I think it would be an good idea if as much concerned users as possible report the problem to Garmin. On the one hand Garmin then will more probably conclude that this isn't a very rare problem but it is worth to develop an firmware update to tie the customers and on the other hand because more serial numbers (see battery case) will help the engineers to narrow the root cause of the problem. Filling out the contact form for the customer support does cost a few minutes only:
