  1. I live in a very rural area, 3 houses on my side of the road in my 1 mile block. My property line extends to the middle of the road. The county has a 45' easement from the center of the road. The only thing allowed by me or the county in this easement is the road and a mailbox. Nobody either the county or me can place or authorize anything else in this easement.
  2. On the micros I toss them on the others I toss them into a storage box.
  3. Went to town and found 5 caches which isn't all that bad as there aren't that many left in town for us to find. Wanted to do a new series near home but weather (wind & heat 90+) and health made us change our plans. Had a good day with no DNF's.
  4. I started caching in April 2002, found 3 caches and hid my first on 5/26/2002. AT the time there were not many caches available. I remember a early forum post about how many hides should you place and the general feeling was one hide for 10 finds. Both my first find and first hid are still active.
  5. Lightly paint one of the two contacting surfaces, lid lip or body lip, let dry. Close box, open box. Where the paint is scraped off adjust for more clearance.
  6. 1066 finds / 776 posts = 1.3737 without this one.
  7. How about having to find a cache in every state, country or ? she cached in?
  8. Mojave desert in mid July sort of like New Jersey in mid Feb. Bring lots of water!
  9. +1 A geocache is private property and taking it makes you a thief.
  10. Combine caching with our RV travels and our Hot Air Ballooning. Always run a PQ for where we will be.
  11. There is lots you can do about it. Be selective about the caches you search for. Report problems in your logs to alert other finders. Use the site features to report issues that need more attention. Hide good caches that you would enjoy finding. +1 Had two missing FTF's last year by new cachers which had wrong coordinates last year. In both cases the CO corrected the location and one of these days I will go for them again. More then number of finds, number of days with different CO's makes more sense. I mean how much do you learn about hiding a cache with 1000 identical Power Trail hides? 10 types with 10 different hiders much better. However the Lilly Pad doesn't want to change anything so use the NM, NA, Email the CO and the reviewer and move on.
  12. Move to the desert we don't know what that word "snow" means? Mid 70's this week!
  13. I would go check just to be sure everything looks fine. Maybe take a photo of the area if it's not a spoiler. Post a note saying that there is no litter or dog poo at or near the cache location. Add the photo to your log. Great idea. A scenic photo would eliminate any concerns of prospective seekers. I would then email the DNFing cachers and tell them everything is great at the cache and ask them for their solution so you could determine if they had the wrong solution.
  14. Yeh you got your first DNF, be sure and log it then move on have fun and welcome to Geocaching.
  15. Trade one of the kids? Now there's a novel idea! ? Doesn't work, no takers.
  16. OK this is not a which is better, regulars or micros, it is has anyone else done it this way. Last month I finally passed the 1000 find mark with 324 regulars, 250 small, 247 micros, 76 virtual, 74 unchosen, 25 other and 13 large. Yes, I know it took 12 years and my overall find rate was only 0.2175 but when I started I worked and there were very few caches in my area. Most cachers that I'm aware of, get to this level with mostly micros. So how about it how did you get to your first 1000?
  17. When I first started I checked on them every month but that soon became almost impossible. Now I check on them if I'm in the area or if there is a hint of a problem. For example a cache near mine is found but mine isn't or two out of three in a series are found but the third one isn't. I put a series of 18 caches last year with about a 1/2 mile spread and encouraged others to add to the trail. Several have so now I have new finds to get while checking on mine.
  18. I also went back and gave out FP to some of my old finds. To earn a FP from me the cache has to be (1) fun to find. (2) Have that something (can't define what that is put know it when I see it). This applies to finds past and future. I have a small number of FP I keep available so I have a FP available when I want to use one. I rarely use FP to choose a Cache to find.
  19. LOL I would email the CO wait a while then if no answer, it's geolitter I would remove it. I once found a cache with no GC number on it but it was ID'ed as a geocache. Couldn't find it on this site and neither could TBTB and as far as I know it still there, out in the middle of nowhere. Yes I signed the log.
  20. How about; "Crappy container in the usual crappy spot"
  21. I email the cacher telling them they double logged my cache and ask them if they would like to delete it or would they like me to delete it. I then move on as it's no skin off my back if they do or don't delete or don't have me delete the multiple log. The times I have done this usually the cacher deletes their own log.
