  1. Way to go Doug & Doobies!! Congrats to both of you. Hope to see you both next weekend! See you at the trailmix! Actually i think it's farther for us than it is you. The took metal box log also struck me as funny.
  2. I just did the bobs yesterday, and was wondering if theres anything else similar in the midwest area?
  3. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that. Did not realize i was close enough to get 1500.
  4. Geocached in Indiana yesterday, around kokomo. Ran into lead dog and chek at one of the caches and then found several more with them before they had to return home. Great caching with them. 4 cachers sure did make the caches get found quickly!
  5. I haven't done any caching under lots of snow yet, but i would imagine one of the cheap hiking sticks from walmart with the guard busted off would make a great snow probe for caches.
  6. It was, there was a good turnout considering the cold 30mph wind. I managed to find all but one of the park's caches and am sore for it (literally). It was a great event.
  7. I'll be tackling the caches in Fort Harrison State park this weekend, as well as attending the event there. Lots of hiking to be done there, including a 1.5 mile round trip trek for a single cache. As for this week, mostly uneventful local caching for me. Did go to Kokomo and purchase 40 ammo cans earlier this week.
  8. Visited Brian's today and bought 40 slightly rusty cans. They are new or good as new cans, they've just been left outside too long. ZERO rust on the inside and seals are in perfect shape. Much better than going to indy and paying $5 for "shiny" ones. I'll be back to Brian's if I run out! I'll be selling them for $3 each.. I'll have some at Fort Harrison on Saturday and at other future events. I also plan on using quite a few of them at a local county park that has an uncached 6.45 mile loop trail.

    Poor, poor deermark. Great picture!
  10. As long as it's not too difficult, I don't mind a micro in the woods. I'm more in it for the find than the swag. I understand that it can be royal pain in the butt to lug an ammo can clear into the deep woods. As long as it's hidden in a way that: Critters don't steal it Weather doesnt destroy it It's easy to find It's cool with me. A factory blue bison hanging on a tree branch is a good example. Not hard. Not critter bait. Anything less than a tornado won't hurt it. Like everyone else, what I hate is destroying the woods looking for an impossible micro in the woods. I do think 35mms, M&M Containers, Peanut Butter Jars, Spice Jars and anything else not "really" waterproof should not be in the woods. I don't place those kind of containers at all, since I know i'm saving money on gas by spending money on quality containers now. Unless the hider hikes the trail weekly, they aren't going to be around enough to dry them out. Take the time and money to buy a matchsafe, lock n' lock or ammo can . You'll thank yourself after you don't have to go back weekly to replace wet logs.
  11. I'm going -- who else from indiana is headed for windy rock?
  12. I would say not, i put at least 40 miles on my car just driving around the place. The caches are pretty scattered. Some are missing. I'd call it a feat just to find them all in one day with a car.
  13. I have a collection of those on my computer.' Where is lead dog? Did he get trapped in a ghost town?
  14. I will have to stop at that place if i'm in the area. I might buy quite a few and sell them to local cachers. There isn't any place with reasonable prices in this area. Rust is good camo anyway!
  15. I'm interested to see how fast someone gets 10 of them. I figured it up, and decided i'd rather whittle away at them while getting the other caches in the area. Power caching them is possible, but not cost effective. Costs more in gas than the prize is worth. I'm also interested about the hides, i was expecting more hikes! I guess i will find out tommarow at Summit Lake and Mounds.
  16. Great idea. Summit lake and mounds will be easy, the rest will be a little bit of a drive but worth it.
  17. I'm not going to admit how many of those i'm guilty of. #9 for sure. I can't stop at a gas station without getting a 44oz.
  18. Perhaps not in the midwest, but be on the lookout anyway The Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife is advising hikers, hunters, fishermen, golfers and tourists in general to take extra precautions and keep alert for alligators while in outdoors. They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their shoes or clothing to alert but not startle the alligators unexpectedly. They also advise the carrying of pepper spray in case of an encounter with an alligator. It is also a good idea to watch for fresh signs of alligator activity. People should learn to recognize the difference between small young alligator and large adult alligator droppings. Young alligator droppings are smaller and contain fish bones and possibly bird feathers. Adult alligator droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper spray.
  19. Used to have magnetic keyholders 2 for $1 at walmart, but they've stopped carrying them in the local one. They were pretty good ones, actually. Might try automotive/hardware stores. I might get a few more ammo cans at the fall picnic if the price is right. Still got 13 of them, but no hurt in stacking them up cheaply!
  20. You are all free to discuss it at indianageocaching.com. End shameless plug. I always also thought of this thread as a place to ask indiana cachers what THEY think, instead of inviting the entire country and lots more flamers.
  21. Really? Oh well, i can't order from most places since i don't have a credit card.
  22. On a lighter note, i ordered a new Garmin 60CSX today and it should be here next week. $345 after rebates at amazon right now. I'll be testing it well at the fall picnic, i'm sure.
  23. Actually, if he was making $10 each on those, he'd probaly approve every single one!
  24. It seems to me, Tennyson Jelinek has convinced ACRES to let him review caches on thier properties for $10 each. This is like a Groundspeak reviewer charging you to look over your cache!
