I'm the same way, sign log, leave something and move on.Now after a couple months geocaching, i carry a large recyclable TSC swag bag with dollar tree/general/family store items.Walmart just doesn't carry much.FYI, they have a nice LED mini flashlight thats very bright and a digital watch with a large readout for a buck.I got 6 of each.Last time i went geocaching at our lake, someone placed rocks in a cache!

Thanks for the replies. Forgot to mention, i DO have a Magellan explorist 100 and GC.And i don't have internet on my smart phone.I can only use GPS when i'm outside and WIFI inside on my wireless router. I just got the Magellan GC about a month ago and its fine for pocket queries except it doesn't get the pics or attributes even with the GPX files and vantage point used to transfer them.Just thought having both on a geocache hunt would help.thanks for the info!

I bought a motorola Quench, a android series, a few days ago.Tho i found ALOT of GPS apps for free on the android market place,anyone know which free one is the best for geocaching to download? I have APPS GeoGoogle,Cache Seeker,GPS Essentials and GPS Tracker so far.I'ts too bad they don't include the Geocaching app for free as a premium member instead of charging a extra $9.99 for it.

I got my Magellan GC for $138.88 at Walmart.com about a month ago.Never been able to get pics or attributes to download with the pocket queries but it works when i don't have cell reception which happens alot in around here in s.e. oklahoma.I can always count on satellites but not cell towers. I'm still thinking of downloading a APP for my Motorola Quench tho if i can find it free.There's plenty of free GPS ones but the one for this site,geocaching, is $9.99 on the android market place.

As I understand, you need help in downloading geocache files to your Explorist GC together with its picture and attributes. For your case, kindly use VantagePoint in downloading geocache files to the unit so you can see the pictures and attributes. Simply run VantagePoint and connect the unit. Login to your account in www.geocaching.com by clicking the Geocache tab. Select the geocache files and download it to VantagePoint then transfer it to the unit. I also changed my GPX from 1.0 to 1.0.1 under account and had the magellan communicator_113 already installed but no difference. Also tried to download thru Vantagepoint and back to GPS with same results.

I've been able to use my new Magellan GC a few times and i have a few questions.I downloaded the 1.7 software version as mine off the shelf was the 1.0. Some of the same problems like the pics and attributes are not downloading even tho i use the GPX files as a premium member.I know from my PC that the caches do have these.I did a pocket query for a 35 mile radius from my home cords without my caches,traditional and multi only caches and downloaded them.Descriptions and hints are there tho.I also know how to add waypoints and geocaches with GPS but is there a way to add my caches i've already placed so i don't have to go back to them as POI? Hows the best way to add your caches that you've already placed to your GC? thanks for the help!

I can't seem to get attributes and any pics there might be on my new GC when i download a cache.I checked by downloading one of my caches with about 6 attributes and one pic but next to it is a zero.hints,description everything else downloads fine.Not that big of a deal i guess.

Did notice another glitch.On my caches and other with attributes and pics it says "0" on my GPS screen.Also wish there was a way of marking my caches as "mine" instead of just Found,not found, field note and needs maintenance.

I got my Magellen GC yesterday and wanting caches in a 75 mile radius from home cords., came up with the same results.After reading these posts, i left off attributes,double checked to make sure the right boxes were checked/not checked etc. and this time it worked.Theres a bug alright, just not sure what it is.One reviewer on the GPS returned his i think i remember reading because of this glitch.Thanks guys with the help on this problem!

From s.e. Oklahoma.Joined about a month ago and bought the premium membership today.I plan on coming here alot for help and info. I have a explorist 100 GPS now i bought when flying my powered parachute but was thinking of getting this one Magellan Explorist GC for $139 because of its downloading capabilities and price.Anything you guys think i should know about it,good or bad or anything else just let me know.There was 6 people unhappy with it, 15 who liked it in the reviews.thanks...jesse
