I agree with most of what I have read, i have been caching for less than two years and have found 98% of the people to be friendly and out going.
I do 75% of my caching with a smart phone but i do agree the hand held GPS is more accurate and I usually will take several GPS readings of a location before I submit it.
as far as difficultly I can only think of a few reasons someone should complain
1.If you give it a rating of 1.5 when it should be a 4.
2.If your GPS coordinates are off by more than 15' and your description is of no help
3.If your Description or attributes are incorrect,(example we have one in San Diego that should say you need scuba gear)
4.listed as a traditional cache when it should be a puzzle cash.
most caches i have met appreciate a well hid cache or container especially in an urban setting not just a magnet on a power box or a hide a key on a guard rail. several do not give hints to keep the difficulty rating higher.
I wish the best of luck to you and your family and maybe switch the coffee pot to decaff at the next meet and greet.
just my $.02
