  1. This just made me giggle. If only you knew my husband...normal would not even be in that sentence. And Muggle Finder...if we ever get out to California for a vacation like we want to, we'll be sure to look up your accessible caches! Thanks! Dawn and Steve
  2. I'm 43, hubby is 41. We just started out and haven't dragged the kids along with us yet. They're 21, 18 and 18, and a 16 month old grandson. I think my daughter and her baby would probably enjoy some of the parks we've been to, especially the ones with playgrounds! (I enjoy those too!)
  3. I found my small ziplock baggies on ebay. They're a great size for small items and I'm thinking would probably fit in a micro.
  4. I would say in this particular case that you could use the wheelchair icon, but maybe state in your cache description that the path is accessible but the cache itself might be hard to reach. People's abilities are so different...what might be a fairly easy run across a lawn for a person using a motorized w/c might be a bit harder for a pusher. My husband is a quadripalegic, he can't bend over (although he's pretty good at falling over! LOL), he can't actually grab a cache, but a parapalegic would probably be able to handle that with little trouble. I, for one, appreciate the efforts of anyone who takes the time to specify whether their caches are accessible or not. My husband and I are just starting out but we're having so much fun. And I want to thank one hider in particular in my area, Twinstars, who very often mentions whether his cache is accessible. And thanks to you, also! Dawn
  5. Worst case of poison ivy I ever got was in the middle of February. I pet my cat who tended to walk through a good sized patch in the woods. My hands and face (yes, I like to snuggle my face in the fur! ) were covered so bad that I couldn't bend my fingers or wear my glasses/contacts. And yes, you can get the oils from ALL parts of the vine, including the roots. Home remedies that work for me...make a tea from the stems and leaves of jewelweed (often found growing near poison ivy), strain, then make into ice cubes. Rub cubes over affected areas whenever they start to itch. Or, make a tea from fresh sage leaves. Strain and use the tea as part of your bath water...soak, don't wash...and just pat dry. Dawn
  6. Did you install the MapSource program that came with your Garmin 60CS? I finally did after about a month or so of entering coords manually and now it's a breeze! Go to your MapSource, type in the coords for the cache you'd like to find. Simple as can be. Enter a whole bunch, map out a route, etc. Then, plug your GPSr into your computer and transfer all the info by clicking a button. Good luck! Dawn
  7. Hi everyone! I joined a few days ago while looking for something that my husband (a quadripalegic) and I could do together...something that would get us out of the house. Geocaching seems like the perfect thing! I've been pouring over the forums for the last two days, researched a couple of nearby caches that we're looking forward to searching for whenever we get some free time, and generally enjoying the whole site and comradery (sp) I've seen here. We bought our first GPS tonight...just gotta figure out how to use it. Anyway, just wanted to introduce ourselves! Dawn and Steve SW Iowa
