  1. Found a Geocacher from Finland - Search closed to this country too. However, Finnish Geocachers can participate in this project by searching and logging the cache in Finland. Just need to wait some more weeks. Thanks for your interest. Manuel Antunes

  6. We're an European team of Geocachers setting up an European wide multi cache. Recently we lost three members, due to personal/profissional issues. We need to replace them in order to continue the project. We're searching for Geocachers in Austria, Finland and Sweden to take part in this project. If you're citizen of one of this countries, geocacher and would like to participate in an International multi cache, please e-mail me to mantunes@netc.pt and I'll supply more details (Project draft) so you can decide if you want to join us. We have a Yahoo Group running. The working language is English. The first to agree from each of these countries, will be the choosen one to represent his country. 10. Last December, 29, when I was returning from a hunt, walking by a thin trail, I found myself face-to-face with a bull (a black, fighting bull!). I don't know if the bull apreciates Geocachers... but didn't wait to know! I hided myself for a while before continuing to the car. You can see the photos in the cache page (the cache creator posted it in Portuguese and English. My log is in English, so any geocacher can watch and read); http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=34082 Manuel Antunes "Life's like a hen's stairs..."

  12. quote:Originally posted by Trudy & The Beast: I am sure that you will have many more to share. We are looking forward to reading them. Not so many... only anotherone deserves to be shared. 13. "Once upon a time" a Portuguese geocacher placed a cache in a hill that has a cave with a beatifull view and has an interesting terrain formation known as columnar jointing. The cache was visited several times until I decided that my turn has just arrived. When I get to the place I was surprised with about 20 persons with hammers, ropes, plastic bags, numbered stones, etc... Some were digging, others, writing labels on litle bags, others analizing things, etc... That was an Archaelogical team on work! When I decided to visit the cache, I suspected that some signs of archaelogical work should be in the place, but... not that batalion of Archaelogists! That's because between previous visit and mine, some human bones were found just below the cache and the place was re-classified as Archaelogical relevant. I was not aloud to get to the exact place of the cache. They retrieved it for me and asked if I wish to log my visit. Said no - I didn't found the cache by myself... After the explanations they gave about the re-classification of the place, they were so kind that teached a live lesson to my son and my nephews. The kids apreciated it very much. When I returned home, I e-mailed the cache owner suggesting him to archive the cache. He did it several days after in order to preserve the Archaelogists work. 14. Well.... these last ones aren't exactly the kind of replies I expected to get to my post in this section of the Forum... About the Geographic issue... It seems that the contestator has his reason... When I wrote that setence I was reproducing part of the cache's text without checking... ( http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=31277 ) For me it has no importance if "Cabo da Roca" is the most westerly point of the Europe or not... I won't live better either way.... So, if someone has any interesting comment/repply about my post... feel yourself comfortable to post it. 15. Some weeks ago, I suggested to Jeremy to add this feature to the Geocaching site. Today, I found this topic... I just read all the posts and my opinion stays for it! As I understand, Geocaching is a "sharing" game; We share spots we know with others, We share logs, We share experiences, We share thoughts, We share excitment, We share frustation... and We will share... if our friend Jeremy has time and patience for it. I agree with the option for a "watcher" to opt not to share the fact that he's watching a cache. Best regards for all. MAntunes Follows my suggestion and Jeremy's answers (well, read from bottom to top. I haven't ripped any part of the text nor its sequence) QUOTE -----Mensagem original----- De: General Inquiries [mailto:contact@geocaching.com] Enviada: quarta-feira, 4 de Dezembro de 2002 1:48 Para: manuelantunes@azevedos-sa.pt Assunto: RE: [GEN-021108.5215] Suggestion about "watch lists" I admit to considering it, but haven't done so yet. What I tryed to suggest, in November, 8, is exactly what You admit to do; "We may add that feature for cache owners..." If You allready have plans to apply that modif and just had no time to do it, please, forgive me for disturbing You . Best regards and thank You for the Geocaching site. We may add that feature for cache owners seeing who are watching their own caches, however. Thank you for your work and the hours of enjoyment I've had with Geocaching - That's why I decided to became a premium member. My suggestion is the following: Is it possible to make a change in the cache pages that will permit to the cache creator to know who's watching a the cache, by clicking in the phrase "n account(s) watching this cache." ? Best regards and keep doing your good work, (MAntunes) mantunes@netc.pt ENDQUOTE Manuel Antunes
  16. Some time ago (August) I had an amusing experience when a I searched a cache placed by a cople of Hungarian geocachers in the most westerly point of Europe - "Cabo da Roca" in Portugal; QUOTE "Snake found!... Yes! Before I find the cache, when I was seeking for it in the terrain, one snake appear just in front of my face! She scared me ...but thinking twice, she ran away scared with me too! About the hunting, this time I did it alone (my companions preferred the swimming poll...). So, I started at 18H00 starting from Camping "Praia Grande" and drive to "Cabo da Roca" where I arrive and went to the Souvenirs shop where I took a coffe and bought an item to put in the cache. After that, I switched the compass orientation from GPS course to magnetic and started to walk.... down and down and down... While I was seeking for the cache, 3 unexpected things occurred; the snake, a pair of lovers and ...another geocacher! Yes! It was a singular hunt! While I was registering the visit, someone appear asking if I was geocaching! Said yes and the person (Galveias if I recall it well) told me that it's his first hunt - A new Geocacher has arrive! Welcome! In the cache, I found the litle porcelain chair I left in Last home of Gerturdes cache.... a new kind of Travel Bug? I left the item bought on "Cabo da Roca" (some kind of swiss knife with only tree/four features and the word Portugal) and took the pictures book about Budapest. I also read some words in the Hungary book and I found one sentence, in pages 89-90, that didn't like at all; - ... this region (Wunderlich) probably produces the best Kékoporto (Blauportugieser), a wine for drinking rather than for keeping... -. It seems that the Oporto Wine is produced in Hungary too... Well, besides that, it was a great cache and my compliments to the author. As suposed, cache in trash out. ENDQUOTE MAntunes Manuel Antunes
