  1. One word describes the politicians that come up with this crap "IDIOTS"
  2. Well yes I do use a flashlight but also use my GPS to get into my stand location from any direction depending on the wind.
  3. In my area does(female deer) are abundant and I do my share at fillingmy freezer with venison.Oh I almost forgot,a slickhead is nick name for a doe...hence slickheadhunter.
  4. I primarily use mine for deer hunting purposes,I used to use a compass solely but my Uncle planted the GPS seed and I cant even begin to list the uses I have for this unit.I often go cross country in areas that I hunt looking for natural funnels or pinch points, if you will, that might afford me with a good treestand location for bowhunting. The problem is that most of the great areas are far from any trail or road, and getting to and from in the dark proves difficult at best.Theres a state park here in NH that is for bowhunting only and is about 3500 acres,I have that area mapped out very well and about 12 treestand locations setup and the GPS makes it a snap to get to and from them in the dark. The longest one is about 1/2 mile, and the real problem starts when I shoot one at dusk, makes for a long hard drag out to the trail in the dark, then another 1/2 mile to the truck. But the taste of Venison makes It all worth while.
  5. Very strange....I have way more detail on my mapsource topo 2008 with the new CSx than I do with the older mapsource topo on my map60. I believe the detail has more to do with the map software than It does with the unit itself. But then again perhaps Im wrong.
  6. I just bought the CSx and use the upper north east 2008 topo chip and see all mountains labeled. So im curious as to why you dont.
  7. I just bought the Map60CSx and today was the first day in the woods.I bowhunt in a state park by the name of Bear Brook,Mapsource 2008 does a pretty good job at marking the larger trails, but within this state park there are three trails in the bow hunting only preserve that are not on the topo. What I did was start at the begining of each trail and I turned on the "Tracks" and walked from one end to the other on each trail and at the end of each, I turned the tracks off and saved the track and also turned on the feature that allows you to see the trail on the topo permenantly(you can also make the trail just about any color you want). It only took me an afternoon to get this done, now I know which spot on the trail is the closest to the 10 or 12 tree stand locations I have set up.This new unit Is awesome.
  8. The one I have Is the Map60(dark green case) with black and white screen.I can only download three states(Vermont,New Hampshire and Maine) at one time because it only has 24mb of internal memory. My new Map60CSx seems to be light years ahead of the plain Map60,the ability to lock onto 10 to 12 sats in my house is awesome. It also seems to compensate alot quicker as you navigate. The map60 required me to walk steady before the little pointer would re-allign itself and show a course change. The Map60CSx seems to be instant.I compared the the CSx's compass with my trusty Brunton and is dead on.I am going deer scouting in the morning during the snow storm and have a few stand locations in mind, to set waypoints, cant wait!
  9. I have the Map60 and the CSX. The 60 has 24mb internal memory and works very well but I would consider one of the X models for the high sensitivity receiver. There Is no comparison between the two as far as satelite reception.
  10. Hello all,Im new.....in fact i have not even done one single cache yet, but we all need to start at point A. I got introduced to geocaching from my Uncle last year while he was up hunting at my northern NH camp during the muzzleloader season.I believe this will be lots of fun!
