  1. Ok, so I am am very biased on this, since I haven't cached all over the NW. But there are so many caches (173 within 10 miles of city center, 260 within 20 miles) with an assortment of traditional, micros, virtuals, puzzles, multis. Difficulties and terrains of all ratings. A multitude of settings from urban to suburb parks to deep forest (Forest Park is over 5000 acres and wonderful!) The cachers in the area are great people to gather with. What more can you ask for?

Ron/yumitori, who has no trouble whatsoever distinguishing between reality and fantasy, thank you very much... Oh sorry, I forgot to include that they have very little sense of humor. Ok, while most SCAers are actually pretty cool, there are those who take it waaay to seriously. Kingdoms where the king actually thinks he has absolute power, groups where women are treated very badly, and even groups who have slavery. And this is supposed to be fun for all???
  3. Are you sure they aren't just left over "feed your head" bubbles from The Game? I know I have dropped a few off here and there.

  5. maybe if we are really lucky the meteor shower will burn away the clouds! then again, maybe that wouldn't be so lucky...
  6. quote:Originally posted by Lazyboy & Mitey Mite:So you'd prefer they cut down healthy trees? We aren't going to use any less wood just because of fires you know. No I don't prefer cutting down the healthy trees with wild abandon. There actually is such a thing as careful, controlled, and sustainable logging. What it includes is taking into account the impact to the ecosystem and minimizing this impact. Part of that ecosystem is burned trees. You stated that not logging these trees would be a waste. It is not. There are many benefits to leaving burned trees in the forest. Go read the web sites referred to in prefious posts. Some of them may be salvage logged if done properly, but any remaining provide value to the regrowing forest.
  7. Leaving burned trees in the forest is not wasting the wood. Humans are not the only creatures that can get benefits from them. Burned trees are an essential part of a healthy forest
  8. mandelbrot yeti times-new roman nichtdortseiend Team Oregone! snark ramen washingtonne (you would have to move) or you could go with your current avatar Dr. Strangelove (for slinger91, that's Peter Sellers) or Merwerdich-liebe
  9. Now I think I know who it is!
  10. It may leave out many fine caches, but for simplicity of gameplay, multi-caches should probably be excluded. After all, unless you go by the coordinates listed on the cache page, how will people know for sure whose territory the hot potato is in?
  11. I agree with Oregone, and would go one step further and say that I don't think you should count this as a find I know you don't like to hear this, but you aren't even 100% sure you were at the right place.
  12. This seemed like such a perfect place to hid it too. I suppose with all the high schoolers wandering these woods, it may be difficult to find a hiding place where one of them won't stumble across it.

I would never own a corgi. Isn't a corgi one of those little cast-iron toy cars from the UK? Corgi If that's what you mean, then I do own some Star Trek corgis That would bring my total from the list to 4. And we all know that most of the caches are on the west side to give the east-siders an excuse to get away for a few hours. And how many caches can you hide in chestnut trees along those house filled streets anyway?
  14. As I read the rules, the larger number of caches on the west side should be a disadvantage to the west siders... you are trying to keep the potato in the opposing team's area as long as possible. As a west sider, I don't mind this at all... after all, we are the better cachers I also don't see why so much of WA would be included... only the 'couv area! Don't want to wander too far away from home

"Mundanes" seems to have traveled to SF cons by way of the SCA attendees, most of whom can't distinguish between fact and fantasy... but that's another matter. We like to call the CreationCons "Ferengi Cons." It fits well with Trek and for-profit.

    Geo tiles

Very cool! I'll be keeping my eyes and grabby hands open for one of these. Do you know when some unknown person will be releasing these into the world?

  20. You can always wrap your marbles in lead to avoid any pesky radiation detectors. Why does that sound wrong, somehow?
