  1. Hello, we did the cruise and cache on cozumel but Danny was not there at the time. There's a great cache a few blocks off the strip further out that was an other worldly experience for me, like stepping back in time. My link If it's a hot day like when I was there they do have the coldest beer I have ever experienced. My best cache of the cruise. Have a good trip.
  2. If you have a gps enabled smart phone the best free golfing app is freecaddie which can be obtained at freecaddie.com. You can download course data automatically for any course based on current postion. Its free. There is also a paid version for about $10. All you need is a smart phone. I use it on my old blackjack II. Check it out.
  3. Count us down for really missing the google earth application. We used it a lot and thought it was a great layer to have on GE with everything else. Was extremely useful for planning outings and trips. We would like to see it come back. If it created any downside on geocaching.com we were not aware of it.
  4. Got an OR 400t for Xmas and have used it for about 8 caches. Before that I had the 60cx and before that the IIIplus. My 60cx had developed some kind of problems with the batteries so it really need to be replaced. I don't miss the III plus but I kind of think the 60cx is actually better for caching for caching than the OR. I am missing some features from the 60cx on the OR. Maybe I'll get over it. You can't seem to edit the geocaches on the geocache menu. You can't delete them there either. All you can do is select them. Maybe you can edit the coords for a geocache on the waypoint manager. But it's not a slick as the 60cx. Other things I've read on other forums aren't making me feel real good about the OR either. If you can't average a waypoint postion with the OR I don't what they were thinking there. I see the lack of position averaging as a major loss. The WAAS thing doesn't sound good but so far I havn't noticed a problem. But my old III plus did not have WAAS and the positions I get with it always compare real good with the 60cx. The screen brightness is also an issue. I put a screen saver on there and that doesn't help either. It definately is difficult to read without the backlight, and the backlight becomes disabled frequently with alkaline batteries. I'm used to using "dollar store" alkalines with the 60cx. If I am constantly running out of juice and have to get lithium or NiCd that's a little annoying. Another thing I don't like about the OR is that when it is connected to the computer you can't do anything with it. You can't seem to use any of the menus. It did'nt come with any software so you will need to get something if you don't have other garmin maps or the trip and waypoint manager. Seems like new users should have gotten something for the PC. It's nice to have the cache pages on the unit. But I have a pocket PC and a smartphone. I'll leave the pocket PC at home but I'll always have the cell phone and if I need to call up the web page I can do it there. I'm not sure the OR is ready for prime time. Maybe the CO was better. But the 60csx or cx would be a great choice for heavy duty geocaching.
  5. Rereading your message - It will not restart on it's own - you have to push the "on" button to get it to restart. After that you should be ok. You should see a series of blue dots and it may take a while to get out to the main menu screen. See my previous post.
  6. I was able to register a Oregon 400t today. I did think the process was a little bush. When I disconnected and restarted the receiver I had to wait quit a white to get to the main menu screen. It first went through a series of blue dots but it finally came up. Then I shut down - reconnected to the computer and was able to complete the registration. The question I have with the oregon is how do you edit a geocache on the unit. Say you want to change the coordinate. If I'm on a multi I usually just edit in the coords for new legs over the old one. The oregon doesn't seem to allow this. I hate having to create a new waypoint for each leg of a multi. Also, how do you delete a geocache once it's been downloaded? I am also annoyed that when I have the oregon connected to the computer you can't access any of the menus or use the unit. This seems bogus. You should be able to maniputlate the unit while connected to the computer. I just got the thing. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong and I'll be able to figure it out.
  7. I was able to install and run the Wherigo player on a IPAQ rx1955 but I had to install .NET Compact Framework 3.5 Redistributable. The .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Redistributable did not work for some unknown reason.
