  1. Just saw this on the Garmin Blog: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2011/05/the-new-etrex-garmins-best-selling-gps-handheld-just-got-better.html New Garmin eTrex 10, 20 & 30. EDIT: Shame I can't edit the subject to include the model numbers.
  2. Just saw this on the Garmin Blog: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2011/05/the-ultimate-in-touchscreen-toughness-garmin-montana-gives-new-meaning-to-rugged-and-versatile.html
  3. I know its an open-ended question but how long do Garmin "Normally" take from Beta to stable releases?
  4. I can't believe Im so lost. the files are opening as gsak files and I tried to copy and paste them to the L/garmin folder, It shows them there but no caches on unit show up. They go in the Garmin/GPX folder.
  5. That's what I do. Download my Pocket Queries and put them into GSAK and then upload them to my 62s.
  6. Garmin say 2000 in their documentation. Many people have reported here that they get 5000 in last few Garmin models. I've got ~2400 in my 62S. Having come from a 60CSx previously and just got a 62S, paperless caching is awesome! EDIT: I see you're a neighbour too The 2400 caches is all within 1000km of Perth.
  7. Any chance you haven't set the time zone? It defaults to auto but I prefer to manually specify it.
  8. Thanks heaps. That's a great idea. A lot simpler than my method.
  9. Thanks for the advice guys. There's only 2590 caches in my state so easily within the range of the 62S. Any advice for working out where to base the radial PQ's from. Is it just best to grab a map and pen and compass and start drawing circles depending on the density of the caches?
  10. Pocket Queries are limited to 1000 caches right? 1000 caches takes me about 40-50km from home. Now its realistic for me to travel further and the 62 can hold 5000 caches so how do people handle this? Do you just do multiple overlapping PQ's? Do I then need to merge the PQ's in GSAK or does the 62 not care that the same cache may be in more than 1 GPX file (where they overlap)?
  11. Now announced on their blog: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2010/06/...t=Google+Reader
  12. Any chance of a photo side by side of the 60CSx and 450 in direct sunlight (pref with and without the backlight if its not too hard). I used to own a 60CSx so seeing the 450 compared against that would give me a good comparison. Many thanks if you are able to do this for us.

  14. Thanks for the picture. Was that with the backlight on or off? How much difference does the backlight make with the Dakota?
  15. Any chance of a photo that shows outdoors screen readability compared with your other units please?
  16. I'm hoping the lower resolution will aid sunlight visibility. If it does, they are onto a winner.
  17. Given the issues with the CO, have any of the new OR owners been game to test the OR in water? I've seen the comments about the seals looking better but was wondering if anyone has put their OR in water to test it.
  18. Cheers. Here's hoping Garmin don't pull the page before everyone can see it. That's a nice looking unit. I really hope they solve the hardware issues (like being waterproof) with this unit.
  19. Darn. There goes my hopes. I was secretly hoping that the Garmin HR sensor was Polar compatible. What a shame.
  20. I have (had actually, I just eBayed it) a 60CSx and always thought the screen was awesome. I very rarely needed the backlight in natural light. I've seen all the reports about the newer Vista HCx's and how much better their screens are. I just assumed (obviously wrongly), that the CO would get a screen just as good (albeit higher resolution) as the Vista HCx. This is a major disappointment. There's no point having more resolution if the screen requires battery-chewing backlighting. I think I'll hold off on purchasing a CO now as this doesn't sound like a firmware fixable issue.
  21. The unit will come with a US base-map. Other than that, they are the same. Just purchase local maps and off you go.
  22. I see Garmin have 2 models of the Colorado 300. One for the Americas and one for Europe. Given the specs say that they have a worldwide base-map, why do they have 2 models and does anyone know what the difference is?
  23. He's already done a test with a 2,000+ geocache file. It worked. Also, on the Colorado Geocaches are not waypoints. Waypoints are still limited to 1,000.
  24. That's no problem. The 2.7 MB file was less than 600 KB when zipped. Could someone do this please? I'd love to confirm that it can take 1000's of GC's.
