  1. I have enough difficulty just finding caches with the co-ords, god help us if projected waypoints catch on! reminds me of Dartmoor letterboxes, how did I ever find so many just using a compass and bearings? Good luck, post the cache name when you get it off the ground.
  2. I've had mixed responses, yes slow to answer the phone and sometimes not answering emails but the response from Garmin Europe has always offered excellent advice and assistance, just guess they are busy. Have had considerably worse customer service from many many suppliers, at least Garmin repair/replace when goods apear to be faulty or even better have been accidentally damaged.
  3. In answer to your original question, how about a Flounder(ing)
  4. Keep them sit in front of the fire and read them over (sad option) Roll some of your best backy in the pages and smoke your way through the efforts of others who have found your cache unhealthy option) or throw way and not worry (sensible option)
  5. This should be a sticky, there is so much good stuff in amongst the posts.
  6. Is there any reason why the original cache (whichever is deemed to be the first) cannot be reinstated by someone else? I can't see any reason why this shouldn't be allowed if it uses the same co-ords and clue.
  7. Unfortunately after a promising approach the cache owner hasn't removed the logs from the cache pages nor made his feelings known in the forum in this post so unfortunately it doesn't look like these caches will be activated in the near future. Sorry but I did try!
  8. At Last! Thanks for the post Rutson. Managed to connect my tom tom gps to the PDA using this forum as a result.
  9. Yep, 3 spaces please for me the corp and Mrs Muggle.
  10. Has anyone had any luck setting up a PDA running memorymap with a tomtom GPS MkII? I am having trouble as the drop down menu on memorymap GPS setup doesn't have tomtom as an option. I have tried a number of combinations of ports and models but no luck in partnering the two although it works perfectly on the installed tomtom software on the same PDA. Thanks in advance as I am guessing someone has found a workround.
  11. If you are finding a waypoint as opposed to a geocache the found option is removed, at least from the 60csx, is this the issue?
  12. As a UK traveller the new restrictions put in place today as a result of a major terrorist coup for the good guys will mean we will have to judge speed and location using no more than a clear plastic bag, a passport, wallet and sunglasses (no case). No other hand luggage permitted. My wife will be marginally better off as she can carry some additional womens items. Don't laugh, I expect it will spread to other countries very soon. Not even permitted an iPod to drown out the wife.
  13. log it if you want to. who is going to complain? if someone does take offence does it really matter too much? I think anyone who has found all the CC series is permitted to log exactly what they want to.
  14. Just been checking out the fees for tomtom speed camera downloads...exorbitant is the only word for it. Does anyone know where a public database or freely available data set can be downloaded, esp for the garmin models?
  15. I have received an email from Hadescaveman extended the olive branch of friendship. Once the relevant logs have been removed from his cache sites and he has made his views known in this thread I will contact the team to see if they will re-list his caches, can't say fairer than that I believe.
  16. Can someone post the correct method of averaging a position. I have followed the scant details in the manual and am not sure what the unit is doing when it runs through the request as the altitude seems to be changing whilst stood still.
  17. Ruined 1x Renault turbo, 1x Renault exhaust pipe, boots, hiking gear, personal coin, premium membership GPRS, petrol, time off work, other coins, cache containers, www time, get the message. 500 caches found (almost). Rough cost about £3 per cache, great cheap walking hobby really! Oh and a miserable partner left at home, almost priceless whilst out but at home painfully expensive, add on shopping trips, burnt offerings, silent treatment, 'you have to be seeing another woman' (I wish) et al. You talk about cost, it aint been cheap but it has been fun.
  18. ditto the previous, some differentiation regarding cache type, plus on screen cache name would be excellent.
  19. Im happy to mail you the script I am using if you need it, to save you the numerous posts and editing I did!
  20. That is a serious chunk of tupperware, well done.
  21. Good thread. I was a letterboxer in a previous life and now wonder how I ever managed to find nearly 3000 of them in such a small area! My personal stamp for caching is an old letterbox rubbercut stamp. What is a rubbercut? For the uninitiated letterboxers used to design a stamp, photocopy the design then iron it onto a rubber (so the reverse image is left on the rubber). using a lino cutter or a knife blade the design is then cut out to leave the stamp. There were some fantastic designs cut in this way and I was just an average 'cutter' at the time. I will post some of the better designs to show how good they were then. having lost contact with the old team I don't know who they have developed but there were some really gifted designs back 5 years ago so I suspect they are even better now with PC assistance. In my view there are not enough cachers with their own stamp to sign in to the log books. Go for it, they are far more interesting than the handwritten entries.
  22. I bumped into the Hancock clan the other week, miles and miles away from their home patch. The now have just over 1K caches and need to travel some serious miles to collect caches. I only have just over 400 and have just cleared over 10 miles from home. (although I do have a nasty 11 mile ? cache I can't shift!) Just got to wondering what the record radius is in the UK for clearing caches. Post your number of finds and your cleared radius and let us see who has what.
  23. Who cares? There is no cash prize for finding a set amount so log them all, that's what I say! If you have been to the cache as a finder or hider then you have been there, end of story. Log it as such.
  24. RUBBISH..........where is Mossy Headace? Tell me and you will get your due regards!!!!!!!!!!!!! crimson Hill this week with luck
