  1. I have a 760 but only use it to get me to the parking spot, it's not made to leave the car and go in the woods. I have a 60Cx for that :) . If you go to pilotsnipes pages you can find out how to load it up with all the caches in your area (I've got 5000 in it so far!) and set a proximity alarm so you don't pass by a cache by accident. I've used this with great success so far. Happy Caching

  2. Well I'd guess it something to do with Selective Availability and when it was turned off.

    from http://geography.about.com

"If you take a look at your handheld or automobile Global Positioning System (GPS) unit today, you'll notice that it's much, much more accurate now than it was on May 1. The reason? U.S. President Bill Clinton ordered Selective Availability (SA) turned off at midnight May 1 (Coordinated Universal Time). Now, civilian GPS users around the world will no longer experience the up to 100 meter (approximate 300 feet) random errors that SA added to keep GPS a more powerful tool for the military. Today, GPS units are accurate to within 20 meters (approximately 60 feet); although in good conditions, units should display an error of less than 10 meters."

  3. go ahead GPS slug - TS's was the answer i was looking for - and in these forums that is what matters; not the correct answer!

Although i would still be interested in knowing who we all missed

 Who is it some please put me out of my misery..... :D

  4. Greetings all,

I am a geocaching first timer and have just recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 760. I down loaded a few cach locations in my neighborhood and I can't figure out for the life of me, how to bring them up on this device. I have gone to the Garmin website, and can not find the needed information.

Can someone please give me a tip or two?

Thanks so much and happy Sunday to all.

    Jules

This might help pilotsnipes nuvi page

  5. GPS 100 $2,500 US

I am gonna get this topic back on track.

What was the name of the first GPS Receiver produced by Garmin and how much did it cost?

    Binrat

Good job dragonflys! I had the answer within a hour but seeing Binrat is my bother I had to step back ha ha

here's a little more info on that GPS

The company’s first product was a GPS receiver called the GPS 100, a panel-mounted receiver aimed at the marine market, and sold for $2,500 US dollars. It debuted at the 1990 International Marine Technology Exposition in Chicago. The product was an instant hit and generated a backlog of orders for 5,000 units.

  6. The Price of gas right now is $1.269 per Liter in Canada at home, which is...

    3.785 L /gallon, so 1.269x3.785 = $4.803

The price is getting nuts. Just starting out in the Geocaching hobby but I do have several caches that are local. But yes it will make me think of how far i will go. It would likely be more of a case where if I have to go for another reason, then I will cache while there at the same time. By setting up and maintaining Caches locally will help to will keep me busy and active in the sport for the times when I don't want to spend the money to travel. I find the idea of people finding my cache and signing the log or online, just as fun.

Well with regulated gas prices here in Halifax, Nova Scotia the only good thing is the price is stable for a week!

    137.3 Gas 3.785 L/gallon, so 1.373x3.785 = 5.20

    155.6 Diesel 3.785 L/gallon, so 1.556x3.785 = 5.89

It does put a crimp in the caching for sure!

  7. Ducky is my Brother, blood is thicker than water...........unless the water is frozen.

I got no hints from him AT ALL, so I pulled out my trusty Boy Scout manual and soon had a answer.
