  1. I use Firefox but don't know which OS maps you mean? I can see Streetmap on cache pages - is that it?
  2. We tend not to hide the usual plastic boxes but instead use natural objects as disguises. The very simplest would be a film canister hidden inside a drilled out log then placed in a pile of similar logs. I'm not giving anything else away on the forum as we have a new series out - with 12 different hides.
  3. If you are going to Gt Yarmouth you won't be too far from the Broads. Captain Birds Eye has some wonderful and inventive caches in series there and the countryside is stunning. Try his North Walsham and Dilham Canal Series or River Thurne and Bure series or his series from Ludham. You'll be spoiled for choice!
  4. I followed all suggestions. Nothing worked except using the IE Plus add on. Today without doing anything else it's all back to normal.
  5. I have discovered that if I left click the Firefox icon at the bottom right of the window it switches to an IE icon and then displays correctly. I think I would have to do this for each page though.
  6. I got quite excited by this. I deleted all my cookies Same problem! Mine did something similar a couple of months ago. I went into my cookies and deleted all my GC.com cookies except for my login details then restarted firefox. That corrected it.
  7. I have tried all the zoom settings. No other internet site pages are affected. I have greasemonkey but have it disabled. The formatting seems to be at fault. There are no bullet points, no emboldening of text, no header for the cache name, no borders around the waypoint information, no paragraph spacings. I know it is not important ion the general scheme of things but it's annoying!
  8. Thanks Bernard, but it makes no difference.
  9. My cache pages when viewed in Firefox look different since last weekend. The font size is smaller, everything is truncated. It can't be my laptop as it all looks fine in IE. Has anyone else had this problem? I would do a screenprint if I could work out how!
  10. Thanks both. I wasn't thinking straight yesterday - I didn't even think of taking paper and scissors! Anyway will make it Highland Horde's size and take scissors just in case!
  11. My magnetic nut & bolt cache (from uk geocachers) has been reported as needing a new logsheet. to save an extra 10 mile round trip please can anyone tell me what size logsheet it needs? If all else fails, I'll take a nano sheet. Thanks!
  12. I also have an Oregon 300 and had many gpx problems with my first unit which eventually rendered it unusable for caching. It was replaced by Garmin and the new one occasionally refuses to load a gpx file but on the whole is much more reliable. See previous topic.
  13. As the originator of the thread I have taken on board what has been said about my log. I should have suggested accurate coordinates and maybe I should have written a negative log instead of a bland one. but logging opens up an entirely different can of worms. I do not know how anyone who has never found a cache could possibly know how to hide one. Fair enough saying if a newbie only finds micros that's what he'll hide in return - but to have found nothing? And I'd bet that this type of "cacher" never seeks advice from a forum. I think 6 months or 50 finds, whichever comes quicker would be reasonable but in all honesty I can't see any sort of limitation being adopted.
  14. I stopped off today to do a local cache which was placed about a month ago. It didn't look very appealing but when I found myself driving 0.12 of a mile from it I stopped off. It was just thrown in the brambles on the edge of a wood in a housing estate. When I looked up the profile of the owner I saw that they had no finds. Shouldn't this be a requirement when a cache is reviewed? No wonder the countryside is becoming littered with tupperware - this is the sort of cache which gives caching a bad name.
  15. Yes there is I don't know why I didn't see them the first time but I did after I read the manual and saw they should be there. I am a happy purchaser now - it's a great improvement on my old one.
  16. I have just bought a new Nuvi 1340T to replace my old 200 series which has given great service for four years. It seemed cheaper to buy a new unit than upgrade the map again. I have just tried it out and while it is immeasurably better in most ways it doesn't have a coordinates option that I can see. I have always used this option to find parking places for caches on my old unit and don't know how I will manage without. Have I missed something or shall I return it? Edited to say I have now read the manual!
  17. Lately I have had quite a few online logs saying that the cacher didn't have a pen so didn't sign the log. I know it's easy to forget to take a pen or pencil but when I forget I always take a photo with my phone and send it to the cache owner to prove I have found the cache. I never rely on a pen being in the cache as there are so many micros and nanos now. Am I being picky when I say it's too easy to say "Didn't sign the log, no pen" I know it's just a game and everyone plays it in their own way.
  18. I always use these. they have the official logo at the top and come in all sizes. You can even print the lines on the reverse side.
  19. I developed plantar fasciitis last October and was told it would take a couple of years to heal. however I bought Dr Scholl gel inserts for my heels and wore them for 3 months as well as doing stretches from a physio website. One day I suddenly noticed the pain had gone. But what is the frozen golfball stretch? Is it exactly as it reads? Your ask the doc section sounds a great one! What we find the most effective for plantar fasciitis is the frozen golfball stretch every morning and night to lengthen the ligaments .Shoe wear can help a lot, orthotics ( specail insoles) or the "ugliest shoes in the world " MBTS (amazingly wonderful ,no I dont get comission, but i never wear anything else (my ex-marathon running feet have no metatrsal fatpads left (the fat moved to my midriff instead) ) and now the "medical crocs" are also really good for plantar fasciitis.

  21. You are right - it was a rogue PQ. I did it again and this time got what I wanted. I didn't use a postcode, but coordinates for the search. So it wasn't my Nuvi at fault this time. Not the first time I heard this. I think there was an issue recently with some pq's showing scottish caches. Could be that its working fine, and you are just loading one of those crappy PQ's. Try running a newly generated PQ perhaps? *ninja edit - just checked with the peeps in IRC and it seems the PQ that showed Scottish caches instead of locals was generated by a postcode search?
  22. I am having a most frustrating evening! After getting my replacement Oregon 300 all went well until now. I have just tried to download a PQ of my local area about 6 times after deleting all gpx files first. All that showed were some in Scotland which I didn't put there - they must have been from the previous owner as it is a reconditioned model. I have tried holding down the left corner of the screen and deleting all user data. These rogue caches will not delete. I have tried downloading an individual gpx file from a cache page on gc.com. That worked OK. But I cannot download my PQ files. I can see I will have to download each separately and phone Garmin on Monday and complain AGAIN!
  23. I didn't see that - thank you!! No wonder I couldn't do it and the maps don't load if the software isn't up to date.
  24. I have a small cache series with a puzzle in each ending with a bonus cache which is designated as mystery. I want to extend the series and change the cache type on the bonus to traditional removing the puzzle element. Is it easier to archive it then rename it or can it be changed? Thanks in advance for advice
  25. I have just spent two hours trying to download these maps. The main problem is updating the software on my phone. I am supposed to type in #0000# to check my software version but with mo network coverage at home i am stuck. I could use wifi but don't know how. I am going to give up soon.
