  1. The vote on this waymark's status has not completed yet. Australian Historical Markers 3/17/2012 1:39:31 PM Am still waiting and have been so since it was initally presented this particular comment has been since about 3 day after the posting of the waymark so frustration in Waymarking has increased to me not wanting to mark other items of interest.
  2. well so you a least have a category that accepts them how about a category that is the same but will not accept them because they are slightly different because they belong to another country and the prevalence issue will not allow a new category? I refer to TARGET as this is american only you are probably OK but the same store name exists in Australia and is not recognised by the TARGET group!
  3. Australia has its annual tidy towns competition and there are multiple categories every year depending on the size of the town. I would volunteer for this as a category and would be in favour of rules that would allow other achievements to be listed even if a plaque is not in the town a referance to the competition or method of how the best kept or best this could all work if the information is available.
  4. The water tube IMHO would make it a form of a fountain and as such it could be listed in the fountain category. However Gargoyle's and the like also adorn buildings as spiritual or cultural additions to a building and therefore do not have water spurting from them. This is only one opinion
  5. Yes I to have had to resort to the old way of doing business as this new form appears not to like the old south and east area just like the old form didn't in the beginning. OK for traditionls but the mystery needs code available and the easier way to enter it would have been in the new form. Also why when we edit dose the edit revert to the old form.
  6. these look cool and interesting however prevalence may be a concern I have personally never seen a handle close to any of your examples
  7. I have a wamymark that I also used as the start of a multi and the required information was removed from the WM picture however the reviewer was not happy with this and I insisted that it was to ensure that the people actually went to the area to obtain the information. So there seems to be various schools of thought on this subject. One is it is Waymarking and has nothing to do with geocaching the other is it is information so you should be able to choose what is displayed in your waymark and this is another point that is in a different discussion topic which relates to editing waymarks. Just my 2 cents worth I will go away again now
  8. Im wiht you max and 99 but will it be accepted lets see what will happen also their will be some cross posting but my way of thinking it is not that bad and ieda
  9. well those type of statements are at least a bit better than the geocaching one of "TFTC" you would think people would like to be more informative than that but alas there are so many lazy people and the use of smart-phones for geocaching and now Waymarking makes for the less informative and annoying comments. I personally like to at least give an account of the location/cache in my log comment and sometimes end up writing an essay about an interesting happening or about a related thing that happened on the way. As for previous visits it is better to accept them and allow these less interesting comments so long as they add a little after that original statment.
  10. you can load the garmin gpsmap 62s directly from GSAK goto GPS - Send waypoints. do this directly from the directory you have created for the waymarks if you also want to geocache in the same area make sure you file contains the information for your caches other wise you may end up with only the last loaded file in your gps. Another point to remember is the gps will only hold 5000 waypoints but you should already know that.
  11. Here is just another thought. would it be viable for groundspeek to create just the ability to log into waymark and create a waymark only account that way people could do only Waymarking if that so suited them and not have to worry about geocaching this is an option that would appeal to the photographers and not affect the Tupperware hunters amongst us and they the could visit and comment on waymarks.
  12. How about giving them a challenge to do a scavenge hunt the contains some wild cards. So as they complete the scavenger hunt they will have to post some waymarks to finish the scavenger hunt thus you achieve your goal of getting some people to find waymarks that exist and post a couple of new waymarks. Just a thought
  13. Why shouldn't a road completion or commemoration to roads be a category on its own as it is in fact a valid piece of history and are found throughout the world all sorts of roads have plaques that would not fit in other categories however they would fit together in a general road history category. Then again if you live in the US they have individual road categories!! something that is not allowed by other countries but alas was would the forums be without those US waymarkers. JMO
  14. what is the go with being able to use an uncategorised waymark and edit it into a category do you then own the waymark or is it still the original posters waymark. just asking about it as have seen other place waymarks into categories and there is still and uncategorised waymark for the said location as well. would this be the best way to achieve a waymark into multi categories without having to load the photos multiple times?
  15. can't say that I nave seen any example of this type of sign in Australia but will be on the lookout for them they look quite neat and would love to assist with the group. these are defiantly very photographic signs.
  16. this is a great little map however when entering new waymarks I change the N to S and The W to E on the coordinates (as I am in Australia) and then proceed to enter the information next when I begin to add photo's the coordinates reflect N and W which is real annoying can this be fixed.
  17. The idea is not to add topics it is that the current topics have a requirement of the artist or a precise location of the object however this is not possible as the artist is unknown and the case of museums and other art locations is part of the display also contains information about the artist. In the case of farm art the name of the artist is unknown and the art is about giving passerbys the pleasure of viewing there work and possible a giggle. In the case of putting mulitple waymarks at one location I don't think it is appropriate in this type of art/diorama form. It is about the overall visual.
  18. have posted an uncategorised example WMDTK9 Farm Art example- BBQ by the dam, Lockhart, NSW, Australia. Please have a look and comment on what you think
  19. To clarify the point is the art is placed on private property and the main purpose is the viewing pleasure of passer-bys the artist takes no recognition for the work nor any credit for it. They do it just for the fun and to display there talents.
  20. the purpose behind this category is to promote the efforts of private individuals who provide a display at there expense for no other purpose than to provide a display to the public. These displays should be perminnate in nature and viewable from public accessible land. They could be a sculpture or a diorama set-up to depict a typical event. eg fishing by the dam, out camping by the billabong.
