i came here looking for a solution to the same problem. no caches on the map here in northern VA
-
step one: get bolt cutters
step two: get replacement lock
step three: wait until coast is clear
step four: cut lock on locker that is damaged
step five: retrieve TBs that have been in for to long and replace lock.
easy

bought a pack of wood disk and a wood burner and made a few of these.
they look a little rough in the picture but look much better in person.
let me know what y'all think!

yup every time i walk into a store i always find myself in the container isle or looking down in the hardware section for caching ideas.
i even make frequent stops at the dollar tree for swag.

i picked up two ski poles from the thrift store and modified the bottoms to do better on trails.

Just a quick word if you're new to night caching.....geocaching is an activity which during the day appears suspicious but at night seems absolutely evil. As an older couple my wife and I "profile" very well and almost never cache at night....when we have, the majority of the time we've been questioned by the police.
well i've definitely been night caching but never found a real night time cache.
thanks all for the replies helped alot!

so for the past few weeks i have been interested in looking for a night-cache only problem is i am not sure how to run a search for them in my area.
any suggestions on how i could go about this?

i recently found a $2 bill in a cache for the FTF prize and was super stoked on it for the rest of the week. i actually just ran up stairs to grab it from my room when i read your post.

http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2012/may/HQ_12-168_Lunar_Protection_Guidelines.html
I think we need a revision of the LunarCaching gudelines. Apparently NASA just created the equivalent of U.S. national parks with regards to hiding physical caches on the moon.
So no blinkies or magnetic keyholders on any of the equipment left behind....
This pretty much leaves every single lunar hide as described by the following:
Look for a pile of rocks.
okay please tell me this is a hoax. are there really caches on the moon? if so links would be mucho appreciated.

thats such an awesome idea. i would be so stoked if i found one of those in a cache.
i might have to take this idea from you if ya dont mind :] i would of course add something to make it unique to myself.

maybe i want to show you my BA lamp post.

thanks for the replies. just got to make up my mind since i hadn't thought of a series of traditional caches at all.
the point of making it a multi-cache was for the challenge of the whole thing.
my new question is, would you feel more accomplished after completing a long multi-cache in a single day? or several traditional caches in several days?
also how would i go about putting a final stage that could only be accessed, found and logged after finding all the caches if i took the series of traditional caches route?

I was thinking of placing a cache the length of a parkway in my area that would take you to different spots of interest around the county (i even have an evil twist in my head).
so I have read that there are several multi-caches that have great distances between the way points (some 100s and so on).
my question is how far is to far before i should give my local reviewer a heads up?

looks like you'll be having loads of fun hiding these! where did you get the gorilla tape? i can't find it in my area.
-
mine are:
1) get a FTF
2) break 100 finds, should be easy this summer since i have 78 so far
3) fill in a couple more states
4) place more geocahces ( i have so many ideas in my head)
5) have fun!!
i should invest in a notebook for all my ideas

Wow! Crazy night! Late too I bet!
I want to try nightcaching. Is it fun?
it can be just make sure you grab a buddy to go with you and that the geocache you go for is available at night. also that you aren't trespassing by being in the area at night.

"yes i am one of those geocaching people"
and my favorite so far "i use billion-dollar satellites to find Tupperware in the woods....whats your hobby?"
-
I often night cache and i was out by myself round 3am in a thicket next to a shopping center. walked almost directly up to the container and opened it.... out popped a fake snake letting out a shriek that scared the crud out of me not only did i scream but someone heard me and called the police.... i arrived home an hour and a half later after trying to explain why i was in the woods so late (i ended up having to take them back to the cache which i couldn't find) i also had to wait while they searched for a non-existent victim they thought i left behind..

anything disguised as a rock does well too.

i have been looking for a sig item for awhile and a laminator sounds like an awesome thing to have. i thought about placing my favorite quotes and my GC name.
maybe even make your own trading cards?
-
i would suggest good double sided tape (the kind that can hold a picture frame on a wall) in order to place leaves and sticks over it.
-
well my geocaching bag and EDC bag have become one in the same (wondering if anyone else has had that happen?) so smart phone and GPSr, small swag, little bags, notebook, pens/pencils, the trusty swiss army knife, a multi tool, my folder knife, an altoids tin first aid/survival kit, and usually a snack and the ole water bottle.

i love it! even though i am 6' 5" and its hard to be stealthy sometimes i still try

i feel your pain only i left my gps on the ground near a cache and someone must have walked by on the trail and grabbed it. wasn't there when i went back and no logs on the cache page saying it was found.
