  1. NOW THATS FUNNY LOL I have a cache that is a mile or so from the start of a power trail. Every so often someone drops a film can and fails to find the cache or sign the log. I make a point of checking the log book against the on-line logs and delete the log for any throw downs.
  2. If the lens is removable, put the log behind it and put a message on the front of the lens stating "remove lens to log"
  3. I use my NUVI 2595LT to get to the area and for the paperless caching, then I use my 12 yr. old Garmin GPS V and a compass to zero in on GZ.
  4. It is definitely a world record for biggest and longest powertrail of all time with the most amount of new hides dumped on one area at once. It ranks up there as perhaps one of the greatest achivements of mankind! 5. You didn't dig nor do the finders have to dig so your OK. I have found many such hides but without the Geocaching logo on the cap, which isn't the cache so the cap doesn't need a label just the cache itself on the end of the wire.
  6. I would post a note thanking her for the kind remarks and praise.
  7. Entitle the COs who place a cache with no intentions of maintaining it??? My experience with Scout caches is that, in most cases, no maintenance is planned. Hide cache. Get patch. All is good. Naw. NM. Right on HD. This cache screams for a NA
  8. Let's see, the cost of the paper and ink and not even considering the cost of the smart phone service would come really close to the $30 cost of a premium membership!
  9. Started in April 2002 and enjoy it as much now as then. On my 10th anniversary I placed two caches went back to the first one I found (it's in great shape still) and resigned the log then went caching with the 1st Mate.
  10. Everyone knows that "witch" day is Oct. 31st. Sorry just couldn't let it pass.
  11. Id love to ask the owners - what's up? why? what are you thinking? that the best you can do? Yes, I have a few ideas of my own. They are pretty good in fact... thanks for the help! Dale Carnegie: How to Win Friends and Influence People: "Nope don't do it." I've made some fairly innocuous comments that got some rather nasty replies from COs. HD is right
  12. My first cache was "Rip Pine Grove" http://coord.info/GC5E53 placed 5/26/2002 and still going strong. It is wayout there next to a pioneer cementary and gets a few finds and nice logs each year. It started out as a Large bucket and was replaced with an ammo can. And if interested, I had 3 finds and 1 DNF when I placed it.
  13. Thank You!!! This appears to have worked. Had to update GSAK and POI and there are still are some problems to work out, but I think they are do able. Need to start POI first and no button on the tool bar yet but can work around them. Ok, Harry Dolphin I owe you, so for the next 6 months I will agree with you in the forums no matter what.
  14. I am glad to hear that Groundspeak is finally working on this problem. It is better than being told to take it up on the GSAK fora. The problem has become a weekly issue. plus 1 Problem still exists, I tried to use a new PQ last Weds. and gave up looking for caches causing the problem after 4 hours and 5 "bad caches" sorry to say this is putting a big thorn into my geocaching side. Just wondering when this might be fixed as it's still is a major problem for me. I just downloaded 5 PQs and 2 had no problems one PQ had one cache another PQ had four caches and the last PQ has 18 caches that had to be removed before they will load. I really hate putting all these caches on my ignore list and it's not fair to the COs whose caches can't be found by some. It really soiling caching for me as it has taken me hours to clean up the PQs.
  15. Make it a 4.5 as they are rarer around here and you get more finds.
