  1. I agree 100%. They have been top notch. I've emailed them, called and am on their beta team and have always got extremely fast service every time. It's the old you tell 11 to 13 people about a bad experience. Then they tell more. I am sure people have had bad experiences, but not nearly as much as people make it out to be. Of course, I am sure this will get replied to with all of those bad experiences, but just remember- people rarely talk about good ones.
  2. I think he is referring to the 500LE. This is a new version that uses 3 AAA batteries. They quit making the 500, probably because I bought one. Jerks!
  3. North Florida, you say? Training? Well, you missed this by one day. This was the event on Saturday. I wasn't able to make it, but I heard it was a blast: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...01-8d52f92745ff
  4. They are regional, too. Here in Florida, a FL style hide is under palm fronds. A GA hide is under pine needles. In your case, as said before, the M&M is the little tubes from the mini candies. Here' a list of others: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...16&hl=style
  5. I just got a ipaq rx5915 with an integrated GPSr. It uses Tom Tom for routing and it's great. Little drop off, no drift, easy to use. I want to use beelinegps to do a little caching. It installed great, but it only works for 5 seconds. Literally, the little green circle flashes 5 times and then stops tracking. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
  6. Here's a simple test to check it. Let the GPSr boot up- give it a few minutes to lock on. With yours, mark a spot. Push the mark button one time. Put something there, like a rock or a book to mark the spot. Name this mark test or something. Then, get a away from the spot. I suggest 50 yards or so. Then, push go to button and find the spot you marked. Watch your GPSr and not the spot. That's easier said than done. If your receiver is working properly, you should be able to get 30 feet close to it. It will probably be even closer, like dead on. Keep in mind that if someone marks a cache with a different brand, you'll still be close, 30 feet, but not as dead on as with yours. This was a very difficult lesson for me to understand. I thought a GPSr would always put you in the same spot. There is a different brand than mine that is always 30 feet west off of the mark. Keep this in mind when caching. This little test should help you see how/why/when/where it works.
  7. Dan was able to help me- I didn't consider that even online stores take a holiday. I really should have considered that before my rant. I will stick with geobuddy and it has been great to me. I'll probably grab GSAK as well, but it’s got some big shoes to fill.
  8. I've been a big fan of TopoGrafix products for quite some time. I had (at one time) a copy of ExpertGPS and I loved it. I had severe pc issues so I had to format and I lost the key. Oh, well, I'll just get a new one. I never received any response, period. I just sucked it up and moved on. Then, I upgraded to Vista and the Magellan software wouldn't work. I needed something to move tons of caches to my machine so I found geobuddy. Wow, what a great program! I loved it. A few weeks ago, I got a HP iPAQ and it and Vista didn't get along. So, I formatted and I lost my geobuddy key. This certainly is something that happens to machines all the time. People lose data. So, I figured I'd just email the contact and get a new one. Dan was pretty instant to a response, which was to ask for my GC username. Since then, with repeated emails, he has not contacted me back. I honestly feel like, with addition of ExpertGPS, I have lost close to $100. I'll be darned if I'm going to give him another dime. Hopefully, this post will help him to help me, but in the meantime, anyone know of any good programs to move .gpx files from my pc to my GPSr? Thanks!
