  1. I launched a new travel bug and someone picked it up and moved it before I could enter it into the system. As I completed the activation, I failed to "drop" it in the cache I placed it in. So, it now shows as it's point of origin the second cache it was hidden in. How can I revise the logs to show the original drop so it can log proper mileage? Reference TB11B19 (Tracking Number 8RJB0R). Want to log it as a drop in GC108VP on 4/22/10.
  2. That service has been discontinued. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry3910085 In lieu of the KML, run a PQ of the area you are looking at and open that GPX file in GE. And it will be more accurate, too. D! Thanks me bucko!!
  3. I've been gone a long time, and finally am getting back to the cachin' world. I used to use Google Earth to look for caches in a specific area, but I see that link no longer exists. Is there a different way to download the KML (?) file to view caches in Google Earth?
  4. I was able to pick up a Palm Zire 72S from craigslist. It has been a good palm for caching. Sam, The big thing to check for is how well you can read the display in sunlight. Darned near any of the Palm or Pocket PC models will host Cachemate software but you'll spend some time lookiing for shade so's you can read the displayed data. With practice you'll discover that holding the PDA at a just-so angle to the sun allows you to get the job done. Another issue is that you will need to acquire an installation of GSAK software for your PC. Twenty bucks for GSAK and eight bucks for Cachemate is the whole deal for specialized software. An online purchase of a PDA can run anywhere between thirty and several-hundred dollars depending on the non-Geocaching features you want. Finally you must become familiar with Geocaching Pocket Queries, perhaps you have already mastered that feature. O yeah, I forgot, ... arrr, avast, shiver me timbers, whatever. Harmon Aye laddie! Gramercy to you an' tha others fer yer input. So far I be leanin' towards tha Palm Tungsten T3. I liked Team Duckit's layout and really liked the big color screen, but I didn't check it out in sunlight to see how easy it was to read. Does anyone use the Garmin iQue??
  5. After visitin' wit' Team Duckit this weekend I be sold on tha idea o' paperless caching. I liked tha unit he had (Palm Tungsten T3), but figger'd I'd ask all ye scallywags ifn' ye have any other PDA's ta suggest? Due to me pyratical vision, I be likin' tha color screen 'cuz it be eazy on me good eye! Gramercy fer yer help lads an' lassies. Arrrrr.
  6. If anyone be hikin' up Iron Mountain soon, I need a lil' help. I jes got a note sayin' that me micro container at Belly Trimmer V - Iron Mtn. has fallen out of the "holder" it was in and is laying on the ground. I won't be able to get back up there for a couple weeks due to my schedule. Any help would be appreciated! If ye haven't found the hide yet and aren't familiar with it, email me for particulars. Arrrrr.

  9. I have a handful of those pins left. You can either get one that I placed in this cache a few days ago; Stone Sentinel (GCHK6K), or take the more difficult approach of contacting me with your address and I'll mail you a few! Regarding WiFi Spots, a GPX file would be sweet! However, before you make that information public you might also want to score some credit for your research by placing them in the Waymarking.com Category - "WiFi HotSpots". Cheers, PassingWind Aye, pardon tha newbie question but what be tha San Diego Geocachers? Be this a formal gatherin' o' ye treasure hunters?
  10. Make that 13 caches mate! Neptune's Daughter an' I just planted two more on the mountain today ("Belly Trimmer V - Iron Mtn." and "If It Were A Snake...."). BLAST it were hot on that mountain today!! Thought we were gonna die! 4:30 start should be cooler, but ye may need headlamps ifn' yer doin' tha whole thing AND stoppin' fer caches. Tha views are splendid indeed! Arrrrr.
  11. Aye, tis it jest me, or do any o' ye scallywags find yerselves: 1. Selectin' breath mints not by brand, but by tha type o' container they be in? 2. When walkin' about an' ye see somethin' like say a discarded Skoal can an' yer first though be CACHE? 3. Bein' attracted ta places like The Container Store, Home Depot an' Michaels jest ta get some ideas? 4. Park by a lightpole in a parkin' lot an' wonder if'n thar be somethin' hidden thar? 5. Wonderin' if Cegrube ever sleeps? 6. Fear'n a sea monster will yank ye from yer bunk an' pull ye through tha porthole an' drag ye down to tha bottom o' tha ocean where ye meet Davey Jones an' a big ol octopus wraps his tentacles around ye an' chokes ye until yer eyes pop out? (OK, that on may be jest me) 7. Feelin' like a day witout cachin' were a wasted day? Jes' thinkin' out loud mates. Gotta go out an plunder some more rum. Arrrrr!
  12. Avast all ye landlubbers and scallywags o' tha MTRP wars. "bout two months ago, I were searchin' fer Electrific View at Cowles when I noticed a small trail leadin' up from tha cache. Soz I decided ta follow it ta see where it be leadin'. Tha trail led to tha fire road, where I were met by a Park Ranger who were none too amused by me trailblazin'. Tha Bilge Rat wrote me up a citation, tha official charge bein' "Destruction of Habitat - Off Trail". This were a misdemeanor charge which required a mandatory appearance before tha judge downtown. This mornin' were me day o' reckonin'. Bein' it were me first offense, they took it down from misdemeanor to infraction, and fined me a total of $174.00. Now this ol' pirate ain't complainin' 'cause, well hell, I were guilty!! I'm postin' this info fer ye all ta consider when ye be a scurryin' about searchin' fer plunder in tha' MTRP zone! Tha park rules permit a cache to be located no more than 30 feet off trail, but ye best not be tramplin' any vegetation in tha process! Anything further than 30' an ye could be facin' tha same fate as me! Happy huntin' lads and lasses!! Jes be careful, eh? Arrrrr.
  13. And this has to do with caching how? Aye, it has absolutely nothin' ta do wit cachin' ya bilge rat! I meant ta post this in tha San Diego thread where folks are friendlier, but have nay mastered tha forum as of yet. Thar be two caches at this site, an' I were preppin me fellow cachers in SAN DIEGO 'cause I be workin' on plantin' a new cache thar to commemorate tha occassion....but mostly, I thought it would be nice ta meet some o' me cachin' mates at a fun event. Didn't mean ta get yer panties in a bunch mate! My goodness "ya bilge rat! " It was just a question If I would of said WHAT THE H*** DOES THIS F****** HAVE TO DO WITH GEOCACHING Then maybe me panties would be in a bunch, If I wore any under my kilt Oops that wasn't supose to be public knowlage. Oh well, know ya know Sorry lad....pirate temper, don't ye know! Ifn' ye ever sail down ta this 'ere port o' Sandy Eggo, I'll buy ye a tankard o' rum! Cheers!

After I read his response, I realised that it was probably going to be misinterpreted as an ad for the Faire. Honestly, it was just me being excited about the faire and wanting to let folks know about it since it typically doesn't get a lot of press. It won't happen again.

I'm a newbie to geocaching, but I has ta say I be hooked (ooops....sorry 'bout that hook reference Capt'n). Soz me question to youz is do thar be a calendar o' events posted somewheres where a pirate can have a chance ta meet some o' ye scallywags?
  23. Aye lad, thank ye fer tha heads up. Bein' new 'ere to tha forums I nay were awares o' a SD group. I tried tha Walmart at Grossmont near me home port, but nay thought ta look in tha paint department. I'll give 'er a spin. Arrrrr.

  25. Thanks for the help!! I discovered that the previous handlers of the TB did not log it as a drop at the cache, so that's why I didn't have the grab option! Everything has been corrected.
