  1. Wish we could have made it to the Meet and Greet in Escanaba last month. Maybe something will be happenin' in August when we come up for the UP State Fair. Any local cachers also members of the EAA ?
  2. How did the caching go CJ? There is a San Diego geocoin and my SMOKEY TB floating around up there somewhere...bet it's plenty cold still.
  3. The cows love California especially all the hoof massages (earthquakes).
  4. Oh boy! Sounds like fun! I agree with Chuy's motion....
  5. Placed a TB from the U.K. in West Gladstone Boat Launch today. Man was it cold, brrrr. But now I'm home sipping a margarita by the pool.
  6. You certainly have the right vehicles for the snow!
  7. Hey, clean off that camera lens...spots all over. Does everyone have white driveways? How do you keep 'em clean?
  8. Well sure, but not during the seventies. During the seventies the gals had the idea that there was something beyond perfect. Too bad for me. Yeah, the good old 70's. They wrote a song about us..."I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was..."
  9. "currently have the logbook but plan on returning it within the month. Wanted to read all the entry's but didn't want to stand in the cold. " ... a good example of what not to do .. single digit finder. Hey, no one will be looking for it until about April anyway
  10. We should be grateful for our weather...read the 1/17 post for this cache in Wisconsin! Pretty funny!
  11. Say, is anyone near Escanaba heading to the TC Winter Convergence event? I have a U.K. TB, a San Diego TB and a San Diego 2005 Geocoin that need to hitch a ride to troll territory They arrive in Escanaba around 7:30 pm tonight. Just thought I'd check...thanks!
  12. Very interesting stuff, thanks for the link doc. As for the rocket performing "nominally," it has been my experience that in aerospace jargon that means midway between tolerance extremes: perfect!
  13. For some reason I can't get the webcast, but I was watching the countdown timer and when it got to zero, it jumped back to 00:59:00. Bummer!
  14. Went out to Kitchen Creek Cache on Tuesday. Coudn't find the cache but moved the decon container with memorial cards to GZ. Posted a note in log. edit: Thought I counted 5 cards in the decon.
  15. You are too kind, Karen! Glad you like the caches and thanks for the plug!
  16. Hey, I can't make it this trip but my wife will be in Escanaba/Gladstone this weekend. Anyone in that area interested in helping her and my brother-in-law find a cache to stash a San Diego Geocoin and possibly another TB? She hasn't cached much and I want to get my bro-in-law hooked on the hobby too. And, I don't want to give up my GPSr for the whole weekend....(that's the real reason )
  17. Thanks for providing the link to the Webcast. I turned it on for my advanced science class. The countdown window was really small and we got a little confused because they kept on adding time. We didn't know that because we were watching with the sound off while we did other things. We turned the sound on at times and it was very interesting to listen to a mission engineer. I gave the students an assignment to do an an internet search for the meaning of ILS. Dave Sorry Dave, I had to postpone the liftoff because I was out in the desert trying to find your latest cache. The wife said she would record it but I wanted to see it live. Sorry for any inconvenience...
  18. Always looking for news from the U.P. and didn't even see a thread here for it. I have a cabin in Rock (but live in CA) and will be doing a little caching up there next week, I hope. Maybe take a TB or two out there with me. Anything to share about caching in the U.P.?
  19. "Are we there yet?" "Did you see my shoe?" "Get off my @ss." "Can you get that, I'm busy." "Move over, you're in my way."
  20. Reluctantly bought a Vista C after taking a wrong turn while hiking with my wife. Reluctant because about 5 years ago our son wanted a GPS for Christmas and we gave him a Magellan 315, if I remember correctly. Neither one of us could figure out how to use it properly. While searching the internet for tips on how to get the most out of the etrex, I stumbled upon geocaching. This Christmas the same son got me City Select for it which is phenomenal. GPSrs have come a long way! Update: Dug out that old 315, replaced the batteries...doesn't seem that complicated now. We now have a backup!
  21. Here's a new one that would be fun: Chimney Rock Safari
  22. MERRY CHRISTMAS and may the New Year bring many more caches!
  23. "I don't think it's too OT, it's actually the opposite! Anyhow, I'd be interested in exploring areas that six footers could stand up for most of the way!" Crawling for about 30 feet before the narrow chute turns and heads up hill is what you'll have to do to get The Womb. Don't worry about spiders, their webs or any other crawly things, they all caught a ride out with PassingWind! Don't forget that after crawling the 489 feet to get there, you have the same crawl backwards...no room to turn around unless you're Houdini. Only saw a storm drain at La Cucaracha Rio...
