been three denials, two of which were from waymarkers who live in New Zealand & Australia, both of which are located in the Southern Hemisphere. dreamhummie For those who said its not global: How many categories do you have already found in your own country that are global ???? I have found 291 categories & four could be seen as Australian only purely because they are headed ‘Australian or Australia’. Other countries have Trigs, Historical Markers, Benchmarks & Post Offices so really all my finds are global.
  15. So according to you I don't have the right to an opinion & should just blindly accept whatever comes along. My opinion is that your proposal is not outstanding, is not global & doesn't meet the prevalence criterion.
  16. I look at the here & now. You seem to believe that all categories have the potential to be global as their subject could become available in other countries. What's the chance of the FOE setting up a chapter in Australia or anywhere else outside North America when they haven't already done so. Then of course we have another criterion which if FOE set up an order in Australia wouldn't be met. A chapter in Sydney & one in Melbourne as the two largest cities perhaps. It doesn't matter that the USA & Canada were mentioned. I always look to see whether the proposal is Global. Available in 2 countries is not Global. That's how I interpret Global. Silverquill's point 3 infers the opposite as far as I can understand. A category can be global even if it its restricted to one country. Doesn't make sense.
  17. I generally vote based on my interpretation of the Global criterion which differs to that of Silverquill's. Some categories that aren't global have received my support based on practicalities. Well written & no doubt of interest to those in North America. If approved we could end up with dozens of similar categories as opposed to just one. I wont be rushing to set up a category for the one I found in Australia or for others that have chapters here as many are simply based in members' homes.
  18. Sounds a little too wide of a category to me when you add all frat organizations worldwide. A fly by night 2 chapter fraternal organization would qualify for instance. And as little as I like fast food categories it would be like having just one category for the entire lot of all of them. Like wise with post offices, just one category world wide. But we have a track record of not doing either. Post offices go by country, fast food by chain. We occasionally make a catch all category but they don't have good track records in my humble opinion. Fraternal is not a commonly used word in Australia so I didn't realize, until I just checked, there were so many such organisations world wide.
  19. Why not extend the category to all fraternal organisation world-wide. I searched for "fraternal organisations anywhere in Australia" & found the United Grand Chapter of Australia, Order of the Eastern Star, an organisation with similar aims to that of the Order of Eagles. There are chapters in each state. Website: http://oesaustralia.org.au/
  20. I'm not having any problems & have been in & out of the site during the day as am surrounded by flood waters. I use Chrome on a laptop.
  21. I haven't had any problems since bootron's last post. Very fast uploads, all is sweet, use Chrome. I registered for the free upgrade to Windows 10 but will probably stick with Win 7.
  22. Spelling errors: Mad Mex (like the movie Mad Max) Zambrero Great write up. Thanks
  23. Tried to logon, got this: The communication object, System.ServiceModel.ChannelFactory`1[Tucson.Common.AccountService.IAccountService], cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. Been here before? Login:
  24. To add a global flavour to the proposal I checked the Mexican situation in OZ. I identified three National chains: Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill Salsa's Fresh Mex Grill Zambrero The first two have 28 outlets combined between them, Zambrero is more widespread.
  25. Depends on your definition of 'working'. Uploads of photos take forever - I can chop the wood, set the fire & still be waiting. Just a second ago clicked on an icon on my category grid, waited, waited then message that the website was unavailable. The ISP probably only gives X amount of time for a site to load. Groundspeak need to speak & let us know what they're doing, on a regular basis in this forum, not hidden in the caching chatter.
