  1. Now that I know it's accessible, 24/7, I know where it's at and what to look for..lol. Moderator, feel free to delete this topic please Ron M.
  2. Well, it was a holiday. I thought I knew where it was and it's very near the fence. But when I was at the fence, the coordinates showed it still 80 feet away. I'll email the owner, thankx. Ron
  3. if this is off topic for here, please move it. is there anyone who has done this cache: Forthebirds I went to do it the other day, and it appears you have to go accross a locked gate(around actually) to get to it. I didn't want to chance it. Do you have to go during times the gate is open, or is it not on the other side of the gate...thx Ron
  4. Thanks.. sorry so long to reply.. My puter crashed the day after christmas when my wife installed the Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 game I got her for christmas. I just had time to get it back up. I'll be doing some more hunting the next couple weekends.. The holiday season is so busy for us I hardly have time to change my mind. Ron
  5. Hope this isn't OT here. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm official now..lol.. My wife and I found I-95/I-26 TB Depot. was planning to hunt another in the area, but it was getting dark too quick, and I didn't have a flashlight with me. Gonna fix that this week when I start puttin my cache bag together. Ron
  6. I'm new around the holiday season. I really hope I can keep up with it.. I'm bad about taking up hobbies then dropping them.. But I like gadgets so much, I think I'll be around a while. Going probably some time tomorrow to find my first 2 caches... (or at least try) Ron
  7. Anybody got a windshield braacket for a Etrex Legend that they would be willing to part with cheap? They are like 35 bucks from garmin. Thanks Ron
  8. Got an Etrex Legend.. My first GPSr. Going caching this afternoon..lol Ron
  9. it's still legal as of now... I sent an email to both Rep George Bailey and Senator Glenn McConnel. I know both of them personally (not really close, but we've met informally many times) explaining a little about geocaching and inviting them to go on 2 caches with me. If I don't get a reply by about mid January, I'm gonna try to catch them by phone somehow. Ron
  10. You mean I'm not the only FF and propane guy here? what are you.. driver, service guy?? both? Ron
  11. Don't do that to me.... I'm thinking I've been a volunteer FF for 15+ years... worked for a propane company for 2 years. And Ive never heard that. Couldn't figure out what they hey you were talking about. Glad that medicine helps. Ron
  12. I used to know what that stood for... I mean besides the Boiling Liquid expanding vapor explosion one.. I took a propane firefighting class and the instructor had the funniest one and I can't remember it. Ron
  13. Can someone tell me the bill number or how to id the bill in SC about caching. Occasionally I can catch the ear of Rep. Bailey from Dorchester County. Maybe I could talk him into going on a cache with me... would be cool. Ron
  14. Sounds like fun.. I'll be there. Hopefully.. Ron
  15. This cache is just right up my alley. I've seen people torch/cut tanks in half for grills and such. However when a company disposes of a tank, I think it has to be filled with water and left open for several months according to law. If you remove the valves and guages et al, and fill it with water for several weeks, I'd say it may be safe to cut. Stress MAY. The Ethyl Mercarptan or ever how you spell it would hang around for quite a while. You might could build a container inside of it to hold the swag so it don't start stinking. Lastly I would suggest leaving the valves and stuff out of it to keep some poor unsuspecting bulk truck driver like myself from trying to fill it. Ron
  16. Awesome... I saw her on one of those parades on thanksgiving performing and on MTV Made. That's way cool. Geocaching really is a hobby for EVERYONE I guess. Ron
  17. If this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it...but here goes. With the mention of the Geocaching Jeapordy star, I got to wondering. Is there anyone here, (and you don't have to say who you are, just acknowledge) That is a High Profile figure? Singer, actor, actress, politician, etc. Somebody that the majority of us would know if we heard your name. No a legend in your own mind doesn't count. I'm counting on peoples honesty. Ron Just a lowly gas truck driver from SC.
  18. Call me stuck in the 90's or is it 80's.. but I still like my maglight.. or mini maglight. Ron
  19. I haven't actually started caching yet. I've been caching yet... but I'm gonna add my 2 cents worth anyway.. I will probably do most of the caches in my area. I'm not planniing on tackling any of the multicaches yet. And I'm not really that much into math puzzles, so I've seen a couple that I won't rush out to do. Although there does seem to be one in Folly Beach that's a multi that might be fun. And I'm a bit on the large size, so I'm not likely to do any that require lots of climbing, tight spaces, or more than say a mile hike. That would be my reason for doing mostly the easier ones. Not to mention the fact that there's not really that many in my area. And I can't afford (vacation time or money) to take too many caching trips. I'll have to plan one trip a year to do a little caching. Ron
  20. awesome.. I'm just of 177. We'll have to get together when I get ready to start lookin. Ron
  21. I would certainly be interested in joining a group. But thanks to my work schedule and money situations, I have a hard time going farther away than Orangeburg or Summerville. Ron
  22. I guess I didn't mean necissarily finding it without the GPS so much as a combination of that and the fact that I know the area so well. Kind of takes the fun out of it I think, but we'll see. Thanks Ron
  23. OK, I'll go sign the log this weekend, then post the find.. That's assuming I can actually find it.. Thanks Ron
  24. I know where 2 chaches are near my home. One that I think I spotted today. Didn't have time to get out and check it out. What I'm wondering is, if I physically go to them, sign the log, maybe trade some swag.. whatever, would it be poor taste/cheating to log that as a find, even though I don't even own a Gps yet? Thanks Ron
